Chapter 15 - 14: Status Update

Tiline: August 26, 1947

Ti: 9 am in the Morning

Four months had gone by since I beca Spider-Man, and the people of New York had gotten used to seeing

around.

As I swung through the busy streets of New York City on this holiday, I couldn't help but notice how cool it was to see old-fashioned stuff mixed with new gadgets. Despite the year being 1947, the world seed to be on the brink of sothing truly revolutionary.

Well, today was a holiday, called a rest day. Well, this world and my world are different, so yeah. Anyway, um, this world also has these cool gadgets that can call a person they called these 'Mcall' ans (Moving call), which is really cool to think about, even if it's 1947. They have this technology—what can I say? Different universes, who knows how many advanced technologies there are in another universe, right? So yeah, this is similar to a smartwatch but a less advanced version. It can only make calls; it doesn't have video call or a cara, only call like a telephone t. But this is better than nothing, after all, you can carry this everywhere. As I swung through the city as Spider-Man, I reminded myself to stay vigilant for any trouble, staying ready for surprises was important to stay ahead.

I landed on top of a building and took a mont to check my surroundings and assess my situation.

When I noticed I was the only one in the building, I instinctively asked for my status. Imdiately, a see-through holographic window popped up, showing

the information I needed.

As I checked my status, I felt proud of the progress I'd made as Spider-Man. My abilities and skills had gotten much better, all thanks to my training and the help of the Spider-Man System.

The system told

that even though I've mastered all the techniques I bought, they can still get better if I learn or create a new moves within them. So, even though my techniques are at the Mastery level, there's still room to improve them.

"You might be wondering why I've only managed to accumulate such a modest amount of points. Well, let

tell you, it's been quite the journey. The system, I swear, has been downright stingy with its rewards, doling out asly point totals like it's no big deal. And then there's the fact that most of the challenges I've faced have been, well, let's just say they haven't exactly been that hard to deal with you know so cannon fodders. Dealing with your run-of-the-mill street thugs, petty thieves, and your everyday criminals doesn't exactly earn you so big points. I an, where are the major villains? The serial killers? and other sick cris. Those are the ones that usually co with the big rewards. But alas, they seem to be on an extended vacation or sothing. And let's not forget that cri doesn't exactly have a nine-to-five schedule. It's not like there's a robbery or a mugging happening on every street corner every single day. So yeah, it's been a bit of a slow grind, to say the least."

As I pondered my current situation, I couldn't help but feel a sense of relief that most of the challenges I faced as Spider-Man were relatively minor. Sure, dealing with street thugs and petty criminals wasn't exactly thrilling, but at least it ant fewer people were getting seriously hurt.

As i look to my status i said "well for now i dont want to use my points."

As I glanced at my status, I decided to refrain from using my points for now, just in case of an ergency. Closing the status window, I was interrupted by a call on my mcall device.

Answering the call, I greeted the caller with a simple "Hello, Mark?"

It was Mark Fletcher, my closest friend among the trio of friends I had—Chris, Emily, and Mark. Mark was my best - best friend afterall we always hang out together

"Hey, Mark! What's up?" I I said, recognizing my buddy's voice on the phone.

"Hey, Michael! Not much. So, there's this new burger joint that just opened up downtown, and I heard the food is amazing. Wanna hang out? My sister wants to go too," Mark suggested, his voice filled with excitent.

"That sounds aweso! I really appreciate it, but I've got so other stuff to take care of. Sorry about that, but I'll make it up to you, I promise," I assured Mark.

Mark responded, "No problem at all, maybe we can plan for another ti, alright?"

"Sure thing, Mark. No worries at all. We can catch up next ti," I replied, grateful for his understanding.

"Okay, Michael, see you later," Mark said, sounding a bit disappointed, knowing our hangout would have to wait.

"Take care, Mark," I said warmly, feeling a bit sorry for saying no to his invite "And please, give my warm regards to your sister. I hope you both have a fantastic ti at the new burger joint."

"Will do, buddy," Mark replied, his voice filled with genuine camaraderie. " Don't work too hard out there. I make sure that we'll definitely plan sothing else soon."

"Sounds like a plan," I said with a smile, appreciating Mark's concern and plan. " Looking forward to it. Take care, Mark."

With a quick goodbye, Mark ended the call, leaving

to resu my activities. Despite missing out on the opportunity to hang out with my friends, because I still had a duty to protect this city.

....

At the Sa ti Mark explain to his sister

"Hey, sis, Michael couldn't make it today," Mark explained to his sister, disappointnt evident in his tone.

[Mary Rose Fletcher, a pretty 14-year-old, sports eye-catching violet-red hair styled in victory rolls. Her outfit, reminiscent of 1947 fashion, includes a polka-dot tea dress with a sweetheart neckline, pulled in at the waist with a broad belt. Completing her full set are white ankle socks and black Mary Jane shoes.]

His sister said, "Well, that's a sha. Guess it's just us two now."

His sister, Maryrose, looked disappointed as she couldn't see Michael, who was just a year older than her.

Mark nodded, trying to hide his disappointnt. "Yeah, but hey, at least we get to try out this new burger joint together, right?"

Maryrose agreed with a nod. "Yeah, you're right. Let's make the most of it!"

...

anwhile

The boss, distinguished by a tattoo "69" on his neck, asked the man, "Do you know why we give everyone the tattoo '69'?"

"Why, boss?" the man asked, his fear evident.

"That mark is more than just a symbol," the boss continued, his voice dripping with authority. "It's our group's emblem, a warning to all. It's also a tool we use against incompetent subordinates and traitors. With just a command, that mark becos a death sentence."

Suddenly, the pleading man's voice was silenced as a bubble ford over his mouth.

"So, you're dead, huh?" the boss sneered, a smirk playing on his lips. "You're nothing but a useless mutt."

"Hmm, Spider-Man, is it?" he mused, his tone darkening. "He's becoming quite the nuisance to our operations. You better brace yourself, Spider-Man."
