Chapter 92. Special Auction

"Miss Veronica!"

"Is there still sothing you need?"

Andy was feeling indignant. As a prince’s son, to be insulted by a maid—how could he just let it go with a re show of formality? He absolutely couldn’t tolerate that.

"Isn’t your way of handling this a bit too careless?"

"Careless?"

Veronica raised her hand, signaling Erika to stop, and then turned around.

"Your Highness Andy, then what exactly do you expect to do?"

"What I an is—"

"Do you want to torture this little maid in front of everyone?"

Before Andy could even finish speaking, Veronica directly laid out his true intentions. "Please understand—I am not so noble person. I am a representative of the Holy Church. While I respect your Clappen Family, I will not harm anyone over sothing as trivial as verbal disrespect."

"Sothing trivial like verbal disrespect"...

Hearing that, Andy still couldn’t accept it. As royalty, being insulted wasn’t a small matter!

But before he could speak again, Veronica continued: "In my eyes, all beings are equal. Don’t try to impose your sycophantic rules on —thank you.

I’ve already made Little Jasmine admit her mistake. Let this matter end here."

Veronica’s attitude was firm. She had clearly stated her stance.

And now that she had said this, Andy had no grounds to stop her anymore.

After all, people of the Holy Church... not even the royal family could afford to offend them.

Pushing Veronica away from the scene, Erika even turned her head on purpose to shoot Andy a glare, her eyes carrying a hint of smugness.

As if to say, What? That was it? You thought you could ss with ?

Watching this made Andy grit his teeth in fury.

Feeling triumphant, Erika didn’t linger. As she pushed Veronica, she asked, "Sister Sunflower, the gift’s been delivered. Shouldn’t we be heading back?"

Erika didn’t want to stay even one second longer, even if there was a lot of delicious food here…

"Wait until the banquet ends," Veronica answered coldly.

"Oh."

Erika agreed verbally, but her face was full of suffering.

"Now, push to the main seating area."

Pointing toward a position, Veronica’s voice turned stern. "Then, Little Jasmine, you are to stay by my side quietly and behave. Do you understand?"

"Yeah, yeah."

Muttering, Erika brought her back and then stood there with a bitter expression, her petite fra planted in place, not moving an inch.

There were a lot of people at the banquet. Erika didn’t recognize a single one of them, and many of them ca over to greet Veronica.

Erika was like a mute little tool, dressed in a maid outfit, serving and pouring wine for Veronica, feeling completely out of place.

What puzzled her, however, was that after so many people had co to greet them, the main figure of the birthday celebration—Prince Cortefort—had yet to appear.

Eventually, Veronica explained.

It turned out that Prince Cortefort was still at the palace. The one hosting the guests at this residence was his wife.

This made Erika feel like that man was way too full of himself.

After a long while, Erika grew bored. She had been standing in front of Veronica the whole ti, and her legs were starting to go numb—but the banquet still hadn’t ended.

She felt incredibly uncomfortable, so she secretly bent her knees a little and scratched at her white stockings.

But even this small movent earned her a scolding from Veronica.

"Little Jasmine, mind your manners."

"Ah... yes."

You’re even micromanaging this?!

Puffing up her cheeks, Erika once again stood straight, legs together, waist upright, hands clasped in front of her stomach, properly by Veronica’s side—though internally, she was full of complaints.

Oh my god, when is this torturous banquet going to end...

Just as she was silently complaining, a magnetic voice suddenly rang out from the stage.

"Thank you, friends, for supporting this banquet. Thank you for setting aside your busy affairs to grace the Clappen Family with your enthusiasm.

However, due to certain reasons, my husband Cortefort Clappen is unable to be present. For this, I sincerely apologize to you all."

Speaking was Prince Cortefort’s wife, Lady Mavis. She gave a small, polite bow to the audience.

The nobles below all nodded amicably, showing no signs of displeasure or disruption.

Then, Mavis continued, "At this point, the banquet has co to its final stage. To express our gratitude, the Clappen Family has specially arranged a unique auction tonight. We hope everyone will understand."

"Wow!"

The mont the words "unique auction" were spoken, the previously calm nobles suddenly grew animated.

Because everyone knew the kind of items that were sold at Clappen Family auctions—so their faces lit up with excitent.

Afterward, a servant began distributing number cards to the honored guests.

When it ca to Veronica, she simply waved her hand and declined.

Erika could tell Veronica also wanted to leave as soon as possible, but perhaps due to etiquette, she had to stay until the banquet fully concluded.

Seeing the changes in expression among those around her, Erika grew curious. What kind of auction is this to make everyone so excited?

But in the very next second, the expression on her small face turned unpleasant.

A young woman in a plain white garnt was led onto the stage. She had tea-colored hair, a gloomy expression, hollow eyes, and a completely emotionless face—like an empty shell stripped of all emotion.

And the reason it was said she was being led…Was because she had a tal collar around her neck, like a pet, tightly fastened.

As Erika’s face trembled slightly, she faintly overheard a conversation between two nearby nobles.

"Lord Owen, long ti no see."

The speaker was a middle-aged noblewoman, holding a number card that had just been distributed. She was slightly plump, exuding an air of wealth.

The nobleman beside her responded politely.

"Isn’t this Lady Catherine? Are you running low on servants again?"

"Yes, I bought one last ti, but he died in less than ten days. So I ca to Prince Cortefort’s banquet hoping to get a stronger man this ti."

The other nodded. "I’m planning to buy a few young girls this ti, sothing nice to look at around the house."

"Hah, Lord Owen, you really do like young girls. If I recall, don’t you already have five or six at ho?"

"You flatter . You can never have too many servants, hahaha..."

Erika heard their entire conversation clearly. She looked back at the woman on the stage with the tal collar and instantly understood what kind of banquet this really was.

And these "servants" the nobles talked about—that was just a front. What kind of servant wore a tal collar like that?

There was no doubt—This auction was a slave auction!
