Ning Yichen couldn’t help but chuckle and handed the rose to a nearby bodyguard, "Take it to Miss Gu’s room."

"You weren’t giving it to ?" Zhixi said with a smile.

"Are you planning to go to the restaurant holding such a big bunch of flowers?" Ning Yichen said irritably as he opened the car door for her, "Get in the car."

Zhixi glanced at the roses in the bodyguard’s hand, her expression montarily stunned.

She suddenly rembered the ti at Hades Manor when the entire restaurant was filled with flowers, that dreamlike scene... Would she ever have the chance to see it again?

"What’s wrong?" Ning Yichen saw her lost in thought and couldn’t help but speak up to remind her.

Zhixi shook her head: "It’s nothing."

After speaking, she bent down to get into the car.

Fortunately, over the four years, she had learned how to restrain her longing and had beco accustod to the days without him. Otherwise, she would surely be in agonizing pain now...

...

Tonight, the restaurant Ning Yichen booked was very quiet, with a quaint and charming environnt.

To better view the night scene, they did not go to a private room, but chose to sit in a booth instead.

Ning Yichen passed her the nu, "The food here is quite good; see what you’d like to eat."

"Since you’re more familiar with this place, you pick," Zhixi smiled, "I’m not picky."

Ning Yichen didn’t insist and, after flipping through the nu for a while, suddenly said with composure, "Actually, I’ve never been here either. It’s a friend who recomnded it to ."

Zhixi chuckled: "This style of restaurant, girls would probably like it more, right? Is your friend a woman?"

Ning Yichen was slightly embarrassed and mumbled an "uh-huh," "Well, I’ll just look and order. It should be decent."

After speaking, he waved to summon the waiter.

Once they had ordered, he turned and saw Zhixi staring at him intently.

"Is there sothing wrong?" she asked.

"No," he denied calmly, "Miss Gu, don’t forget that I am currently pursuing you."

Zhixi had no choice but to suppress her curiosity.

"By the way, have you heard anything about Su Lianxi these past years?" Zhixi suddenly asked.

Although she and Su Lianxi had long stopped associating with each other, thinking back on Su Lianxi’s past predicants, she couldn’t help but ask.

Ning Yichen’s gaze deepened, and he humd calmly, "She’s doing well. You don’t need to worry about her."

"How..." Zhixi sensed there was a story there.

"She’s Su Lianxi after all, always able to seize every opportunity that is in her favor," Ning Yichen smiled slightly, "But at least, she’s not as hopeless as before."

"That’s good," Zhixi nodded, then curiously said, "Are you still in contact with her?"

"No," Ning Yichen’s smile carried a hint of irony, "It’s just due to work that I occasionally hear news about her."

Work reasons... This man was the Secretary beside the President, why would his job involve news about Su Lianxi?

Although Zhixi was curious, knowing that his position probably made it inconvenient to reveal information, she wisely didn’t ask further.

Before long, the dishes were served. The two began their al in silence, with Ning Yichen occasionally raising his glass to her as a gesture, making them seem indeed like a harmonious couple.

At that mont, a slender figure erged from the stairwell. She was clearly coming from a private room and was about to leave with her head down, but her gaze imdiately landed on Ning Yichen and Gu Zhixi seated by the window.
