Hikari looked at the general's frustrated expression. It was clear that they didn't like the way Kurayami was speaking about them. The elf contemplated the quickest way to show what she was. Having Kurayami transform into a dragon would be a good one, but the girl would take off the whole roof. And it would not prove that Hikari herself is a goddess. No, the only way to do that was bringing her domain into this room.
The elf smiled and summoned her staff. She channeled the magic of her Hope into the place, until everything fell away, except for the table and chairs. Gone was the building around them. Instead, the all stood in a great white expanse. In all directions was the endless void of white light. In such a place, there was no up or down, yet the table remained grounded. The people remained planted.
General Quarter looked around in disbelief. The others also fell silent, not daring to speak or move. They struggled to grasp the infinite nature of this place. Had it not been for Hikari's magic enveloping them, their ntal and physical faculties would have broken from the unfiltered Hope surrounding them in all directions. They would have scattered into tiny particles, becoming nothing more than [Seeds of Hope].
Hikari grinned at the dumbfounded faces. At Kurayami's reluctance, Hikari removed the dragon from her lap and stood up. The elf floated her staff off to the side and spread her arms out wide. "Do you understand? I am far beyond your comprehension. You should not trifle with matters that do not concern you, mortal."
The general nodded slowly. "You're...You're God? But you're different from the…"
Hikari shook her head. "My existence has nothing to do with the god you worship, but I am a goddess. You can consider as soone beyond the constrains of your understanding of reality."
I'm beyond my own understanding of reality, too. Hikari didn't bother to point that thought out aloud. If she showed so weakness before their governnt, there was no chance that they wouldn't take advantage of it. Any lapses in judgnt would be annoying to deal with later.
"I see," General Quarter said with a bow, "then what is it you want from us?"
"I don't really want anything from you. It was you who brought here, was it not?" The elf let the question linger in the Hope around them, but she quickly rembered sothing. "Rather, there is sothing I do want."
The general nodded enthusiastically. "What is it, Goddess? We will do anything within our power!"
Hikari blinked at the way he changed his tune. Before they had presud themselves as the ones holding the cards, and now the general was more than eager to bend to whatever whim she had. Though, her next words made the whole room freeze.
"I want passports and flight tickets to Japan. As well as that, we need a bunch of money. I have gold coins in my possession, and I'm willing to trade them with you. Also, I would like you all to make an assurance that Maxine will not be bothered while she is here, and she will have an easy ti getting her own passport to Japan."
General Quarter slamd his hands on the table as he shot up in disbelief. "Is that really all? Why? A goddess of your power should be able to…"
His words grew quiet as he saw the vicious glare that Kurayami bore into him. "Stop making presumptions, mortal. Master...Hikari already said what she wants, and if I were you, I'd respect her wishes."
The general let out a long breath and struggled to stay calm. He focused on his breathing, and eventually, he was able to chill out. "I will make sure that all of your needs are fulfilled. I just...I don't understand why we're needed for any of these things. All departnts will be notified, and we will prepare for your passports. In the anti, would you be willing to go to the oval office?"
Hikari shook her head. "I will not. I can already picture how that will go, and the thought gives a headache. I would not prioritize this nation, nor will I appear before the press."
She clutched her staff tightly in her hands. With another wave of it, they were back in reality. All of the mbers not related to her group sighed in relief. The general sat down and slumped in his seat. The defeat in his face was plainly visible.
He chuckled. "I would have preferred aliens over this. At least aliens could have been sothing we'd understand."
The elf laughed. "Sohow, I highly doubt that, but in essence, you can consider us aliens. We all co from a different world, after all."
General Quarter sighed. "Nothing would surprise anymore. You could say that you ca from a video ga, and I wouldn't even doubt it. You remind of those elf characters in those gas my son plays."
Hikari smiled wryly and dodged the question. "Now then, I will leave a small amount of gold coins with you, and then you will provide with the money equivalent."
The general started to say sothing, but Hikari put out her palm. "Do not even think of trying to give money for free. I do not wish for such things, and it's a waste of your precious resources. You will provide with the exact amount of money that is equivalent with the value of the gold."
Hikari reached into her inventory and pulled out gold from Alia's world. I should really na that world myself, shouldn't I?
The elf thought it was silly that she'd created an entire world and never nad it. All of the locals had different nas for it in their own language, but there was never an official na given to it by the creator herself. It was only a blank slate where the title of the item should be. Sothing to worry about another ti.
Either way, the reason she used coins from that world instead of [Gensuba] was the differing values of the coins. Hikari didn't want to say it to Alia's face, but she had a much higher regard for the coins of the ga world than those of Amalin.
Hikari produced a sizable pile of those coins all across the table, and the eyes of the Earthlings grew even rounder. It was only the general who just shrugged it off.
It was as if he'd already seen enough and gave up on trying to understand. His words echoed that sentint. "I'm not even surprised anymore. Though, I hesitate to ask if these coins are worth more than regular gold. How can mortals presu the price of god given gold coins?"
Hikari shrugged. "These aren't as valuable as you think. They're not so type of divine coin. They co from a civilization that is far less advanced technologically than yours. Think of it as being similar to the middle ages here. Though...they have so strange advancents in other directions."
"Don't tell ...They have magic?"
The elf nodded, not even trying to hide it. "All of their technology is predicated on having magic power. You can think of it as similar to the laws of physics here, only that they have magic as a fundantal process. Even the way nature adapted is due to magic perating the atmosphere. Technically...your world...Earth is the strange one."
General Quarter looked towards another one of his comrades in a black suit. "You will have to take care of all of the conversions for this gold. Make sure that you and your departnt doesn't short change her. I will handle their protections while they are here." The general glanced back towards Hikari. "It will take so ti for all of the arrangents to be made. In the anti, where will all of you stay. I would request that you stay in a designated hotel, but…"
Hikari cut him off. "This is agreeable. We'll be leaving as soon as everything cos in, but definitely don't slow down the process to keep us here longer. Also, please do not leak anything from this eting outside. If word gets out about what I am, you could be putting lives at risk.
"What do you an?"
"Well, have you seen what people here will do for their religious faith? I've not made any sort of doctrine, and I do not wish to have words put in my mouth. If people start doing such things, I will...nip it in the bud. Is that the right saying?"
The general nodded. "I understand it very clear, and I will make sure that everyone involved will keep a tight seal on this information. I will make it an even higher designation of security clearance than this country has ever seen before. The only thing I need is the President's approval."
Hikari shrugged. "All of those matters are for you to deal with, but the less people that know, the better."
