Bai Da did not co in, staying outside with three children, saying he was afraid they would be scared if they saw, Ye Xiu did not think too much of it, but Bai Zhi just smiled faintly.
So when the doctor opened the wound, and Ye Xiu saw the ferocious gash, still sared with blood, she gasped in shock.
Tears spilled out before she could prepare herself.
She walked over, gripped Bai Zhi’s hand, eyes brimming with tears, yet she kept staring unblinkingly at the wound, her voice trembled as she spoke.
“Xingxing, don’t be afraid, Mommy is here.”
Mommy… is here…
But how much must it hurt?
Such a long cut, stitched with seven or eight stitches; the doctor’s movents were swift, leaving her terrified. She dared not move, afraid of disturbing him.
When Bai Zhi slightly furrowed her brow, as if in great pain, Ye Xiu could no longer hold back and spoke up.
“Doctor, could you please be a little gentler? Please!”
The doctor did not stop but efficiently disinfected, changed dressings, and bandaged in one smooth sequence.
Once everything was finished, he then looked at Ye Xiu and Bai Dan.
“You are family mbers, right? She has so inflammation and needs to either take oral dication or have an IV. You choose which one; an IV would work faster, but it’s more expensive. If you opt for dication, it will be slower. Oh, and has she had her tetanus shot? That’s mandatory!”
Bai Zhi really did not know; she had been bandaged up by the ti she regained consciousness, so she was clueless.
“We did, the sa day it happened. Doctor Zhou said we should see how she recovers before deciding on an IV. Let’s go with the IV; we’ll go pay now. Doctor, we’re not afraid to spend money, give her the best dicine.”
Bai Dan imdiately spoke up, not afraid to spend the money. As long as Xingxing could get better, that was all that mattered, and he didn’t need to consult anyone else – he could afford it.
“Dad, I’ll go pay, I have the money. Xingxing is my daughter; it’s only right that we bear the costs.”
Ye Xiu was stunned, and after recovering, imdiately argued over who should pay.
Only Bai Zhi felt a mix of emotions; the IV ntioned was the infusion that people commonly spoke of, obviously for anti-inflammatory purposes, but she was terrified of needles.
Why didn’t anyone ask for her opinion?
In the end, Bai Dan did not win over Ye Xiu. He thought about it and realized that as Xingxing’s parents, it was their duty to pay for their daughter’s dical fees.
So he didn’t stop her, and the two accompanied Bai Zhi to undergo the skin test.
But Bai Zhi, who had been following along obediently until then, suddenly stopped at the door and refused to go in.
Her hand was shaking…
That needle was just too long.
The skin test was painful, and then the dicine had to be pushed in through it. Could she run?
As Bai Zhi contemplated the possibility, preparing to make a run for it –

Seeing Bai Zhi’s grip on the door tighten, Ye Xiu felt sowhat helpless. Xingxing had been so well-behaved on the way there, even during the dressing change, she hadn’t cried. What was happening now?
“Xingxing, what’s wrong? Are you scared?”
Bai Zhi still didn’t speak; she was just terrified of needles, a deep-rooted fear that her entire being seed to reject with a vehent dread.
But she was not soone who feared pain,
“That needle, it’s just too long.”
After a long while, Bai Zhi finally uttered a sentence.
Ye Xiu turned her head to look. It wasn’t very long, was it?
The child must be afraid of injections.
Ye Xiu looked at Bai Zhi tenderly and began to coax her softly.
“It’s okay. It’s just like being bitten by an ant. Will you trust Mommy?”
Ye Xiu’s words seed to touch Bai Zhi for a mont, and Bai Zhi followed her.
At that mont, Ye Xiu’s heart was lightly brushed by a feather, tickling…
Xingxing still relied on her a lot. Otherwise, why would she be so obedient?

Bai Zhi closed her eyes and turned her head away to avoid watching the doctor’s actions.
At the mont the liquid dicine was pushed in, all her fears peaked.
It hurt, incredibly so, from head to toe, every cell was screaming in pain,
Bai Zhi bit her lower lip tightly, so hard that blood started to flow.
The nurse saw this and began to tremble. She was just an intern, what should she do in this situation?
“I, I, I’ll go get the doctor!”
The nurse ran off quickly, Bai Zhi’s face turned deathly pale, looking as if she had been fished out of water.
Ye Xiu was scared witless, completely bewildered, not knowing what to do next. It was Bai Dan who imdiately held Bai Zhi down.
“Xingxing, what’s happening to you? Open your eyes and look at Grandpa!”
Bai Zhi struggled to open her eyes. The pain was still ongoing, but it wasn’t as bad as before. It seed that the pain peaked as the dication went in, and then slowly, it wasn’t as painful.
It was only because she lacked strength now that she seed to be in a state of collapse.
“Grandpa, I’m fine. I was just scared, too nervous.”
Bai Zhi pursed her lips, bringing the blood back into her mouth, tasting the saltiness…
Bai Dan didn’t believe that Bai Zhi was just nervous. He hurried to find the doctor, but before he could even leave, the doctor ca in, also taken aback by Bai Zhi’s condition and imdiately checked on her.

The doctor looked at Bai Zhi’s small face. Though pale, there were no signs of allergy. Even the skin test site didn’t reveal anything, which was really strange.
“No, I’m just scared of injections, so I got particularly nervous. I scared grandpa and the others, but I’m fine, doctor.”
Bai Zhi was even certain that after that experience, even if she had another injection, nothing would happen. It was rely a stress response of her body.
Because of extre resistance and fear, her body had a stress response, including that intense pain!
Still, it was strange. Why was the original owner so afraid of injections? Was there sothing she didn’t know, or had overlooked?
