The morning sun filtered through the canopy above, casting gold-flecked shadows over the forest floor. Lucas stirred awake beside the dying embers of the campfire, the relic tomb now sealed behind him. Zephyra perched on a low branch overhead, eyes closed but alert, while Umbra lay curled in the shadows nearby, ears twitching with each forest sound.

Elira stood a few paces away, practicing slow, deliberate sword strikes with her short blade. Luna prowled in a lazy circle around her, tail flicking with each movent.

Lucas sat up, flexing his fingers. The weight of yesterday's revelations still lingered like heat beneath his skin. Beast Fusion. Royal blood. A system that whispered secrets and transford with his growth. And yet, today felt calm. Still.

Perfect for a test.

He stood, brushing leaves from his coat, and focused his mind. The system still lingered—quiet, dormant during its 24-hour update—but one function remained intact: Beast Fusion.

He reached out with his thoughts.

"Umbra. Zephyra. Let's try this."

Both beasts lifted their heads simultaneously. A warm pulse echoed in his chest as the system responded.

DING!

[Beast Fusion: Initiating Partner Sync...]

[Choose Fusion Mode: Umbra / Zephyra]

He chose Umbra first.

The shadows surged.

Umbra's form dissolved into liquid darkness, spiraling toward Lucas like an inky vortex. It enveloped his arms, spiraling around his forearms, solidifying into darkened gauntlets etched with sharp, feline motifs. Each finger ended in a curved black claw, and his muscles thrumd with power.

DING! [Umbra Fusion: Complete]

[Weapon Form: Shadowclaw Gauntlets]

[Skill Access Granted: Shadow Pounce]

Lucas blinked. His vision sharpened, and he could feel the way the shadows bent toward him. He took a step, and the world blurred—he reappeared several ters ahead, crouched like a predator.

"So this is Shadow Pounce..."

Elira turned, eyebrows raised. "You just vanished."

Lucas grinned. "No. I moved."

He dismissed Umbra's fusion, and the gauntlets dissipated in a swirl of shadow. Umbra reford beside him with a quiet growl.

"Now let's try Zephyra."

The dragonling chirped and spread her wings. In an instant, she dissolved into a cyclone of pale wind. The storm condensed around Lucas's forearms again, forming sleek, translucent daggers. They vibrated faintly with coiled energy.

DING! [Zephyra Fusion: Complete]

[Weapon Form: Stormfang Twin-Blades]

[Skill Access Granted: Gale Dash]

Lucas slashed the air. The blades humd. When he stepped forward, the world streaked past him. In less than a heartbeat, he was behind Elira, wind tousling her hair.

"Gale Dash... is fast," he muttered.

Elira turned slowly. "You could kill soone before they blink."

Lucas dismissed the daggers, and Zephyra reford in the air with a happy chirp.

"So... shadow claws or storm blades. Both co with a skill."

Elira crossed her arms. "Sounds like you're ready for a test."

Lucas tilted his head. "Spar?"

She smirked. "Gladly."

...

They moved to a clearing near the tomb, where the earth was flat and clear of debris. Luna sat at the edge, watching. Zephyra and Umbra took opposite flanks, giving their tars space.

Lucas rolled his shoulders. "First to yield?"

Elira nodded, drawing her blade. "Don't hold back."

Lucas activated Zephyra's fusion first. The Stormfang Daggers humd in his grip.

They charged.

Elira opened with a feint, striking high then rolling low. Lucas dashed to the side with Gale Dash, barely avoiding her blade. He countered with a flurry of strikes, the daggers blurring like wind. Elira deflected with swift parries, each motion controlled and efficient.

She wasn't just fast—she was calculating.

She used the terrain, driving Lucas toward a low ridge. When he leapt, she threw a dust bomb from her belt. The cloud burst midair—

He choked, falling into a roll, vision blurred. She was on him in a flash, blade pressing against his gauntlet.

Lucas smirked and vanished with Shadow Pounce, swapping to Umbra's fusion mid-fight. He appeared behind her and struck—but she spun with uncanny reflexes, blocking the blow.

Their weapons clashed, claws against steel, the shockwave echoing through the woods.

"You're good," Lucas panted.

"So are you," Elira replied. Sweat beaded her brow, but her eyes glead.

Lucas feinted left, then dashed right, aiming for her flank. Elira slid low and kicked out his leg. He hit the ground hard, rolled, and flipped back onto his feet.

"She's reading ," he realized. "Predicting my choices two moves ahead."

He shifted again—Zephyra fusion. Faster this ti.

They traded blows again, faster now, each adapting. Lucas used Gale Dash for unpredictable angles. Elira laid traps—dirt thrown to obscure vision, false openings. The battle beca chess with blades.

Finally, Lucas landed a glancing strike across her ribs. Elira stepped back, blade raised—but her stance wavered.

"I yield," she said.

Lucas lowered his weapons, breath heavy. "You sure?"

She nodded. "You won. But only just."

He offered a hand. She took it.

"You fight like a war tactician," he said.

"And you fight like a monster," she replied, grinning.

...

They sat under a tree to cool down, water skins in hand.

DING! [System Update: Complete]

[New Features Unlocked: Party Interface | Team Status Panel]

Lucas sat up straighter.

[Party System: You may now form a team. Add allies to your party to view their status, synchronize combat data, and boost coordination efficiency.]

A new nu blinked before his eyes: [Add Party mber?]

He looked at Elira.

"Hey," he said, "May I... try sothing?"

She raised an eyebrow. "As long as it doesn't involve more bruises."

Lucas reached out ntally.

[Invite Party mber: Elira Windshade?]

A faint shimr passed through the air. Elira blinked. "Did you feel that?"

Lucas nodded. "Yeah. You're in."

He opened the new panel.

[Party: Lucas Carter (Leader), Elira Windshade]

[Elira Windshade – Level 10 Beast Tar]

[Beast: Luna – Type: Wind Lynx – Affinity: Wind] [

Skills: Wind Walk | Illusory Strike | Hunter's Mark]

He exhaled. "This... will help."

Elira tilted her head. "What did you do?"

"Synced our teams. Strategically."

She narrowed her eyes, then smiled faintly. "You are becoming sothing else."

...

By late afternoon, they had packed up and begun their return to Greystone. The road was quiet, but the forest felt... wrong. No birdsong. No wind. Even Luna bristled.

Zephyra flew higher, scanning the canopy.

Then—

A screech split the air.

White figures dropped from the trees.

Six of them. Pale, muscular, hunched. Ape-like but not natural. Their eyes glowed faintly blue. One let out a guttural hiss.

"Scouts," Lucas muttered.

Elira drew her blade. "Tide."

The creatures circled, knuckles scraping the dirt, heads twitching like they could hear thoughts.

Zephyra landed beside Lucas, growling. Umbra bared his fangs.

Lucas stepped forward, both hands raised.

"Fusion."

The beasts surged. Lucas activated dual-fusion, summoning one weapon after the other.

Shadow. Wind. Power.

He smiled coldly. "Surround us all you like."

Elira stood back-to-back with him, eyes fierce.

"We'll tear through."

The white apes scread and charged.

Lucas t them head-on.

And the forest exploded into battle.
