Feng Che utilized his psychic powers to shield himself, ensuring he didn't end up with a mouth full of grit every time he tried to speak.

[Greninja: This Flygon is truly a formidable opponent. I'll have to give 200% to win this.] [Greninja: First, let's clear out the small fry.]

Two Water Shurikens manifested in Greninja's hands, suddenly elongating and reshaping into two slender, crystalline Water Blades. With a swift movement, Greninja leaped into the air.

At that exact moment, jagged stone pillars erupted from the sand where it had just stood, thrusting upward like deadly bamboo shoots. The Krookodile pack was churning the "sand sea," utilizing Flygon's Sandstorm to launch relentless guerrilla strikes.

Greninja balanced effortlessly atop one of the stone pillars. Facing the vicious Krookodile, it swung its blades. Two streaks of cold light sliced through the night.

The first strike cut through the Sandstorm itself, momentarily clearing the air to reveal the moonlight. The second strike swept toward the Krookodile. In an instant, the rampaging crocodiles seemed to hit a pause button. They froze mid-motion. Upon closer inspection, their armored hides had been sliced clean through, and dark blood began to seep from the ruptures. Greninja had neutralized them in a single pass.

Immediately, a group of Excadrill surged forward, spinning at high velocity. Greninja crossed its blades over its chest, parrying a direct hit from a rotating drill. The friction sent sparks flying. Sensing another Excadrill approaching from behind, Greninja inhaled sharply, kicked off the pillar—shattering it—and flipped over the attackers.

The two Excadrill collided with each other, their hardened steel drills grinding together with a deafening screech. Greninja's blades extended into Water Whips, snaring the two and flailing them into the rest of the spinning horde. Like a game of bowling, the Excadrill were sent tumbling back into the sand.

Suddenly, Flygon unleashed a piercing sonic wave. It combined Bug Buzz from its wings with Uproar from its maw. The unexpected auditory assault struck Greninja like a physical blow, halting its ghostly movements.

[Excadrill: Now! Get it!]

The Excadrill burst from the sand, forming a wall of drills to crush Greninja. But the frog they struck dissolved into bubbles.

[Excadrill: A Substitute? Since when?!]

The drills slammed into each other with bone-shattering force. When the dust settled, the Excadrill lay scattered and unconscious. Feng Che systematically recalled the defeated Pokémon into Poké Balls.

Watching its subordinates being picked off, Flygon roared in fury. It ascended to the clouds, its body erupting with a concentrated golden Dragon Aura that acted like a suit of armor. The aura locked onto Greninja's position, inducing a momentary paralysis. Flygon then initiated Dragon Rush, diving like a golden meteor.

"That's a high-level Dragon Rush," Feng Che noted. "Impressive mastery, but unfortunately for you, you're up against my Greninja."

Greninja's body shimmered with an azure light, breaking the aura's bind. It summoned the storm clouds back, and rain began to pour over the desert. Flygon remained unfazed.

[Flygon: You think rain bothers me? My ancestors were the partners of the Sand Pirate Captain.] [Flygon: I've been trained since I was a Trapinch to fight in any weather. Rain won't save you.]

"Now, Greninja! Absolute Zero!"

Greninja slammed its freezing palms onto the wet sand. Dozens of massive ice pillars erupted, shooting toward the sky. With a thunderous boom, Flygon's Dragon Rush smashed through the ice, continuing its trajectory toward Greninja.

As Flygon neared its target, its expression shifted from triumph to confusion. The Greninja it hit was, once again, a Double Team clone.

[Flygon: Where is the real one?!]

Its battle instincts took over. It spat a Dragon Pulse at the ground, using the recoil to launch itself back into the safety of the sky. It scanned the area, but Greninja had vanished.

Suddenly, a terrifying chill erupted from beneath the sand. Hundreds of ice shards shot upward like anti-aircraft fire. Flygon inhaled and exhaled a massive Flamethrower, melting the shards into steam.

Before the steam could clear, Greninja reappeared. It manifested a massive Water Shuriken and hurled it like a buzzsaw. Flygon dove into the sand to evade, and the shuriken detonated, sending high-pressure water droplets deep into the burrows.

This Flygon's combat awareness is top-tier, Feng Che thought. And it's weather-resistant. It's worth the investment. I'll give it the Heart of Earth I got from the Warden later.

Greninja stood still in the heavy rain, which had now created nearly half a meter of standing water, further impeding Ground-type movement. It was acting as bait.

[Flygon: I'll sneak under it and charge a Solar Beam. One shot, point-blank.]

Flygon used Dig, moving silently beneath Greninja. However, Greninja felt the vibrations in the sand. It left another clone and moved aside, gathering frigid energy.

Flygon burst from the ground, unleashing a blinding Solar Beam. A mushroom cloud of steam rose, but the "target" dissolved into foam.

[Flygon: Oh no. Not again.]

Two Water Shurikens tore through Flygon's diamond-shaped wings, pinning it to the ground. Greninja channeled a massive flood to submerge the dragon and slammed its hand down, flash-freezing the entire area.

Flygon was trapped in a block of ice, only its eyes able to move in disbelief.

[Flygon: Impossible... undefeated until now... beaten by a frog...]

Feng Che tossed the ball. Click.

"Welcome to the team, Flygon." He released it immediately. Flygon glared at Greninja with lingering hostility.

"Save it for training, Flygon. Right now, lead me to the Sand Pirate treasure." Feng Che used his Viridian Power, his body glowing with a soft green light.

"Where is your token?" Flygon asked through telepathy, its voice surprisingly chatty. "You can't open the vault without the medallion."

"I don't need a medallion. Just show me the door," Feng Che replied.

"Fine... I technically shouldn't follow you since you don't have the heirloom, but you beat me fair and square. But you have to promise me—battles like that every day, okay?" Flygon babbled as it led the way. It was quite the chatterbox.

They arrived at an unassuming cave entrance. The interior was lit by torches burning Wailord blubber, designed to last for centuries.

"I brought you here because I'm your Pokémon now," Flygon sighed. "But without the Sand Pirate bloodline or the token, that door is never going to budge. You're wasting your time."
