Xu Yan had always believed that his life would not end here, having co from another world and started anew.
He had endured countless disdainful looks before getting to where he was today; he wouldn’t claim to be great, but at the very least, whatever he should have done, he had done.
He had finally found his sister after so much difficulty, thinking that after this experience, he could leave with dignity and live a good life with her, enjoying the hard-won second chance at life.
Yet, unexpectedly, he stumbled.
Their arrival had been unusually smooth; they had found the place on the first day and easily entered the city, crafted with otherworldly skill, where everything was stunningly beautiful.
He, his ntor, and teammates were all shocked by everything they found and began their examination.
Luolan, a city others couldn’t find in a lifeti, was miraculously discovered by them, and that alone made them feel incredibly magical and proud, a source of great pride.
But soon everything beca terrifying; people around them began to fall, and the two guides turned out not to be guides at all, but tomb raiders who took things from that place and ran off.
The nightmare began...
One by one, teammates fell, and all they could do was watch helplessly; even Han Feng could only watch helplessly.
They both had the most dicine and had consud a lot. Coupled with the floral water spray his sister had given him, insisting that he must carry it with him, the two of them were unhard.
That creature larger than a car had been chasing them for a long ti and was still persistently after them. What made them even more desperate were the many small creatures; even after spraying everyone with the dicine, they were still cornered here, and the teammates who were bitten had turned into blocks of ice.
It was then that Han Feng began to doubt his identity. He thought there was no future, no admittance, but nor did he deny it.
For his only friend, he still harbored so genuine affection but was equally cautious because Han Feng wasn’t as simple as he appeared.
For Han Feng to make himself appear as a fool and go to the Bai Family Village was not to be underestimated; indeed, Han Feng had never been a fool. It was all for investigating the Bai Family Village.
Only by appearing as a fool could he avoid suspicion and roam the countryside freely; his sacrifice was indeed significant.
But he had not expected to et his sister and be touched by her.
Xu Yan never considered Han Feng rely clever; he knew many things that Han Feng had done he would not tell him.
As for what exactly he did, Xu Yan didn’t investigate because he couldn’t; Han Feng was highly vigilant.
Now they were all going to die.
But then he heard his sister’s voice, perhaps just a dream.
At the sa ti, he was relieved that it was only a dream.
Otherwise, if his sister ca to such a terrifying place, how would he protect her?
"Brother, are you inside? How many of you are there, and how many are still alive?"
Bai Zhi’s voice reached Xu Yan’s ears again.
In disbelief, Xu Yan touched the door they were barricading against; it was their last barrier, and they had spread all the dicine powder throughout the room.
"Sister, co in quick, hurry..."
Xu Yan’s faint voice seeped through the crack in the door.
Xu Yan couldn’t pull the door open alone and urgently pushed Han Feng next to him.
Xu Yan consud the last dicine prepared by Bai Zhi; it was rged with her blood, and there was only one.
Bai Zhi had beco the Guardian, and her blood could neutralize many poisons and served as protection, but she couldn’t tell Xu Yan, only that there was just one pill, and he must take it in a life-threatening situation.
He had taken it, and his sister was very clear that he couldn’t let anyone know, so Xu Yan didn’t give it to Han Feng.
Sure enough, after taking it, even though he hadn’t eaten anything for two days, he still felt a bit of strength.
Han Feng and a few others had also woken up, and they hurriedly used all their strength to help with the door.
The mont Bai Zhi saw them, her eyes turned incredibly sore, for Xu Yan, who had always refused to allow his image to be dirty and disheveled, now looked terribly unkempt.
His face was a ss, his hair in disarray, and his clothes ripped to shreds.
"Sister, as soon as it gets light, those bugs will co. You all need to leave quickly..."
Bai Zhi glanced outside; dawn was about to break.
She imdiately turned around and urged everyone to quickly co inside, and she took out her own box from which she retrieved various dicine powders.
"Moh Li, co help, and all of you, get inside right now, but before that, you must spray yourselves with this dicine."
Bai Zhi quickly sprayed them with the dicine. The tour guide was sowhat reluctant, feeling that after so many years in the desert, he knew it well and that nothing could harm him during the day.
Bai Zhi directly instructed Captain Han to drag him inside. Captain Han quickly found the wounded people.
"Bai Zhi, soone’s injured. Doctor Moh Li, co quickly and help."
"Don’t move; I will be there imdiately—don’t you touch them. After they were bitten, did you spray them with the dicine?"
Bai Zhi imdiately intervened, looking toward Xu Yan.
Now was not the ti to worry about being suspected; she had to call Xu Yan "brother" no matter what.
"Yes, I sprayed it. Co quickly and look at Han Feng; he’s also been bitten."
Han Feng was bitten during the day while trying to find a way out.
Now, he looked particularly bad.
"Just wait for a mont more; I’ll be there. If I don’t sort this out, I’m afraid we won’t make it."
Bai Zhi, carrying her dicine powders, quickly spread them around the periter of the house, then made another cut on herself. Moh Li glared at her, wanting to stop her.
"You don’t always want us all to die here together, do you?"
Bai Zhi looked at Moh Li in front of her. For the ti being, the poisonous creature simply couldn’t find the chanism, and the day was cooling off.
In the distance, the dawn had already begun to break, casting a beautiful light amid the sands.
But behind such beauty lay a terrifying day.
"Use mine..." Moh Li bit down, suggesting that his blood could be used. The two of them were connected now.
"It won’t work; it has to be mine, my blood still carries the essence of the Dragon Vein. Only my blood can restrain that poisonous creature, even if just for a while. As long as we can control it, we can search at night."
Bai Zhi also used her blood to prepare pills and then covered her wound with gauze, letting her sleeve hide it.
She then returned and started to perform acupuncture on Han Feng, among several others, including this trip’s leader, Professor Zhang Lin.
The professor was of a very advanced age, yet he still strove in the front lines of archaeology.
Five of them had been bitten, the rest were simply exhausted.
Bai Zhi took out a pot and began to brew dicine again, this ti adding instant noodles to it.
The two boxes she carried contained dicines, but her bag was filled with different kinds of food and water—a whole barrel of it. Only then did Captain Han and the others realize that Bai Zhi was carrying much heavier loads than theirs, and water... was too important...
At the sll of the aroma, many began to wake up...
