Mewtwo pressed the button on Ditto's Poké Ball and unleashed a massive wave of psychic energy, enveloping the purple Pokémon completely.

Under the stimulation of Mewtwo's immense power, psychic crystals began to manifest on the surface of Ditto's body. Its form swelled rapidly, and shimmering silver-white feathers erupted from its flesh. Within seconds, Ditto had transformed into a massive, silver-winged avian entity—trapped within Mewtwo's psychic barrier.

It was the legendary guardian of the seas: Lugia.

Feng Che's eyes widened, his long lashes fluttering as he stared in disbelief. Lugia was massive, with a pale blue underbelly and dark blue mask-like structures around its eyes and back. The rest of its body glowed with a pure, metallic silver sheen.

Seeing the Mythical beast standing before him, everything finally clicked.

"Lugia... Psychic Crystals... so that's it." Feng Che muttered, "I wondered why I couldn't find that Lugia feather back then—you swallowed it. And the disappearing crystals in the ruins? You ate those too."

He looked at Ditto, who was currently a perfect replica of Lugia, and sighed. Before this, he just thought Ditto was a glutton; he never imagined it had consumed so many legendary treasures.

"See? We really are brothers," Mewtwo said solemnly. "Ditto is that missing embryo. It inherited Mew's ability to transform, while I inherited its vast psychic capacity. I suspect Ditto escaped because it suffered from cellular autophagy."

"Autophagy?" Feng Che asked. "Like you before? Its cells began to consume each other because it lacked pure energy?"

"Exactly," Mewtwo nodded. "It is an excruciating process. I remember the pain vividly. If you hadn't saved me, I would have perished. Ditto must have found the Rocket storehouse and consumed Pokémon remains to survive. Then, in the ruins, it stabilized its cells with the crystals. Finally, it ingested the feather, which was saturated with divine power."

"But," Feng Che frowned, "can a Ditto really become a Mythical just by eating a feather?"

Mewtwo sensed Ditto's consciousness returning and lowered the pressure. Ditto reverted to its pink, jelly-like form and flopped lazily onto the ground.

"To mimic a god, one needs divine biological material. Ditto has the feather fused into its core. However, it can only hold that form briefly. It drains psychic reserves at a terrifying rate. If it runs out, the autophagy will return. I don't recommend it uses that form."

"I won't let it," Feng Che said softly, his gaze tender as he looked at the 'jelly' on the floor. "Ditto is family, not a tool."

The Next Day: Indigo Plateau Elite Arena

The stadium was packed with nearly 100,000 spectators. Red and Feng Che stood on opposite sides of the battlefield.

"Feng Che, I'll start the offensive!" Red said, his eyes burning with excitement. As he reached for a Poké Ball, Feng Che held up a hand.

"How about we release our first Pokémon simultaneously? It's fairer for the opening move."

"Agreed! Go!"

Red sent out Poliwrath. Feng Che sent out Greninja.

"Your Frogadier evolved!" Red grinned. "I've been waiting to battle your Greninja. Poliwrath, use Aqua Jet into Mega Punch!"

Poliwrath swirled in a torrent of water, charging like a cannonball. Greninja used Aerial Ace to vanish and reappear behind it, manifesting a blade of water.

"Behind you! Ice Punch!"

Poliwrath spun with startling agility. The freezing fist met Greninja's water blade, turning it into a shard of ice. The jagged edge cut Poliwrath's fist, but the wound healed and scabbed over in three seconds—an incredible recovery rate.

"Greninja, Water Shuriken!"

Greninja hurled two spinning blades of water. Red pointed. "Ice Beam! Feng Che, I've found your weakness! Your Greninja relies on water manipulation. If I freeze its attacks, they become useless!"

The shurikens froze solid and thudded into the dirt.

"Don't be so sure. Greninja, Night Slash!"

Black blades formed in Greninja's hands—forged from pure Dark-type energy. "My Greninja isn't just about water," Feng Che smiled.

The two clashed, blue and black light blurring. Poliwrath's raw strength was crushing, but Greninja used its superior speed to chip away at its opponent.

"Poliwrath, Bullet Punch!"

"Greninja, Double Team!"

Dozens of Greninja appeared, each holding a black, swirling sphere of energy—a compressed Dark Pulse. They hurled the spheres at Poliwrath. Poliwrath swatted them away like flies, sending the black orbs high into the air.

BOOM!

The spheres exploded above, raining down a thick, black mist that covered the field.

"What is this?" Red blinked, losing visibility.

In the VIP booth, Hagen stared at the screen. "Blaze, have you seen a field-effect move like that? It's spreading like smoke."

"It's Haze, but infused with Dark energy to disrupt psychic sensing," Blaze analyzed. "Water-types can use Haze or Mist. He's using it to mask his tracks."

"Hagen, do you think this is the same Greninja that attacked you?"

Hagen shook his head. "I don't think so. The one that ambushed me was a master of Ice-type moves. This one clearly favors Water and Dark. If it were the ice master, it would have just frozen Poliwrath solid by now. Why take the long way around?"

Blaze narrowed his eyes. "Or maybe it's pretending, specifically so you won't realize who it is."
