He was running out of ti to think.

The creature was standing outside the camp’s range, where the Arrow Towers couldn’t reach it. This was the first ti he’d encountered a Ghost Object that could attack the City Wall from beyond the camp’s periter.

And for so reason—whether it was obsessive-compulsive or simply out of range...

...it wasn’t attacking the section of the City Wall he was standing on.

Instead, it just kept attacking the four walls of the farm.

"BOOM."

As another beam of green light shot out, the four walls of the farm collapsed.

His farm was gone.

Then, the creature’s gaze shifted to him. It raised the Glowing Green Lantern again, and a beam of eerie green light shot out from it as if there were no cooldown at all, slamming heavily into the City Wall beneath him.

A violent tremor ran through the structure.

A massive Deep Pit was blasted into the City Wall below.

In the blink of an eye, it was rapidly repaired.

’The repair speed is still pretty fast.’

But...

...his fucking Ghost Stones were limited! Just repairing that one Deep Pit had consud three Ghost Stones!

How many repairs could his eight hundred-so Ghost Stones even cover!

"Calm down."

Chen Fan took a deep breath, trying his best to remain calm as he watched the Mourning Ghost outside the camp raise its Glowing Green Lantern once more.

The next mont—

He pulled ten Level 2 Ghost Stones from his pocket and crushed them on the spot.

-

[The Ghost Fire has been upgraded to Level 4. The safe zone has increased to a 100-ter diater. Deterrence against Ghost Objects has been enhanced.]

[Please select an Upgrade Direction.]

[1: Increase safe zone to a 200-ter diater.]

[2: Moderately enhance deterrence against Ghosts.]

[3: Slightly reduce crop maturation ti within the camp.]

-

He quickly scanned the Upgrade Directions and, with barely a mont’s thought, chose the first option.

The Ghost Fire’s range extended to a 200-ter diater.

The next mont!

The Level 4 Arrow Fortress, which had been standing ready, fired instantly. A flaming Crossbow Arrow pierced the curtain of rain, flew over the heads of the other Mourning Ghosts, and precisely struck the one holding the Glowing Green Lantern.

In his eyes, the scene seed to unfold in slow motion.

He subconsciously held his breath.

Not until the Mourning Ghost fell backward and slamd onto the ground...

...did Chen Fan finally break into a smile.

"Perfect."

’If the enemy is outside the camp’s range, then I just need to expand the range.’

Before upgrading the Ghost Fire, he had specifically ordered the Level 4 Arrow Fortress to cease firing. This was to ensure it could fire the instant the camp’s range expanded, avoiding any attack cooldown. It seed the plan had worked beautifully.

The enemy clearly hadn’t reacted in ti to the sudden expansion of the camp’s periter.

"Is it dead?"

La Monkey and the others stared nervously at the Mourning Ghost. The mont this thing had appeared, everyone realized tonight might be their last night of the rainy season.

Even Zhou Mo and Big Fish had been woken by the commotion and ca to the City Wall to help.

However...

The smile that had just appeared on Chen Fan’s face slowly froze.

The Mourning Ghost with the Glowing Green Lantern split. It split into two Mourning Ghost leaders.

This was normal.

After all, other Mourning Ghosts also split after death; it was a characteristic of this type of Ghost Object.

But—

why were both of these Mourning Ghost leaders holding a Glowing Green Lantern?!

When the others split, only the original had a lantern.

"No way..."

Chen Fan muttered, a flash of fear in his eyes, clinging to a final shred of hope.

But when both Mourning Ghosts raised their Glowing Green Lanterns and two beams of green light shot out, striking the City Wall beneath him almost simultaneously, that shred of hope vanished.

"BOOM..."

A deafening crash erupted.

The section of City Wall beneath him was utterly destroyed. His prized automatic repair system didn’t even have ti to activate. A Level 2 Arrow Tower collapsed along with the wall, crumbling into the ruins.

A three-ter-long gap appeared in the City Wall.

A swarm of Mourning Ghosts poured through the breach.

This was the first ti the City Wall had been breached in the camp’s entire history.

"Young Master!"

La Monkey’s anxious shout ca from the City Wall.

The mont the green light had lanced out, everyone on the wall had scrambled to the sides on pure instinct.

...

"..."

Chen Fan wiped the rain from his face and looked across the gap at La Monkey and the others. With no ti to worry about casualties, he could only roar at the top of his lungs, "Hold the stone steps!"

The Mourning Ghosts couldn’t climb walls.

Even with the wall breached, as long as they defended the stone steps leading up to the ramparts, they would be safe for a short while.

"Let’s see how many fucking tis you can split!"

The Level 4 Arrow Fortress’s Crossbow Arrow shot out again.

The two Mourning Ghost leaders fell once more.

But...

...they were imdiately replaced by four who rose to their feet. Each leader held a Glowing Green Lantern. The four beams of eerie green light rged into a single column, which then slamd into the section of wall where La Monkey and the others stood.

The wall collapsed again.

After demolishing the wall, the attack continued unabated, striking the Wooden House.

"BOOM..."

The Wooden House collapsed as well.

"Fuck!"

Chen Fan couldn’t help but curse. It wasn’t just because the camp was in imminent danger; it was because he had built every structure in this camp with his own two hands, piece by piece. To see it all so wantonly destroyed felt like a knife to the heart.

But there was no ti for emotions.

A Mourning Ghost was already raising its lantern to smash the Ghost Fire inside the camp.

All the other buildings could fall.

But the Ghost Fire could not.

If the Ghost Fire was destroyed, all the buildings would beco useless. That would be a death sentence.

"Aim for the limbs!"

Chen Fan roared the command to the Arrow Towers. They could receive simple orders. Though ti was short, he had quickly found a counterasure—he just had to stop them from splitting again!

He looked outside the walls.

The four Mourning Ghost leaders had their arms pierced by precisely aid Crossbow Arrows, pinning them to the ground, unable to move.

’Good thing they don’t move, or that wouldn’t have been so easy.’

However—

The next mont, he saw the surrounding lesser Mourning Ghosts step forward and use their own lanterns to smash their leaders to death. Then, the leaders split again.

Eight beams of eerie green light slamd toward the City Wall beneath him.

Yes, eight!

This thing’s splitting pattern was different from the others. It was fucking exponential!

...

"I’m gonna die, I’m gonna die."

Chen Fan’s lips turned pale. He scrambled across the City Wall in the rainy night, rapidly crushing Ghost Stones in his hands to build a ring of walls, securely protecting the Ghost Fire in the center and repairing the destroyed sections of the main City Wall.

As the phantom outlines of the walls quickly solidified, the breach in the City Wall was sealed.

’This thing’s power... it’s strong enough to attack Jiangbei City!’

He believed...

...that even Jiangbei City would have a hard ti withstanding this kind of assault!

"Brother..."

"Brother..."

Just then, a woman’s sobbing voice reached his ears, mingling with the sound of the rain. It sounded as if it was at the edge of the world, yet right beside him.
