Chapter 177: Chapter 177: Rescue Chapter 177: Chapter 177: Rescue Carl finally chose ten main gowns and twenty formal dresses. His favorite among them was a halter neck design with a backless style and several delicate diamond chains connecting the neckline to the waistline. It also featured diamonds in the sa color sche scattered along the hem of the dress, styled like overlapping fishtail gauze, yet it wasn’t conspicuous when worn.

Other dresses were also designed with a simple bust and a fluffy hem. One was form-fitting. He imagined her in that dress, and his body reacted involuntarily, so he sneakily added it to the collection.

That evening, several n were in a eting when Zong Fang saw the form-fitting dress Carl had chosen and imdiately frowned. He glanced at Carl, who pretended not to see.

On the other end of the video call, Leberli and Ruka indicated that they would arrive at the Freedom Alliance as soon as possible. The n set the date for the ceremony, but no one ntioned that young man.

Auslan.

Ruka, dressed in a military uniform and wearing white gloves, was intently cleaning the firearm in his hands. Leberli stood behind him and asked, “Have you really decided?”

“Yes.”

Leberli continued to persuade, “We tried last ti, and none of our people ca back. The Federation has been alerted. If you go again, they’ll be even more vigilant and won’t let you bring him out. You might even end up trapped yourself.”

“I know,” Ruka calmly replied. He swiftly loaded the gun, aid, confird everything was correct, then tucked the gun into the back of his waist and turned to Leberli, “We have already concealed this from Suisui. We owe her an explanation. Besides, I promised I’d help him once.”

Leberli said nothing, understanding his feelings. He knew Ruka was worried Suisui would bla them for not rescuing Anubis. Though they had located where Anubis might be detained, the security there was exceedingly tight.

“What do you plan to do?” Leberli asked.

Ruka projected an electronic map on the table, pointed at several key locations with his finger, “This is the Federation’s command center. Their defense starts here and gets progressively stricter. Your n will create a diversion to draw their attention.”

He elaborated, “anwhile, my n will split into two groups. One will create chaos, attracting most of the guards’ attention; the other, led by , will enter the prison area.”

After so thought, Leberli said, “The risk is too great. Are you sure it’ll work?”

“We have an inside man.” Ruka said indifferently, pointing to a spot on the map, “He will et here. If I can infiltrate successfully, he can lead to where Anubis is held.”

A hint of surprise flickered in Leberli’s eyes. He didn’t ask who the insider was and eventually nodded in agreent.

Night fell, and the air was filled with tension.

With a loud explosion, flas shot into the sky, and alarm sirens blared throughout the entirety of Federation Central. Federation Guards swiftly moved into action, rushing toward the explosion.

“Get ready,” Leberli whispered through the earpiece.

anwhile, Ruka and his assault team quickly moved past the periter, avoiding the main guard forces. Everything proceeded smoothly according to the plan, almost too smoothly.

Ruka and his n cooperated silently, and with a few signals, one team divided into two, covering for each other.

After several security doors, Ruka finally reached the rendezvous with the insider.

A faceless man was already waiting there. His features seed erased, without eyebrows, a nose bridge, with only eye sockets and nostrils visible, his lips stitched shut, neither human nor ghostly. Dressed in Federation Guard Army attire, he placed his security card in the crack of the safety door, then turned and left.

Ruka cautiously surveyed his surroundings and, confirming that no one was around, swiped his card to open the last door.

This place was a dark, damp water dungeon, with the air filled with the stench of decay and mold. Ruka kept walking deeper and at the end of the darkness, he finally found where Anubis was imprisoned. Through the iron bars, he saw the young boy with an iron chain around his neck, curled up in a corner, half of his body subrged in the cold water, covered in scars and bruises. His gaze was vacant, clearly having been severely tortured.

Sensing soone approaching, the boy’s head lifted defensively, a glimr of light flashing in his eyes, only to be quickly replaced by fear and hostility. He began to struggle wildly, emitting low growls like an enraged beast.

Ruka frowned at this sight.

What had he been through…

Ruka stepped forward quickly to open the prison door, trying to take him away.

But Anubis’s form rapidly expanded, bones making a creaking sound as muscles under the skin beca hard and firm, and fur grew quickly, covering his whole body. In the blink of an eye, he transford into a wolf, his eyes turning blood-red, shimring with a mad light, filled with primal wildness and a desire to kill.

Ruka quickly backed away, knowing that the Anubis before him was almost devoid of any conscious mind and sensibility. He tried to call back the boy’s reason with a calm voice, “Calm down, I am here to take you out of here.”

However, Anubis’s only response was a deep growl. He arched his back, limbs on the ground, muscles taut, like an arrow poised to launch. He suddenly lunged at Ruka, his speed almost too fast to react to.

Ruka quickly dodged to the side, feeling the sharp wolf claws graze his shoulder, bringing a sting of pain. He imdiately drew his gun, aiming at Anubis, but hesitated in the next instant.

If he shot him, Suisui would be upset.

In that mont of hesitation, Anubis attacked again, this ti using his powerful hind legs to thrust off the ground, his whole body smashing towards Ruka like a boulder. Ruka rolled away, evading the fatal blow, but still felt a suffocating impact on his chest.

Ruka quickly scanned his surroundings, looking for anything that could be used. He noticed an iron bar in the corner and rushed over to grab it, facing Anubis who was once again pouncing at him. He used the iron bar to block Anubis’s claws, but the imnse force still pushed him back several steps.

“Anubis, stop!” Ruka called out quietly, trying to awaken the boy’s consciousness.

Anubis’s movents hesitated slightly, the madness in his eyes seeming to weaken a bit, but it quickly beca more ferocious. He roared and lunged again, his sharp teeth aid directly at Ruka’s throat.

The iron bar seed to be a signal, further agitating Anubis, his blood-red eyes becoming more intense, his jaws wide open towards Ruka.

anwhile, Kanbukun.

“Ruka!” Qiao Suisui awoke from her dream, looking out the window where the wind blew the curtains softly against her, feeling the chill of her sweat-soaked back.

Zong Fang heard her startled cry and woke up imdiately, sitting up with her, holding her to comfort her.

“Qiaoqiao, I’m here. It’s okay, it was just a dream.”

Was it a dream?

But that scene felt so real.

“Is Ruka in danger?” Qiao Suisui asked anxiously, gripping Zong Fang’s sleeve, her eyes moist, “He seed to be in a dark, damp place… Zong Fang, when is Ruka coming to find us?”
