The Mounted Combat Trials Begin

The coliseum's atmosphere shifted as the next round was announced.

A large holographic panel displayed the next challenge:

[MOUNTED COMBAT: BATTLE OF THE BEASTS]

The remaining 50 players stood in formation, the energy buzzing in the air as they watched the sky darken with magical formations.

"For this round, fighters will clash atop their mounts!" the announcer bood, his voice echoing through the coliseum. "Your beast is your weapon, your shield, and your key to victory! Lose your mount? You lose the match!"

August grinned under his hood, already feeling the excitent in his blood. His Hellhorn Charger, a massive black war beast with flaming hooves and a burning pinkish energy aura, stomped the ground impatiently, steam hissing from its nostrils.

"This is going to be insane," Boris muttered as his Infernal Fangbeast, a monstrous wolf-like creature with lava-coated paws, growled beside him.

Lilo smirked as her Void Panther, a sleek nine-foot-tall beast with an elongated scorpion tail, swayed elegantly beneath her.

Ezran's Runebound Stag, a mystical elk with glowing rune inscriptions, stood calmly but radiated imnse power.

Greg's Plump Featherstrike, which looked like a cross between an eagle and a fat chicken, flapped its stubby wings excitedly.

Greg rubbed its head. "Buddy, this is your mont. Make proud."

The tournant organizers activated the battle formations, creating floating platforms, obstacles, and suspended battle zones around the arena.

"Let's begin the pairings!" the announcer called.

Ezran facepald. "We are so screwed."

BATTLE ONE: ALEMAN VS. KAEL DRAKEBANE

Aleman and Kael stood at opposite ends of the floating battlefield.

Kael, a renowned dragon-knight, sat atop his Sky Wyvern, a serpentine blue-winged beast with lightning crackling along its scales.

"You've made quite a na for yourself, Aleman," Kael said, his voice smooth but nacing. "But your mount is a ground beast. You won't even touch ."

Aleman smirked. "Try ."

The announcer raised his arm.

"BEGIN!"

Kael's wyvern shot into the air, its wings beating fiercely, sending powerful wind currents across the battlefield.

Aleman's Hellhorn Charger dug its hooves into the stone, channeling fire through the ground.

WHOOSH!

Kael dove down, spear glowing with lightning energy.

Aleman dodged sideways, his mount leaping with explosive force, causing the stone platform to crumble behind him.

"You can't run forever!" Kael shouted, his wyvern looping back for another attack.

Aleman smirked before activating Hellhorn Charger's ability.

[FLAMING SURGE!]

His beast charged forward, leaving a trail of burning pink energy behind.

BOOM!

Kael barely evaded, his wyvern shrieking as the heat singed its wings.

"Tch! That's annoying."

Kael summoned multiple lightning spears and hurled them at Aleman.

"[THUNDER SPEAR!]"

Aleman countered by hurling his own thunder-based attack, colliding midair with Kael's assault.

CRACK! BOOM!

Sparks and fire erupted, the battlefield shaking violently.

The wyvern dove again, claws outstretched.

Aleman activated Phantom Blitz, teleporting mid-air, landing on the wyvern's back!

The crowd GASPED.

"He's RIDING THE WYVERN?!"

Kael turned sharply. "WHAT—?!"

Aleman drove his daggers into the beast's back, forcing it to spiral out of control.

As the wyvern crashed toward the platform, Aleman flipped off, landing gracefully on his Hellhorn Charger.

BOOOOM!

Kael and his wyvern skidded across the battlefield, defeated.

"Winner: Aleman!"

The crowd ERUPTED.

BATTLE TWO: LILO VS. REVNA DARKSPINE

Revna, a sinister necromancer, rode a massive Shadow Warg, its fur shifting like smoke.

"Your panther looks cute," Revna mocked.

Lilo smirked. "Cute enough to rip out your throat."

The battle began in a blur of shadow and darkness.

Revna's warg phased in and out of existence, but Lilo's Void Panther matched it step for step.

"[SCORPION TAIL STRIKE!]"

Her panther's tail lashed forward, piercing Revna's warg's flank.

The beast yowled in pain, staggering.

Lilo fired arrows mid-gallop, pelting Revna with a storm of venom-tipped projectiles.

Revna tried to counter with dark magic, but Lilo's panther vanished into the void, reappearing behind her.

"Checkmate."

One final arrow to the head, and Revna was off her mount.

"Winner: Lilo!"

---

Boris charged headfirst at Thrandir, who sat atop a Mammoth the size of a house.

"HAHAHA! CHARGE , FOOL!" Thrandir laughed.

Boris grinned, then activated Infernal Fangbeast's special skill.

"[LAVA STRIDE!]"

His wolf's paws lted the battlefield, creating sinkholes of molten rock.

Thrandir's mammoth roared in agony as it stepped into the burning pits.

Boris leapt, fist glowing with earth-shattering energy.

"[TITAN SLAM!]"

One HUGE punch to the mammoth's skull, and it collapsed.

"Winner: Boris!"

---

BATTLE FOUR: EZRAN VS. LEONIA VOSS

Leonia, a griffon rider, fought Ezran mid-air.

Their mounts clashed in a hurricane of wind and magic.

Ezran summoned blue firestorms, while Leonia countered with thunderous gales.

In the end, Ezran's precision won out, forcing Leonia off her griffon.

"Winner: Ezran!"

---

BATTLE FIVE: GREGARIOUS VS. GALEN THE BONE KNIGHT

Greg barely survived.

Sohow, Plump Featherstrike pecked Galen's Deathcharger in the eye, causing it to freak out and buck its rider off.

Everyone stared in disbelief.

"Winner… Gregarious."

Final 25 Players Remaining!

"Next round will be the most dangerous yet…"

Aleman tightened his grip on the reins.

"Bring it."

After a stop at the cafe on his way ho, August felt the day's events ease as he relaxed.

The cafe, filled with the familiar hum of chatter, offered a brief escape.

He typed out a ssage on the online gaming social platform to the initial buyer, apologizing for the cancellation and promising they'd be the first to hear when he had a new item.

The buyer seed disappointed and was adamant about August selling to them but the deed was done. August kept apologizing and said it wasn't possible.

After a while, August leaned back, sipping a coffee Remi had brought him with her usual bright smile.

"So, how is Mr. Handso today? Is business going well?" Remi teased, leaning over the counter as she took a seat beside him.

August smirked, eting her playful gaze. "Don't worry; when I make my first million, I'll buy this place for you," he joked, raising his coffee in a mock toast.

She laughed, flicking a strand of hair over her shoulder. "You'd better, or I'll start charging you extra for all that attitude."

"As you should," August chuckled while getting to his feet.

"Leaving so soon?" Remi pouted.

"Yeah gotta take care of so stuff," August gave her a nod before bidding her farewell.

Once back ho, he was greeted by the delicious aroma coming from the kitchen.

Sophia had gone all out, preparing his favorite al—sothing he hadn't had in a long ti. She was practically bouncing with excitent as she set the dishes on the table.

"Surprise!" she exclaid with bright eyes as she watched his expression change from surprise to appreciation.

"Sophia, this is amazing! What's the occasion?" August questioned while picking up his fork with a grin.

She shrugged, trying to play it cool, though her cheeks flushed slightly. "Well, you left all that money for my uniform, and I wanted to do sothing nice. Besides, you're always working so hard… I thought you deserved a treat."

They settled down to eat, chatting and laughing between bites. Sophia animatedly shared stories from her day and how she went to the market to get so of the stuff she used in cooking.

She recounted the drama with the "rich girl" at school who had mocked her for the holes in her uniform and now that she could get a new uniform, the rich girl wouldn't be able to do that anymore.

After dinner, he thanked her for the al, playfully ruffling her hair. "I'll say it again, you're the best cook in the family," he joked as she bead.

With his stomach full and his heart light, August finally retired to his room, shutting the door as he settled onto his bed with his phone. He opened his group chat with Boris, Lilo, and Ezran, typing a quick ssage.

~Hey, anyone logging into the ga tonight?~

Boris's reply ca through almost instantly: ~I've got a night shift, man, so no luck here.~

Lilo chid in soon after: ~Ugh, stuck with a deadline for this project, so I'm out too. But next ti, count in for sure!~
