Chapter 191: Chapter 114: All Mages

“Could be a hunting party from Bengala Town,” Ellis realized imdiately, then conjectured.

After all, they were only two or three hours away from Bengala Town.

Bengala Town, with a population of several tens of thousands, faced fierce competition for resources nearby its territory.

Additionally, daily expenditures within the territory were not small; indeed, so people would travel further to hunt and gather where it was less crowded.

So people even consistently chose a specific Magic Beast Group, having mastered the techniques to confront them.

Of course, those who could choose consistently were usually either powerful teams from the territory or teams with strong backing; otherwise, hunting Magic Beasts outside the territory depended purely on one’s own abilities.

“Running that far?” Zhou Bai looked at Ellis in surprise.

“With more people, the range of activity expands,” Ellis simply stated, then repeated the thoughts he had just shared with Zhou Bai.

Since he had decided to stay in Hope Village, it was natural to seek more patrons.

Captain Bayle was one; this village chief was another.

On this basis, his attitude towards Zhou Bai naturally beca much more attentive, willing to show commitnt wherever possible and to offer help wherever he could.

Listening to Ellis’s response, Zhou Bai felt more assured.

So that was the basic operation within the territory.

Thinking it over, Hope Village was now doing the sa; the area within the territory no longer t the needs of its residents, and they too planned to expand outward.

Looking again at the shift in Ellis’s deanor, a hint of deep thought passed through her eyes.

She had noticed the change in Ellis’s attitude much earlier.

While Ellis had warned them about Demon Beasts before, it was nothing like the ticulous attention that ca later.

When had the change occurred?

Right, it was after the encounter with the Storm Demon Snake.

What could have happened during the confrontation with the Storm Demon Snake that might have changed their minds?

Suddenly, mories of when all the Professionals had initially surged ca back to her mind.

That was when she realized that no matter what, these people would all end up choosing the Mage profession.

Later, she observed the rcenaries they had hired, and she noticed that they mostly chose only one profession, and not everyone could beco a Mage.

Could that be the reason?

Zhou Bai felt her speculation must be mostly correct, with the last piece of the puzzle likely to be confird once they reached Bengala Town.

As for now, whether it was the case or not, retaining Ellis and his group was beneficial for Hope Village.

Hope Village needed more such rcenaries.

“Thank you, you’ve been a great help to us along the way,” Zhou Bai expressed her gratitude to Ellis without hesitation.

Ellis, startled by her thanks, quickly responded, “No need to be so formal, it’s what I should do.”

Had it been earlier, he would have said it was because they were partners, but now, his words had subtly changed.

It was also a way of signaling his attitude to Zhou Bai.

The village chief would surely understand.

Indeed, Zhou Bai did understand. She didn’t need his words to grasp it, but after hearing them, she openly expressed her own stance, “That’s true, we’re all in this together, no need for excessive formality. After we enter Bengala Town, I’ll still need to trouble you a lot!”

“My pleasure,” Ellis smiled.

The two reached an understanding and quickly moved past the topic, refocusing their attention on the battle ahead.

“Should we go check out the situation? Could it lead to any misunderstandings?” Zhou Bai asked.

If they, a large group, suddenly appeared while others were dealing with a Magic Beast Group, might it cause unease among the others?

Ellis glanced at Zhou Bai and directly answered, “In a wilderness battle against Magic Beasts, teams like them would have sentinels around; maybe we’ve already been spotted. But we’re just passing by. As long as we don’t interfere with their prey, there shouldn’t be any problems.”

They were many and strong; the others would likely not provoke them carelessly.

Zhou Bai understood his aning and took a long breath inwardly, “Let’s go!”

As they continued towards the place where the fight was taking place, the opposing team’s scouts had indeed spotted them, assessing their numbers and levels before quickly retreating to report the situation.

At this mont, at the Golden Peng’s nest of the Magic Beast Group.

A group of Professionals was heading towards the Golden Peng with a huge vine net, which, upon being unleashed, clung to the Golden Peng. The vines seed to co to life, rapidly entangling the Golden Peng tightly.

Although the Golden Peng was a sovereign of the skies, unbeatable in the air, once entangled, it lost its greatest advantage and could only be slaughtered by others.

Struggling desperately in the net, its trendous strength appeared as though it might drag those holding the net into the sky.

This was feasible, but they couldn’t gather enough strength in a short ti. Once they had accumulated enough, they could fly up instantly.

The team of Professionals took advantage of this brief delay to unhesitatingly deploy various skills, ultimately capturing the Golden Peng in a specially made iron cage.

The greatest value of the Golden Peng was its ability to fly.

It was the most popular flying magical beast in the Human Clan Kingdom, captured and then tad for selling at a high price.

Of course, Golden Pengs were proud creatures, and successful taming cases were very rare. However, once tad, the returns were incredibly high, attracting countless people to pursue them.

Maria was the captain of this team.

Looking at the three live Golden Pengs they had successfully captured, a faint smile appeared on Maria’s face.

Capturing these three made the trip worthwhile.

Just as Maria was preparing for a second capture, she suddenly spotted two scouts rushing back in haste.

“What happened?” Maria frowned, knowing that the scouts running back ant trouble.

“There’s a team of over two hundred people coming towards us from the south, and there are Beastn guards among them!” one of the scouts, Charles, said urgently.

What concerned them was the presence of Beastn.

Everyone knew how formidable Beastn were; given their power, they were never polite to humans, and those who could employ Beastn were not to be taken lightly.

Their team had finally gotten their turn to capture Golden Pengs and definitely had to seize it well. If this team disturbed them, their loss would be significant, as they had indeed spent quite a few coins for this opportunity.

Maria listened, her brows furrowing even more.

Beastn were a real nuisance!

A team that could control Beastn was even more troubleso!

“Did they send any scouts?” Maria continued.

“No,” Charles shook his head. “But they’ve noticed the activity here and are heading towards us.”

Listening, Maria glanced in the direction from which Charles and his companion had co, sensing carefully.

Upon sensing, Maria’s entire deanor froze, her expression abruptly changing.

“Captain? What’s wrong?” Seeing Maria’s shocked look, the others beca alert.

“I sensed that there are over two hundred mages coming from that direction, which ans almost their entire team is composed of mages,” Maria said in astonishnt.

Such a team composition was indeed impressive!

Though there were no high-level mages, nearly everyone was a mage.

What kind of team was this???

“So many!” Charles exclaid, then suggested, “Should we retreat quickly?”

It didn’t matter if they couldn’t capture any more Golden Pengs; they couldn’t afford to have the ones they’d caught snatched away!

Maria took a deep breath and after a mont, pursed her lips and said, “That direction, it’s possible they’re heading towards our town. Since they’re headed for the town, there’s a very small chance they’re coming to start trouble.”

The next mont, Maria instructed the team to continue capturing Golden Pengs.

They had gone to great lengths to attract the attention of the creatures and couldn’t let them go now!

They needed to worry about other teams in Bengela Town, but they didn’t have to worry about outside teams coming their way just yet.

It was at this ti that Zhou Bai, escorted by Beastman NPCs, ca into view of Maria and her team!

Maria imdiately observed him, her expression still cautious.

It was during these monts that Zhou Bai arrived, eting Maria’s vigilant gaze. From a distance, Zhou Bai called out, “We’re just passing through!”
