Chapter 458: Chapter 458 - Unexpected Danger
Leyvi inspected Vincent’s mask. Sure enough, the top half of the mask had no holes for eyes and was covered in a restriction similar to those on space rings, a seal that prevented anyone but the owner from accessing its contents.
"Holy Maiden, that mask is the storage item," Lily inford Rose. As a formation expert, she could identify such things quickly.
"Oh, that is good! Darling, leave it to Lily to remove the restriction. It will take a while, but we are in the middle of taking a break anyway. We haven’t had the chance to remove the space rings’ restrictions from his subordinates yet, but as a faction leader, he must have countless valuable things. Darling will be rich! Fufufu~" Rose suggested happily.
"No need. I can do it myself," Leyvi declined.
Crash!
The sound swept through the air as Leyvi dismantled the restriction in an instant.
"Alright, let
see what is inside," he said.
The three ladies were left speechless. Right, we forgot he could do that.
Lily was especially aggrieved. As a formation expert, Leyvi’s ability to dismantle any array or formation felt like her natural-born enemy, the bane of all formation users.
But at the sa ti, she could not help wishing she had the sa ability. Breaking other formation experts’ constructs was part of her work, and most of that involved removing restrictions from space rings.
She would usually require four to six hours to break a single space ring’s restriction. And yet here was Leyvi, doing it instantly. How could she not feel a sting of frustration?
If only I could steal his ability for myself. That would be nice, Lily thought.
anwhile, Leyvi sent his spiritual sense inside the mask to inspect its contents.
Huh? Leyvi noticed sothing strange.
Imdiately, his spiritual sense ca under attack by a powerful, violent surge of ntal energy. Intense ntal power leaked out from the mask, sweeping through the surrounding area like a shockwave.
Ava, Rose, Lily, and Liyan were all stunned and paralyzed by the terrifying, oppressive force. Their bodies went rigid before collapsing to the ground, helpless against the invasive will.
"Damn kid, who are you? Did you break the restriction? What happened to my disciple Vincent?" A booming, oppressive ntal voice rang in their minds.
The four ladies on the ground felt as though their heads were about to explode. Each word struck them with pulsating ntal impacts.
"Speak!"
Argh! The ladies scread.
Blood began to leak from their noses, ears, and even the pores of their skin as they endured the searing pain.
It was not just them. The very atmosphere trembled. The surrounding trees, stones, and loose debris began to crack and crumble under the invisible pressure.
However, Leyvi was unaffected. Not in the slightest.
He instinctively utilized his Spiritual Touch, weaving layers of spherical barriers around himself. A sudden, clear intuition told him he could contain the violent ntal power and stop it from leaking further.
And his instinct was right. The layered barriers of ntal energy tightened, locking the rampaging ntal force inside.
He could not help but suspect this instinct ca from the body curse, the one that compelled him to protect Rose at all costs.
Seeing that the ladies were no longer affected and their lives were no longer in imdiate danger, he felt a wave of relief.
"Interesting! You, kid, can actually withstand my ntal power. So you killed my beloved disciple Vincent, and now you want his secrets? What a bold kid." The ntal voice spoke again, its tone shifting from rage to cold, calculating interest.
After the commotion settled, Leyvi focused on the mask, forcing his way deeper to reveal what lay inside.
Finally, he saw the source of the ntal power.
A pulsating, azure colored pattern glowed within, fiercely guarding the contents of the storage space.
"A spiritual imprint?" Leyvi murmured more to himself. "What are you doing here?"
It was the first ti he had seen a spiritual imprint so animated, so vividly alive, as if it possessed a will of its own.
"What? Even that Vincent brat couldn’t see my true form here, but you can? I didn’t expect soone much more talented than Vincent to appear. Let
test you." The ntal voice said.
The next mont, a powerful spiritual pressure acted upon Leyvi from all directions, as if trying to compress him into a tiny, invisible dot.
"Hmph." Leyvi countered it with his own spiritual pressure, pushing outward in all directions with a steady, defiant will.
"Hahahaha! Outstanding! Now try resisting this! These are all real things that exist!" The ntal voice rang out again, its tone almost gleeful, as if enjoying a newfound challenge.
Without losing consciousness, Leyvi was suddenly subjected to a sweeping, overwhelming illusion. Countless vivid scenes unfolded before his mind’s eye, each one crafted to tempt him with the deepest human desires. He saw the unimaginable riches of many worlds, the breathtaking beauty of countless species, and the absolute power to lord over an entire galaxy. Each vision was designed to evoke greed, ambition, and longing—at least, that was what the illusion was ant to do.
But Leyvi did not react as expected.
"Amazing, so all of these exist outside our world, huh. Hahaha! That place looks fun. Everything looks like jelly. Maybe I should go there with Anda in the future."
"Wait! There is an entire planet with pandas! What the heck! We must go there too!"
"Holy shit! There really is a giant human race out there. This is dangerous. I can’t tell Anda this. She would definitely want to recruit one of the giant ladies. Look at how massive those lons are."
"Oh, this planet has fox ladies. Maybe Fantylia at ho can copy their design."
"So this is a galaxy? What a terrifying scale. How do you even govern anything of this scale? What a waste of ti. I really can’t understand why anyone wants to make themselves busy like this. I don’t even want to govern a city."
Leyvi continued giving casual, unfiltered comntary on each scene, treating the grand illusions like an interesting travel brochure rather than a temptation.
Soti later, the illusion ended. Everything returned to the previous situation. Although it felt like a long journey, only a few minutes had passed in reality.
"Hahaha! That was a good trip. Oi, spiritual imprint, teach
how to do that illusion. I want to show the sa thing to my wife." Leyvi requested, sounding genuinely enthusiastic.
"..."
The spiritual imprint was utterly speechless.
What the hell is wrong with this kid? Not even the slightest greed manifested from him. Who the hell is this Anda? You aren’t supposed to even think about soone else while seeing all these incredible things.
I am just a remnant spiritual imprint of a formidable spiritual cultivator who once traveled the galaxy. I survived long enough to gain sentience, ford from the greed of every person who ever owned this mask.
That Vincent brat had an overwhelming greed for power. I could grow stronger by feeding on that emotion. It was only a matter of ti before I grew strong enough to assimilate myself into his greed and then slowly take over his body.
I was happy to see that this new brat has formidable talent, even greater than Vincent’s, but dammit, he does not have any greed to feed on! The worst-case scenario for !
Curse it! I am going to lose a lot of progress by spending too much power, but I must kill him and hope the next one has greed and so talent!
A strange, warping ntal power swept outward.
"Huh? What’s this?"
Suddenly, the atmosphere around Leyvi changed. He felt as though reality itself was twisting and distorting, bending away from what was real.
"Die, brat. Spiritual Domain, Almighty Decay!"
"What? A Spiritual Domain?"
He naturally knew what a Spiritual Domain was. The fourth realm of a Spiritual Cultivator. It transford one’s spiritual sense into a personalized domain of control, capable of affecting and changing reality according to one’s own will.
Leyvi watched in disbelief as his body began to rot before his very eyes.
His skin darkened and cracked, turning brittle like dried mud under a scorching sun. Flesh peeled away in layers, dissolving into gray ash that drifted downward before vanishing. A nauseating stench of decay filled his senses as veins shriveled and collapsed, while muscles withered as if centuries of erosion were compressed into a single heartbeat.
Pain followed imdiately.
It was not sharp or explosive, but overwhelming, a suffocating agony that gnawed at every inch of his existence. His vitality was being devoured directly, bypassing flesh and bone, gnawing at the very foundation of his life.
Leyvi’s anger erupted.
Soone had already tried to kill them for no reason, and now a re spiritual imprint wanted his life just as senselessly.
"How dare you!" Leyvi shouted.
His ntal power surged violently. From the depths of his Sea of Consciousness, a brilliant golden beam erupted through his glabella, tearing through space itself. It struck the spiritual imprint head-on, obliterating every layer of ntal defense it attempted to raise.
"What? NOOOOOOOOO!!!!"
The scream was cut short.
The spiritual imprint was erased from existence just like that, leaving nothing behind.
Leyvi staggered.
The decay stopped, but the damage had already been done. His arm trembled as he looked down. Flesh was gone, and beneath it, bone itself was lting, dissolving at the edges like wax held over a fla.
If he had been even a mont slower, he would have truly died.
Without hesitation, Leyvi consud multiple top-tier major healing elixirs. Warmth flooded his body as regeneration surged, rebuilding what had been lost. Flesh reford, bones restored, vitality returning little by little.
Only then did he exhale.
He had not expected sothing like this to happen from rely inspecting soone else’s belongings.
