It was simply a rumour amongst the commoners of the Grey Plain. But it sounded true. The rumor road the land despite the attempt of the noble to hide it.
The rumor said that a Baron had risen up and betrayed Eldoria. It wasn't just a territory war. It was full on treason.
Lord Galland of the Grey Plain then moved all of his forces from every town of the Grey Plain back to the Grey Ward, his most fortified stronghold and also the best fortress in the North.
Then everyone knew the rumor was true.
They ca in uncountable numbers. It wasn't just one House that attacked the Grey Plain. No one knew how many there were but most of the towns quickly fell while the coward Baron hid in his stronghold.
The Baron of Snowfell arrived at the Grey Ward. Everyone expected it would be a bloody battle. But he didn't attack. He just let his soldiers dine and wine in front of the gate, just a little bit out of reach of arrow and artillery range.
Then it happened. The first case of White Fluid. That's what they called inside the Grey Ward. A disease that no one saw before. It caused everyone to uncontrollably discharge their waste, even if there wasn't anything to release. The fluid they released was as white as milk. And they didn't stop until no water was left in their body.
They died with hollowed eyes and a body as dried as a dead tree.
The disease spread quickly. No one knew where it ca from. The healer determined it ca from the water source three days in. But it was already too late.
Lord Galland had to release his water reserve to save his soldiers. The water decreased quickly. The diarrhea didn't stop. It kept growing and spreading.
People couldn't bear the waste and the sll. It was hell on earth.
anwhile, Lord Satterblade's soldiers still dined and wined outside of the fortress. They looked happy and fine. They set up a sign that told the soldiers inside the fortress.
If you surrender, you shall be spared.
Lord Galland wasn't happy about it. He locked the water reserve away and only allowed his most trusted soldiers to use it.
That was a wrong move from him. Because his subjects had lost faith in their lord.
The first group deserted. Then there's the second, the third. He couldn't do anything.
Lord Galland fell ill himself. He spent all his day in the out house to shit. A disgusting sight for a High Lord that was supposed to be superhuman. He was no different from us. He was no better than a human.
Rumor started to spread. This ti it was a new one. They said that Lord Satterblade of Snowfell wasn't a witch. They said it was propaganda. But Lord Satterblade admitted it out right.
He wasn't a witch. He hated witches. Lord Satterblade made it clear. He was a witch hunter.
More people fell sick. Lord Galland grew weaker and weaker. The healers couldn't figure out a cure. There was no cure for this disease. It was as if the Grey Ward was punished for siding with a witch.
There weren't many witches in the fortress. Aside from Lord Galland. There were only a few others that you could count on your hand.
Lord Satterblade had made it clear. He was only there for the witches.
Commoners hated witches for generations now. They wanted to kill them. They wanted to be them. They always knew that witches were sothing else.
The ten long days inside the Grey Ward was like hell. Lord Satterblade tortured the people inside physically and ntally. He was a ruthless warlord with a strategic mind like no other.
The soldiers inside the fortress cursed when they ntioned him. But a few others admired him secretly. Why? He wasn't the only one that hated witches.
People left every day. Lord Galland was too weak to even care. He tried everything to save himself. Even with magic. It was all futile.
On the tenth day, when the mind of the Grey Ward was broken and the bodies of the soldiers gave up, Lord Satterblade attacked.
It was a massacre. He showed no rcy.
"A friend of a witch is an enemy of humanity," He said while raiding the Grey Ward. No one was spared.
Those who surrendered silently prayed to God. They were relieved that they made the right choice.
Those who didn't beca desperate. They had seen hell. And now they saw the wrath of a monster.
In the middle of day, Lord Satterblade's force stord the castle. They found Lord Galland still shitting on his bed. It was awful and disgusting.
Lord Satterblade didn't even give him the honor of being hung. He was burned inside his room.
The Grey Ward fell without resistance. And with it, the Grey Plain.
On that day forward, the North of Eldoria claid independence from Eldoria. It was a similar situation like Everia.
Eldoria, the kingdom that had an upper hand in attacking its forr nesis, lost all of its advantages. Now they faced enemies from two sides, one foreign and the other within.
The two greatest kingdoms in Ithisium were split into four.
Everia with its Southern territory.
Glacirium with Everia's forr Northern territory.
Eldoria with its Southern territory.
The newest country ford within these civil wars was led by a forr baron of Eldoria. But he wasn't a witch. He claid to be human and a witch hunter with no magic in him.
He promised his people of a way to exceed even witches that they had been scared of all their lives.
The na of this country was much longer than others.
This kingdom was called the Sacred Human Empire of Nivalis.
It had no kings nor queens, instead it had a High Council that decided everything in its kingdom. The highest position in the Council was Lord Watcher.
The current Lord Watcher of Nivalis was no other than Lord Siderius Satterblade of Snowfell.
After Nivalis had claid their independence, Eldoria quickly retreated their forces in Everia, only leaving a handful of armies to put pressure on it.
While the Royal Court and the King of Eldoria were planning on how to get rid of this thorn, Count Rufus of Southpara, the bridge between the North and the South had already attacked Nivalis. A foolish move that cost Eldoria a lot in the long term.
