Chapter 508: 【384】So What if You’re a Governor? Kill! (4K for Monthly Tickets, Recomndations, and Genuine Copies)_1
“Are you not joking?”
“Would it be worth it?”
In Pei Jinye’s vision, the look back from Red Lotus carried a certain charm.
He silently reproached himself for the thought.
But he still found it sowhat hard to believe.
After careful consideration, this matter did indeed seem out of the ordinary.
Firstly, he had never revealed his true identity.
Secondly…
“She seems to really know who I am!!!”
Pei Jinye suddenly felt a chill down his spine.
He was ready to flee.
The woman’s voice ca through: “Actually, I didn’t plan to et you so soon, but the timing of your appearance is just too coincidental.”
Pei Jinye couldn’t help but look over.
Red Lotus raised her finger, and a bolt of lightning erupted, directly shattering the approaching shadow, before turning back and eting his gaze, “I held you when you were a child, in that house of yours in Da Peng City.”
Upon hearing this, Pei Jinye knew that the woman truly knew his identity.
He couldn’t figure out what detail had given him away…
“You have grown much faster than I expected, and our destined eting was forced to co early… In fact, I’m still not quite prepared to et you,” sighed Red Lotus. “Once I’ve killed all of them, I’ll tell you.”
“Okay!”
The Ice Scorpion Society was thrown into complete disarray.
They probably never imagined that after days of Tracking, they didn’t confirm the killer but instead brought about their own destruction.
“I can’t accept this! Why should the person who killed my brother go unpunished!” a disheveled woman roared loudly.
Red Lotus looked at her with pity: “The rules of this world have always been like this.”
“I won’t accept it!” the woman shouted fiercely.
With a calm gaze, Red Lotus extended her hand and swiftly eliminated several figures pretending to be dead before her.
The woman’s roar weakened sowhat for so reason, but her eyes were still full of resentnt.
Pei Jinye stepped forward at an unhurried pace: “You don’t need to be so angry. It makes us siblings seem like we indiscriminately kill the innocent. Do we, sister?”
He turned his head to look.
Red Lotus had already beco pleased at the word “sister,” able to distinguish genuine intent; thus, she understood all the more how true the “sister” from Pei Jinye’s lips was.
“Who says we kill the innocent indiscriminately!” Red Lotus feigned anger.
The siblings played off each other, causing the woman opposite to break down completely.
She rushed forward, roaring.
Imdiately her body was enveloped by two brilliant rays of light.
In just a short three minutes, the Ice Scorpion Society, which had been powerful for many years, was uprooted, leaving even those outside oblivious to what had happened.
So who initially wanted to get closer had received secret warnings, so they were even more certain… the Ice Scorpion Society had offended soone they shouldn’t have.
…
“Feel better now?” asked Red Lotus, looking at Pei Jinye.
Pei Jinye just smiled: “Actually, I never really got angry with them.”
Red Lotus tilted her head to look at him, then suddenly smiled as well: “That’s fine.”
“So…” Pei Jinye looked at her seriously. “Can you tell now?”
Neither of them returned to the courtyard imdiately but instead went up a mountain. Clouds and mist swirled at their feet, much like the legendary dwellings of immortals.
“Many figures have erged from the Pei Family, but alas, ever since Pei Zhan, our esteed ancestor, brought about his own demise, our family has faced extermination…”
Red Lotus spoke softly.
Pei Jinye had a strange look on his face.
This familiar way of introducing a story usually ant family feuds and national hatred were to follow…
“There are many branches of the Pei Family; our two families are so of the more remote ones, so we were lucky to escape the purging… Back then, to avoid further purges, the elders in our family altered your identity information.”
“Could they hide it from the Star Ring?” Pei Jinye was sowhat surprised.
“It was indeed only that one ti,” Red Lotus looked at him. “Before leaving, my father personally erased your mories. I always thought we would eventually et on a bright sunny day… but it ca too early. Your awakening actually exceeded my expectations.”
Pei Jinye fell silent.
The other person probably didn’t know… he was not from this world.
This would be his biggest secret.
He couldn’t tell!
“Sorry, I have no recollection of your existence,” Pei Jinye apologized.
Red Lotus was not surprised: “You have the right to choose, whether to be an ordinary person or to enter this line of work. You make your own decision, and you don’t have to worry about being discovered by Star Ring; your identities are all genuine.”
“I’m very curious, what exactly happened to the Pei Family at that ti?” Pei Jinye inquired.
“I wasn’t born at that ti, so…” Red Lotus appeared helpless.
“What about the people in your family?” Pei Jinye was puzzled.
“A traitor erged within our family back then, so only I survived.”
The tranquility and acceptance in Red Lotus’s tone took Pei Jinye aback.
He sighed lightly: “Sorry.”
“It doesn’t matter. It’s been so long, I almost forget it,” Red Lotus turned her head to look towards the sea of clouds.
Pei Jinye didn’t know what she was doing.
She suddenly reached out and gently tapped the mountain wall, revealing a cavity from which she took a clan record and a small USB drive.
The clan record had the nas of Pei Jinye’s family.
The small USB drive included a group photo from over a decade ago; in it, Pei Jinye saw his young parents and himself as a baby, as well as a photo from his schooldays.
Pei Jinye held up that school photo and inquired.
“Before leaving Central State, I couldn’t help but go see you,” Red Lotus simply smiled. “You were a bit chubby back then. I thought about passing on so Techniques to you, but then I thought better of it, and just averted several years of disaster for you instead.”
