Hao Yueliang stepped out of the private room, and inside, Song Chengguang and Hao Xingxing remained silent, exchanging looks as they assessed and tested each other. After a long while, Hao Xingxing was the first to break the silence, asking the question she most wanted to ask at that mont, "Why?"

Why would he agree? This was the question that most puzzled and troubled her at the mont, it was agonizing. Clearly not one for impulsive decisions, as could be seen from the prolonged silence, there was no joking in his manner. Thus, she understood even less how he could suddenly agree, and do so in such an unexpected fashion.

"Because I'm not young anymore, and my family has been pressing ," Song Chengguang replied without much concealnt. He truly felt that the girl before him was quite suitable for marriage. She had her own career and wasn't clingy, completely different from her when she was a child. She could be independent and had managed to fend for herself at a young age, without needing his protection over every small matter. Although he was willing to provide his future wife with security, as a military man, he might not have much ti to spend with her. Since she could rely on her efforts to have her own place in Imperial City, a city of luxury with exorbitant housing prices, he truly admired that.

He thought, such a woman, even if she had her weak monts, wouldn't be so weak as to cause him headaches. Having seen his parents' relationship, Song Chengguang believed that a woman must be like his mother, able to grace a hall and run a kitchen, not a full-ti housewife, thriving in both career and love, and even managing her business more successfully than most people while appearing to have plenty of free ti. That intelligence and capability were rare.

Rarely did won manage both aspects, usually choosing one over the other. Song Chengguang never intended to find a woman exactly like his mother to marry, but at least, he wanted an independent woman.

"How many tis have you been in a relationship?" Hao Xingxing wasn't upset by Song Chengguang's response. After many years without seeing each other, a man who she might have nearly forgotten from her mories, it would be more frightening if he claid love at first sight after only eting for a few hours. His straightforwardness about why he would agree to be together made it much easier for her to accept.

As a leftover woman, her biggest headache currently was settling her lifeti issue. Had it not been for her own opinions, she might have been forced into an arranged marriage already. Thus, if it really ca down to that, she thought it might be better to develop sothing with Song Chengguang in front of her.

At least, this man satisfied her in every aspect so far, and she had never forgotten him. He lived happily, unaware of his cherished mories of his attentive and beautiful mother, which had always lingered in her mind as sothing beautiful and admired.

She thought, if she could rge into such a family, maybe it wouldn't be so bad.

"I haven't," Song Chengguang shook his head.

"How is that possible?" Hao Xingxing was astonished by his answer, staring at Song Chengguang as if she had misheard. Facing such a man in his thirties, tall and handso, with a decent family background, it made no sense to her that he said he had never been in a relationship!

"Have you really never been in a relationship before?" Hao Xingxing pressed, her tone serious.

"Really, I haven't t the right one, and I'm not willing to settle," Song Chengguang felt that whether it was love or marriage, one must rather go without than accept diocrity. This was the basic responsibility to oneself. Just like a mont ago, his agreent was well-considered; he thought she was decent, so he was willing to give it a try, especially since he wasn't getting any younger.

"I've been in two relationships, both ended peacefully. Can you accept that?" Hao Xingxing nodded upon hearing his words, then candidly shared her romantic history.

Although they say that past romantic histories should be treated with leniency, and that candidness leads to doom, Hao Xingxing thought since they were here with the purpose of marriage, she didn't want to hide anything. If it was acceptable, then let it be known from the start to avoid unnecessary complications in the future.

"Okay! But I work quite a lot, and won't have much ti to spend with you. Can you accept that? There may be tis when you need , and I might not be there, which may leave you feeling lost and helpless," Song Chengguang also shared his specific circumstances; he didn't want future assignnts or his lack of availability to cause her sadness leading to disagreents between them.

"No worries, my job isn't easy either, and I'm not so fragile as to get upset over little things," Hao Xingxing expressed her acceptance nonchalantly. She wasn't the kind of demure girl who needed a man all the ti; she was the woman who would unblock her own toilet or change a broken lightbulb herself. Frankly speaking, whether married or not, she could manage well on her own at this awkward age; finding soone to marry was also like settling an account with herself.

"If you marry , it'll be a military marriage, and you can't get out of it," Song Chengguang continued.

"Hmm, I want a marriage that I can't escape from." Nowadays, many people marry in haste and divorce quickly, treating marriage irresponsibly. What she most wanted was a marriage where they could grow old together.

"Alright!" Song Chengguang nodded in agreent, responding to Hao Xingxing's statent.

Hao Xingxing and Song Chengguang had not talked much, but as intelligent people, sotis a brief conversation sufficed. Therefore, when Hao Yueliang returned from the restroom under the pretext, the atmosphere between the two had already changed. As Hao Yueliang pushed the door in, she distinctly felt it—her sister's usually cold face now sported a hint of a smile.

"Let's eat." Hao Yueliang's puzzled gaze was quite apparent. Hao Xingxing noticed but didn't plan to explain much to her inexpensive younger sister, just a cold glance to exert pressure.

"Oh!" Hao Yueliang nodded obediently and naively, curious but not pursuing further questions. Seeing this, Hao Xingxing was also quite satisfied; this girl was indeed obedient and honest.

Thus, the complex al ended, and Song Chengguang, ever the gentleman, took responsibility and drove the Hao sisters back ho before preparing to return to his military base. Just before stepping out of the car, Song Chengguang said to Hao Xingxing, "I have to return to the base tomorrow and will be on leave in two days."

"Okay, good!" Hao Xingxing acknowledged, waving goodbye to Song Chengguang with an excited Hao Yueliang and returned to her residence.
