Chapter 236: Chapter 236: Once a Sea Chapter 236: Chapter 236: Once a Sea Wei Shou’s gaze was as cold as a scorpion’s, and at this mont there was still a hint of doubt in his eyes.

He had clearly confird that Carl and she had both gone underground, so why was she appearing here again, and how did she differentiate his puppet from the real Zong Fang? One should know that his puppets were as lifelike as real people, and he had never failed before.

“Throw away your gun,” Wei Shou commanded, pointing the gun at her.

Qiao Suisui stood up, tossed her gun to the ground, and stared at him with calm eyes, but her mind was rapidly predicting his next move.

As their gazes locked, both of them made their moves at the exact sa second.

Qiao Suisui lunged for the detonator while Wei Shou reached out to subdue her. The two of them engaged in close combat; Wei Shou’s orders were to bring back the Ancient Humans alive, so he dared not really shoot. Qiao Suisui was gambling on this fact, using the last of her ti to prevent him from blowing up the underground laboratory. If she could preserve the laboratory intact and reveal it, everything could change!

Wei Shou pulled out a dagger from his military boots, one hand around her throat and the other aiming straight for her eyeball.

The leader had only said to bring back a living Ancient Human, not an unhard one.

The tip of the knife was almost touching her eyeball when, in a flash, Qiao Suisui grabbed his arm wrapped around her neck and, with a reverse leg hook, clamped his neck between her agile legs.

Even though her spiritual power was overwhelming Wei Shou’s, under such urgent circumstances and in close combat, her strength and combat experience were no match for Wei Shou’s, so she had to be cunning.

Qiao Suisui made her judgent in a matter of seconds, using her body’s flexibility to wrap around him. The force of her legs could suffocate him in just a few seconds. She flipped nimbly onto his shoulder, broke free from his grasp, and with a ‘crack’, she twisted and snapped Wei Shou’s neck with both hands.

The entire process was executed in one smooth motion, swift and decisive.

Wei Shou’s eyes widened in disbelief before he knelt stiffly on the ground. Qiao Suisui landed on her feet, then picked up the dagger from his hand and swiftly sliced through his throat from behind.

Blood splattered everywhere.

Her face too was spattered with blood, yet her eyes didn’t blink.

Qiao Suisui confird that Wei Shou was dead beyond doubt, then placed the detonator into her space, completely preventing the explosion.

“This should do it… Things will change… They must…”

She murmured to herself, waiting for the last minute to arrive to return to the future.

Suddenly, a familiar voice ca from behind her.

“I’ll go out first to check the situation. Wait here for . Be good.”

It was Carl talking to his past self.

Qiao Suisui turned around, her face and body stained with blood, standing next to Wei Shou’s body, holding a dagger. The wind lifted her hair, and her eyes, after traversing ti and hardship, were unusually bright. At this mont, they were full of determination and certainty, yet still moved by hearing his voice.

Underground, Carl had first heard the sound of tal pipes and imdiately sensed sothing was wrong. He cautiously led Qiao Suisui back to the entrance, planning to go out and make further plans. However, a sudden fight broke out outside, so he didn’t dare to act rashly with Suisui. It wasn’t until the fight had ceased that he decided to go out and investigate.

Now, he pushed open the rusted door at the entrance, erging above ground to see a man collapsed in the depression, with no one else around.

Carl walked over and picked up a sniper rifle from the ground.

“M40?”

It was his weapon of choice.

Carl looked at the marks left at the scene, sowhat taken aback.

Ruins Eye.

Qiao Suisui opened her eyes.

Her heartbeat was getting faster and faster.

In her original tiline, if the underground laboratory had not been destroyed, she would have definitely found a way to use the Freedom Organization to expose the Federation’s cruel actions. Public opinion would have certainly caused an uproar by then, and the leader’s position would have beco unstable, leading to their replacent. In that case, Anubis and the Rebel Army would just need to find evidence in the Southern Battlefield to prove their innocence, clear the slander, and Anubis would no longer face danger.

She packed away the Ti Retrospection Device and quickly headed to the Auslan Empire.

This ti she was certain she could save Anubis, she wouldn’t have to log out forcibly, Ruka wouldn’t commit suicide, and Leberli wouldn’t be killed.

When Qiao Suisui flew over Atlantis, and she gazed down at the entire ground, she suddenly beca like a stake nailed in place, stiffened on the spot.

What used to be the bustling Empire was now full of scars.

The once lively streets were now cold and desolate, most of the glass windows in the skyscrapers were shattered, and the fragnts scattered on the ground were covered in dust, reflecting a faint light. The exteriors of buildings were riddled with bullet holes and scorch marks.

Flying Ships were parked haphazardly, so had been completely destroyed, twisted out of shape, with black smoke still rising from the wreckage. So of the roadside trees were uprooted, others had their trunks snapped at the halfway point, and branches and leaves were scattered about as if ravaged by a storm.

The air was filled with the scent of gunpowder and dust.

Qiao Suisui walked on the land of Atlantis, looking around bewildered and helpless at everything.

There were few pedestrians around, and occasionally, a few people could be seen hurrying by, their faces etched with horror and exhaustion. So were searching through the rubble, perhaps looking for lost family mbers, or maybe for so useful supplies.

In the distance, the sky remained overcast, clouded with dark clouds, as if the entire city was shrouded in gloom.

“Why… Did I fail…”

Qiao Suisui quickened her pace and entered the Imperial Court; there were no guards at the entrance, and she strode toward the palace.

But as soon as she turned the corner of the corridor, she bumped straight into a little boy.

“Mommy!”

A red-haired little boy was knocked to the ground, angry and about to explode, but once he saw Qiao Suisui clearly, he embraced her and suddenly burst into tears.

“Bellini said you wouldn’t wake up, but I knew he was lying to . Mommy, Mommy, you’re back, I missed you so much…”

Qiao Suisui was sowhat bewildered.

She crouched down to look the little boy in the eye, and upon seeing his red hair so similar to Carl’s, she felt a rush of surprise in her heart.

“You… your dad is Carl?”

The little boy, rubbing his eyes and tilting his head, didn’t understand why his mom would ask such a question; in a childish voice, he said, “Yeah, and hasn’t Dad always been with Mom? We both hate Dad.”

Qiao Suisui couldn’t understand and was about to ask more when she heard a familiar voice nearby: “Tata.”

She abruptly looked up, stood up quickly, and peered toward the corner.

Black military boots appeared from the corner, followed by a man’s long legs. He was tall, and at the mont was holding a little boy who was sobbing on his broad shoulders, dampening his shirt. But the man showed no sign of annoyance, instead, he was bent over, soothing him with patience and tenderness, his usually cold and sharp features now radiated only gentleness.

Qiao Suisui just watched him, as if everything around them turned into a re backdrop.
