"Little Feng~"
The ethereal call sailed through his mind from the Blood Eye mask, sounding like a ghostly wail from the endless Netherworld, yet also like the faint celestial voice of a Goddess.
It reverberated both near and far, inexplicably causing Xia Feng’s scalp to tingle. He instinctively threw the mask away.
"Thud—"
The mask, immune to consumption by the Blood Beast, fell silently to the ground. The Blood Eye on the mask flickered, adding an eerie atmosphere to the dim room.
"What the hell?" Xia Feng’s heart filled with suspicion, the voice from the mask sounded eerily familiar. Was that... Sister Yi’s voice?!
Hey, Sister Yi... who is she again? Clutching his forehead, Xia Feng furrowed his brows in deep thought before recalling the gentle smile of a girl from his mories, triggered when He Jianzhu had touched his forehead.
That girl seed... to have always been with him since he was a naive child, relying on each other since childhood.
Probably from before he turned 14.
But why would her voice be in this mask? Xia Feng squinted his dark pupils, pensively staring at the bizarre mask on the floor.
Could she be sealed inside this mask? Thinking this, Xia Feng shook his head; it seed unlikely. This mask was standard issue for mbers of the Burning Heaven Temple, everyone had one. This situation felt more like—
’Sister Yi’ had sealed her voice inside the mask?
And in all masks, no less!
If this conjecture was right, then Sister Yi might be a high-ranking official of the Burning Heaven Temple?
And this voice... Xia Feng roughly understood; this voice could probably only be heard by him, since if everyone who got a mask could hear it, that would be too strange.
Thinking about this possibility, Xia Feng hesitated for a mont but couldn’t resist his curiosity. He wanted to know more about this mysterious girl; in his fuzzy mory, Sister Yi was a very gentle older sister.
He took a deep breath, bent down, and placed his hand on the mask, pressing it.
"Hehehe~ my dear little brother, your sister has finally found you~~~"
The ethereal female voice ca again, but this ti it was inexplicably terrifying, like a female ghost clinging to his spine, her cold lips whispering a low laugh by his ear, making his soul tremble.
"Ah? Truly been blocked by fate?"
"I sensed it, so why can’t I locate you?"
"Little Feng~ where are you~~ you, are, where, are~~~"
"Clatter—"
Xia Feng threw the mask away, his face rigid: "ow, I’m out."
He had initially been curious about finding this mysterious girl to retrieve his mories, but now... it seed unnecessary.
Completely unnecessary!
Just hearing the voice, he could feel the woman’s terror and insanity.
Better not to contact her easily, Xia Feng shook his head, "Better focus on what’s important."
Guided by his intuition, he walked to the window and pulled the curtains open. Through the glass, he could see an endless sea of blue flowers outside.
In the middle of the flower sea stood a semi-transparent crystal European castle, surrounded by blossoms like a scene from a fairy tale.
According to Miss Jianzhu’s candlelight sense, the Holy Liquid was around that castle.
To sense it accurately, he would need to get even closer and narrow the search area.
"Sss—"
At that mont, an electronic screen on the right side of the bed in the room suddenly lit up, and a man’s impatient voice ca from it: "Granny Ding, I heard you’ve captured Xia Feng? I’m warning you, don’t you dare eat him yourself—that’s soone important people are after! Hurry up, get him changed and bring him in."
"Did you hear that?!"
"Coming." Xia Feng mimicked Granny Ding’s voice, whispering while looking around; a handle next to the electronic screen appeared to be the way into a further space.
In a corner wall cabinet hung several white uniforms.
He quickly dressed in the uniform and, with a kick, sent the Blood Eye mask under the bed before straightening his clothes and pressing the handle.
Upon opening the door, Xia Feng was surprised to find a pure white corridor outside, the walls lined with innurable doors that opened one after another, releasing n and won in white uniforms, mostly won, ranging from eight to forty-eight years old.
After exiting, everyone turned right.
Xia Feng moved along with the flow of people unnoticed, and soon, he passed a tall door that led to complete darkness.
The next mont, lights inside turned on one by one, dispelling the darkness with bright light that illuminated the entire one-hundred-ter-long corridor.
On both sides of the corridor were hundreds of hibernation chambers marked with bright red numbers, filled with dark green hibernation fluid.
Within these dark green liquids were naked human bodies.
However, these humans were noticeably damaged; so limbless like disfigured pigs, others with facial burns horrific to behold, none of them intact.
They all lay with their eyelids lowered, serenely asleep in the middle of the hibernation fluid, and the surrounding green liquid seed to have a miraculous effect, slowly healing their injuries.
Xia Feng noticed that, among these humans, there were also a few Evil Beasts scattered around.
As Xia Feng passed by hibernation chamber number 41, he looked up.
The creature inside had a human-like form but was two ters tall.
It was bare-chested with a hunchback, its body covered in explosive red muscle masses, pale disheveled hair flopping over its shoulders and neck like hay, and lifeless red round eyes staring ahead; it looked dead, but the scorpion-tail-like white spikes growing from the back of its head, sensing sothing, fiercely struck the glass chamber.
"Bang—bang—bang!!"
No one in the crowd outside paid any attention to the creature’s anomaly; Xia Feng’s gaze shifted to a silver plaque beneath the chamber that read:
"White Scorpion Evil, Two-eyed Level, astonishing strength, sensitive to light sources; even after death, its biotic touch will attack enemies autonomously based on light sources, biotic touch is highly toxic."
"Note: When mating with humans, the biotic touch secretes pheromones, having a strong effect of enhancing desire."
Reading the note, Xia Feng frowned—a dreadful idea ca to his mind. This horrendous place...was it really so twisted?
Just then, soone tapped his shoulder, and he turned to look without changing expression, greeted by a haggard-looking woman who spoke calmly:
"Are you new here?"
"You could tell?" Xia Feng asked, surprised.
"Very obvious." The woman looked at the surrounding crowd and said softly, "Being tornted here for a while turns you into one of them. You stand out quite a bit in here."
Xia Feng also looked up and noticed that the people here had expressionless faces, chanically moving forward like zombies, never revealing any emotions regardless of what was happening around them.
"You carry an aura of the wild, do you know Wen Zaiye?" the haggard woman suddenly asked.
"Wen Zaiye?"
Xia Feng certainly rembered him; he had been wanted by the Black Moon Church and had fled to Mi Jia Calamity Realm in Yuanhe Town, and it was because of him lurking around Yuanhe Town that Mu Qingtong had managed to find the Yuanhe Orphanage.
Thinking it over, he nodded, "I know him, what about it?"
"Is he still alive?" the woman asked nervously.
