Within a mont’s ti, Earl Orkot had already followed the flow of people towards Comrcial Street and, in the blink of an eye, his figure had disappeared.
Marvin stood still, watching as accompanying soldiers made inquiries about a hotel and then headed toward it, before he himself made a beeline for Wendell’s shop.
He had to speak to his captain about the Lord’s visit.
He didn’t know what the Lord’s intentions for Hope Village were, but if relations turned sour, the trade between the two places was highly likely to be affected, and they needed to prepare in advance for that.
In a short while, Marvin had already arrived at the Magic Equipnt Store run by their rcenary Team.
At this ti, the shop was crowded with people, and the staff greeting custors were too busy to cope.
As the boss, Wendell was relatively relaxed, only occasionally helping to entertain so custors.
Seeing Marvin arrive, he sent off a custor and then approached him.
"What’s wrong?" Seeing Marvin with a noticeably worried expression, unlike the usual excitent, Wendell felt sothing must have happened, so he directly asked.
"The Lord ca." Marvin hurriedly said.
The Lord?
When he heard this, Wendell was stunned for a second, quickly realizing they were speaking of Earl Orkot of Bengela Town.
"What did he co to Hope Village for?" Wendell asked urgently.
Marvin quickly told him what happened, not forgetting to ntion that they had encountered several rcenary Teams from Hope Village on the road.
After listening, Wendell’s expression beca thoughtful, and after a while, he finally spoke, "Perhaps the Lord is considering whether Hope Village is worth wooing."
"Huh? He’s not here to cause trouble?" Marvin asked instinctively, still favoring this idea in his mind.
"Perhaps he had that idea at first, but after seeing the potential of Hope Village, he might have changed his mind. Once he finishes looking at Hope Village, he’s likely to make a decision," Wendell said directly. "At present, Bengela Town doesn’t have much of an advantage over Hope Village in terms of military strength."
"Interdiate Professionals..." The Professionals in Hope Village are still mostly Basic!
"You may not be aware because you just ca back, but after the Upgrade of the Special Buildings, we can hire four rcenaries each ti. Two Special Buildings, that’s eight, and all eight are Interdiate Professionals. Eight a day, it has been going on for several days now. If Hope Village wants Interdiate Professionals, it can be said that they can have as many as they want," Wendell had compared the strength of Hope Village with that of Bengela Town in his mind, and he already had a bottom line about this incident.
The two territories couldn’t afford a conflict.
Especially since the Lord is a smart man, why would he do sothing that harms others without benefiting himself?
"I rember for each Upgrade of a Special Building, the cost in Gold Coins is double the last ti. Currently, Hope Village’s Special Buildings are Level 3, which needs 400 Gold Coins each; two Special Buildings, that’s 800 Gold Coins, plus the Interdiate Professionals employed by Hope Village, with 2 Gold Coins each month. Assuming it’s 100 people, that’s 2000 Gold Coins a month..." Marvin counted more and more surprised.
These costs are truly frightening.
A regular territory really can’t afford that.
This is why many territories’ summoning Special Buildings are practically ineffective, so don’t even unlock them because directly supporting 100 Interdiate Professionals isn’t as expensive, and that’s not even a long-term investnt.
"Hope Village can afford it," Wendell stated directly. "Before, Hope Village already supported over a hundred Undead and Beastn, which also cost over a thousand Gold Coins a month. Later on, they didn’t summon any more because they felt the number of soldiers was enough to match the developnt of the territory. In the following period, they didn’t summon, but devoted themselves completely to the training of their territory’s Professionals. Now that Hope Village has beco a Level 3 village, they started summoning again and are likely to continue for a while, until Hope Village feels it has enough."
Listening on, Marvin couldn’t help but exclaim, "Hope Village really has money."
Gold Coins are indeed one of the standards for asuring the strength of a territory to so extent.
Having Gold Coins doesn’t necessarily guarantee success for a territory, but without them, success is certainly unattainable.
"So after confirming that military force couldn’t conquer Hope Village, the Lord will make the right choice," Wendell said firmly.
"...Yes." With this final assurance, Marvin felt much more at ease.
However, it seed as if sothing had just dawned on him and he added another sentence, "Captain, if Bengala Town really becos hostile towards Hope Village, how would you choose?"
Wendell listened and glanced sidelong at Marvin, saying indifferently, "For now, I do not consider that question."
Marvin, hearing this, imdiately shut his mouth; he should not have asked.
But, based on his understanding of the captain, as long as the captain didn’t say it was Bengala Town, to a certain extent, he already leaned towards Hope Village.
Looking into Marvin’s eyes, Wendell knew what he was thinking.
However, it didn’t matter if the other party had guessed it; after all, all his actions were currently supporting Bengala Town, and it wasn’t too much just to think about it in his heart, right?
Hope Village is indeed a "Utopia" that people yearn for!
And Wendell and Marvin’s conclusion that Hope Village is wealthy was also what Earl Orkot felt at that mont.
Through his eyes and so conversations from people around him, he had roughly grasped the current composition of Hope Village.
It was by understanding it that he knew what a significant investnt it took for Hope Village to develop its territory to this stage in just over two months.
When he first set up Bengala Town, his entire family was behind him, providing full support—money, people, goods... Under such circumstances, although his territory also developed into a Level 3 village in about two months, a Level 3 village did not have the scale of Hope Village, nor had it already established a mature economic systeml like Hope Village.
It was only after becoming a Level 3 village that he took a series of asures to invigorate the territory, turning it into the current "Silver Craftsman Capital."
With the comparison, his perception of Hope Village rose to a new level.
"This Hope Village indeed has so strength," Earl Orkot thought, when Multa could not help but speak out to his side.
Before coming, he had not taken Hope Village, a Level 3 village, seriously, but as they traveled, his views genuinely began to change bit by bit.
By now, Hope Village had left a profound impression in his mind, indelibly so.
Indeed, a territory that could unsettle Bengala Town’s foundations was truly exceptional.
And when asking this question, Multa also paid attention to his Lord’s expression.
Earl Orkot didn’t get angry, after all Multa spoke the truth, and he nodded in agreent, "It is quite powerful indeed."
"What are your plans, my Lord?" Multa queried.
"Let’s treat it as a vacation! And in the anti, let’s learn so experience. So things about Hope Village and so thoughts of the residents are quite novel," Earl Orkot said candidly.
Originally, when he knew about the abundance of dual-class professionals in Hope Village, he desired to have Hope Village beco a subordinate territory of his own; he was willing to persuade his family to invest in Hope Village and, after helping Bengala Town beco the ’king’ of the region, he would also make Hope Village into one of the top cities.
But after seeing the situation in Hope Village, he understood that if he used forceful thods it would only lead to mutual destruction, leaving only one choice.
"May the best party prevail."
Of course, there was still a precondition to this; Bengala Town currently held an absolute advantage.
Compared to the increasingly mature Bengala Town, Hope Village still had a long road ahead for its future!
Fasal Village, Lovisa City... he unexpectedly heard of the existence of these two territories here, and Earl Orkot very clearly understood that while Hope Village currently looked resplendent, it was also fraught with crises internally.
Whether it could survive this difficulty was yet to be seen.
Of course, the situation regarding territories like Fasal Village and Lovisa City was information only important mbers of his family knew, and he did not plan to tell anyone, including his confidants.
Multa was silent, his Lord’s choice was both unexpected and predictable.
Could it be said that for now, Hope Village, with its own strength, had "conquered" their Lord?
