Chapter 2: Enhanced – dicine Buddha Sutra!
People in Japan were quite superstitious.
Perhaps due to deliberate brainwashing by the upper echelons, the people here would rather believe in ghosts and spirits than dismiss their existence.
Lu Jin wasn’t much of a believer before. But ever since the old man got drunk, got hit by a car, and died—leaving him to inherit this temple—he started to believe a little.
In the Dragon Kingdom, if you pretended to be a charlatan and tried to convince people to make ‘body offerings’, you’d probably get beaten to a pulp by so woman’s husband.
Out of ten people, you’d be lucky if even one foolish woman fell for it.
But in Japan, he had already unlocked the achievent of bedding over a hundred won using this thod.
As long as he put on a solemn expression, spoke in a mysterious tone, and spouted a few deceptive words, those sowhat attractive married won were more than happy to let him ‘enlighten’ them with Buddhist teachings.
And afterward, they would even make generous donations to the temple.
Compared to chastity, the people here were far more concerned about whether they were haunted by evil spirits.
Considering the culture of this country, it wasn’t all that hard to understand.
After all, this was a nation with little regard for moral principles.
“Sinful!”
Sitting cross-legged on a ditation cushion, Lu Jin picked up the wooden fish mallet beside him and began rhythmically tapping the wooden fish.
Young n are full of desire.
Breaking the precepts for personal indulgence—completely normal.
But the thing he liked most about Buddhism was that no matter what sins were committed, there was always a chance for redemption.
Even if one laid down the butcher’s knife, they could imdiately beco a Buddha.
So, offering one’s body was nothing out of the ordinary.
As long as one sincerely repented and recited Buddhist scriptures, their sins would vanish.
Break the precepts, repent, and then break them again…
As for when he would truly attain enlightennt—who knew?
He would continue reciting his scriptures, and whenever enlightennt struck, that would be Buddha’s decision.
[Ding! Reinforcent System Activated!]
The ethereal sound of the wooden fish abruptly stopped. Lu Jin, who had been sincerely repenting, opened his eyes in confusion.
A system?
I have been transmigrated for nearly twenty years, and this damn system is only activating now?
Twenty years!
How many twenty years does a person have in a lifeti?
Damn system, do you even know what I’ve been through these past twenty years?
After a brief mont of excitent, Lu Jin quickly cald down.
After all, he had been studying Buddhism for over a decade—his ntal state was at least a bit higher than the average person’s.
Carefully studying the system, Lu Jin realized that its functions were even simpler and more direct than he had imagined.
First, it could enhance the effects of any object.
Second, he had three enhancent opportunities per day.
What effects an item gained after enhancent all depended on luck.
“Enhance an object?”
Lu Jin’s gaze fell on the Buddhist scripture in front of him.
He decided to test the system’s abilities.
Enhance!
As soon as the thought arose, the Buddhist scripture in front of him instantly beca aged and worn, as if it had endured the passage of countless years.
At the sa ti, a vast and sacred aura emanated from the book.
[The dicine Buddha Sutra]
[Hand-copied by a highly virtuous monk, containing the ultimate Buddhist truths. Recite it day and night to remain untouched by all evils.]
This was just a cheaply printed book he had bought from a street stall.
It was nothing more than an ordinary printed scripture.
But now, it seed to have turned into an ancient relic.
“Recite it day and night, and no evil shall touch you?”
Lu Jin raised an eyebrow—was it really that powerful?
Flipping through the now-aged pages, lines of handwritten black ink characters ca into view.
“Thus have I heard. At one ti, the Budha was traveling through various lands and arrived at the city of Vaishali, where he resided beneath the Music Tree. Accompanied by a great assembly of eight thousand monks, thirty-six thousand Bodhisattva Mahasattvas, as well as kings, ministers, Brahmins, householders, celestial beings, dragons, yakshas, humans and non-humans—countless beings surrounded him in reverence as he preached the Dharma…”
He had been forced to morize the dicine Buddha Sutra by the old man since childhood.
By now, he knew it by heart.
This handwritten version contained the sa content as the one he rembered.
However, as he read it aloud, a completely different sensation arose.
Lu Jin’s brows furrowed slightly—his once casual expression shifted as he continued reading with newfound patience.
His mind gradually drifted into a trance-like state, as if hovering between dream and wakefulness.
A faint golden light erged, slowly coalescing in his mind into the towering figure of a Buddha.
Hair in tight curls, left hand holding a dicine jar, right hand forming the Abhaya Mudra.
Compassionate yet imposing.
It was the divine image of the dicine Buddha.
After silently finishing a full recitation of the dicine Buddha Sutra, Lu Jin slowly opened his eyes, a trace of astonishnt flickering within them.
He now felt as though a heavy burden had been lifted from his body—an indescribable lightness overtook him.
Moreover, within him, a faint energy stirred, subtly nourishing his body.
“Can reciting scriptures really lead to enlightennt?”
Hiss!
This is getting a little mystical.
Lu Jin hurriedly flipped open the dicine Buddha Sutra and recited it several more tis.
Each ti he finished a recitation, he could feel that warm current within his body grow slightly stronger.
It was only a minuscule amount, as fine as a spider’s silk, but he could undeniably sense this mysterious force gradually strengthening.
However, apart from enhancing his physical well-being, he couldn’t perceive any other significant changes just yet.
The only notable thing was that the Buddha image in his mind was becoming increasingly vivid.
“If one enhancent produced this result, what if I enhance it again…?”
A glint flashed in Lu Jin’s eyes.
Without hesitation, he consud his second enhancent opportunity, determined to make this scripture even more miraculous.
Swish!
A golden radiance erupted.
A faint Buddha figure erged from the scripture.
In the distance, he could almost hear an endless chorus of Buddhist chants echoing through the temple.
Boundless Buddhist intent perated the air, reverberating throughout the sacred space.
