Chapter 271 - 203: Across the Spider-Verse (28)

Stephen Vincent Strange, also known as Doctor Strange, jolts awake from a nightmarish vision. The sweat on his brow speaks of the intensity of the dream he just experienced. His room is dimly lit by the early morning light filtering through the curtains, but the darkness of his dream lingers.

The nightmare had felt so real, a vivid vision of chaos and destruction. The universe torn apart, Earth crumbling under the weight of Thanos and his army's tyranny. It was more than a dream; it was a warning.

"Thanos," Doctor Strange murmurs, the na carrying a weight of dread. He sits up in bed, his mind racing. "I have to take a glimpse of the future. I need to know what will happen."

Determined, he crosses his legs and begins to ditate, closing his eyes in an effort to transcend the present. His focus sharpens as he delves into the multiverse, seeking glimpses of possible futures, searching for any sign of hope amidst the chaos he witnessed.

In his ditative state, Doctor Strange peers into the endless branches of ti, possibilities flash before him like a torrent of images. Their universe collapsing, heroes defeated, Thanos reigning supre with his dark vision. In every tiline, no matter what decisions are made, the outco is the sa: Earth reduced to a war-torn wasteland, a nightmarish apocalypse where hope is but a flicker in the darkness.

His concentration is intense, sweat trickling down his forehead as he grapples with the overwhelming despair of the visions. But as the grim possibilities continue to unfold, his heart sinks. There is no salvation in any of the futures he sees—only despair.

After what feels like an eternity, he opens his eyes, panting heavily. The weight of what he has seen is almost too much to bear.

"No!" Doctor Strange exclaims, his voice filled with frustration and despair. "No matter how I look at it, the result is always the sa. Thanos will turn our world into an apocalypse, a wasteland of endless war and death."

The weight of the revelation bears down on him. There's no single path, no simple solution. All roads lead to ruin.

Strange's mind races. There must be sothing—soone—who can change the course of this dark future. Then, a thought flickers in his mind. "Reed Richards," he murmurs, the na of the brilliant mind behind the Fantastic Four. If anyone could help make sense of this cosmic catastrophe, it would be him.

"I need to find Reed and ask about the other locations." Strange says, his tone urgent. He knows that gathering the brightest minds and the strongest heroes is the only hope of altering the inevitable.

Determined and resolute, Doctor Strange sets out on his next mission. The clock is ticking, and the fate of their universe hangs in the balance.

.....

anwhile, at the Baxter Building, the headquarters of the Fantastic Four, Richards Reed, also known as Mister Fantastic, sits in his office alongside his wife, Susan Storm, the Invisible Woman. They both share a tense look. The atmosphere in the room is serious—another day, another crisis.

In the gym area of the building, Johnny Storm, known as the Human Torch, and Ben Grimm, the ever-powerful Thing, engage in a friendly yet competitive basketball match. The sound of dribbling and banter echoes in the background, contrasting with the somber conversation happening upstairs.

Back in the office, Richard nods to Susan, signaling her to update him on the latest situation regarding their nesis, Doctor Doom.

Susan takes a deep breath before speaking. "As of now, we have no concrete leads on his whereabouts." she says, frustration tinging her voice.

Richards rubs his temples in frustration. "Figures. That bastard managed to escape from prison again. If only we had—"

"It's not your fault, babe," Susan interrupts gently, trying to comfort her husband. "Even if you put him in S.H.I.E.L.D. custody, we know Doom would've found a way to escape. He always does."

Richards leans back in his chair, still troubled. "I know, but maybe S.H.I.E.L.D.'s facilities are more secure than ours. Maybe we missed sothing."

Before Susan can respond, a shimring portal suddenly materializes behind her. Both she and Richard snap their heads toward the unexpected arrival, alard and ready to act.

"What is that?" Richards asks, eyes narrowing as he braces himself.

"I don't know, maybe..." Susan begins, her voice trailing off as the portal stabilizes.

From within the swirling vortex, a figure steps forward, cloaked in dark robes with a crimson amulet hanging around his neck—it's Doctor Strange.

"Strange?" Richards blurts out, caught off guard.

Dr. Strange steps fully into the room, his expression grave and urgent. "I need your help." he says without preamble.

Richards stamrs, still processing the abrupt appearance. "Wh-what? What's going on?"

Strange doesn't waste ti. "We're dealing with a situation that could unravel everything. Thanos... he's coming, and the future I've seen—there's no outco where we win. I need your expertise, Reed. We need to find a way to stop him before it's too late."

Then Richards took a deep breath and steps forward, concern etched on his face. "Calm down, Strange. What did you see?"

Dr. Strange takes a deep breath, trying to steady himself. "There's no ti to explain everything in detail. Every tiline, every possible future I've glimpsed, leads to the sa apocalyptic end. Thanos will destroy everything—the universe will crumble, and Earth will be turned into a battlefield. We need to change the course of events before it reaches that point."

Richard's eyes widen, imdiately realizing the magnitude of what Strange is saying "If the situation is that dire, we don't have ti to waste." He begins pacing the room, his brilliant mind already calculating potential strategies.

Dr. Strange shakes his head slightly. "It's not at that critical point yet, Reed. What I saw was only a potential outco—a grim one—but we still have ti. That's why I'm here now. We need to prevent it before it becos inevitable."

Richards pauses, considering Strange's words. "I see now... you ca to

because you knew I'd understand the stakes. And more importantly, because I can help organize a plan that brings together the best minds and strongest heroes who can help us in these predicant. Am I right?"

Strange's expression softens slightly. "As expected of the world's most intelligent man," he says with a hint of admiration. "I knew you'd see the bigger picture. We need more than just strength—we need a plan."

Susan, still standing beside Richards, speaks up. "If it's only a potential future, then there's still hope to change it."

Richards nods thoughtfully.

Then Richards turns to his wife, who gives him a determined nod in return. "Let's get to work," he says firmly. "We'll call in our team and reach out to the other heroes. We need to be ready for anything."

Dr. Strange's eyes glow faintly as he begins to prepare another spell to open a new portal. "I'll be reaching out to others too."

Then Richards looks at Dr. Strange with a serious expression. "Strange, before you go—there's sothing important."

Dr. Strange turns, eting Richard's gaze. "What is it?"

Richard's tone is firm. "You need to head to S.H.I.E.L.D. Find Loe Halloway—the director of S.H.I.E.L.D. He's well-connected and knows heroes we can't reach on our own. He's the key to expanding our network."

Dr. Strange considers it for a mont, then nods. "Understood. I'll make him my first stop. Also I tell you all the details later "

Richards nodded and said "Got it."

As the portal begins to swirl open, Dr. Strange takes a final glance at Richard and Susan. "Thank you," he says, sincerity laced in his voice. "I knew coming to you first was the right call."

Richards nods firmly, his expression focused. "Just rember, Strange, ti is of the essence. We'll be coordinating things from our end while you gather the heroes from S.H.I.E.L.D. And don't underestimate Loe Halloway—he's more resourceful than most give him credit for."

Strange gives a slight smirk. "I'll keep that in mind." he replies before stepping into the portal. With a flash of mystic energy, the portal collapses in on itself, leaving Reed Richards and Susan Storm alone in the room.

As the portal closes behind him, Richards takes a deep breath and turns to Susan. "It's starting, isn't it?" he murmurs, his mind already racing through plans and contingencies.

Richards gives a small smile. "I know, but this feels different. The stakes are higher, and If Strange is right—and he usually is—then we're facing a crisis that could wipe out more than just our world.--"

Before he can finish, the door bursts open, and Johnny Storm and Ben Grimm walk in, both still in gym gear and sweating from their basketball ga.

Johnny raises an eyebrow. "What's going on, big brain? We heard so serious talk about heroes and multiverse stuff. Is it another world-ending threat?"

Ben crosses his arms. "We gotta suit up?"

Richards looks at his teammates—his family—and nods. "Yes. We're going to need every ally we can get. And that ans reaching out to every hero we know and so we don't."

Johnny grins, flas flickering at his fingertips. "Sounds like fun. I'm in."

Ben cracks his knuckles. "You know , I'm always up for a good brawl."

anwhile, in another part of the world, Dr. Strange steps out of his portal onto the helicarrier of S.H.I.E.L.D., ready to et with Director Loe Halloway and set the next part of the plan in motion. The countdown to chaos has begun—but so has the resistance.

...

[anwhile in the Spider Society]

Michael's voice trails off as he surveys the crowd of Spider-People closing in around him, Miles, and Spider-Man Red. The tension in the air is thick enough to cut with a knife. Every Spider-Person there knows what's at stake, but Michael's resolve remains unshaken.

Miguel clenches his fists, his tone turning cold. "You're putting everything at risk. The Spider-Verse, every universe—everything could collapse if you keep going down this path, Michael!"

Miles, standing beside Michael, mutters under his breath, "He called it the Spider-Verse... didn't he say it was a stupid na? 'Arachnohumanoid Polymultiverse'—he's so shaless." Miles' sarcastic remark brings a small smirk to Michael's face, even in this dire situation.

But Michael's focus quickly returns to Miguel. "I already told you, Miguel. I'm not backing down. My stand is clear—I'll bring Miles back to his universe, and he's going to save his father. You can throw all the canon events you want at , but nothing's going to shake my conviction."

Miguel's eyes darken, his patience running thin. "So that's how it is? You're willing to risk everything, defy every rule, just for one person?"

The room is silent, every Spider-Person waiting for the inevitable clash. Gwen, Hobie, Peter B, and even Jessica all feel the weight of what's about to happen.

Michael looks at the surrounding Spider-People and then back at Miguel, determination blazing in his eyes. "Yeah... looks like neither of us has a choice."
