The fishern set up a camp right at Armad Lake to celebrate the killing of the witch. They were fishing up all kinds of fish under the lake.
Siderius sat down around the campfire as the fishern gathered around him.
"So... Where are you exactly from?"
"We are from the Hallow Lands, my lord?"
Siderius’ brow furrowed slightly as he rembered the na of the count that the Outsider had inford him.
"Isn’t the Hallow Lands also the domain of Baron Hallolass?"
"That’s right, my lord. Baron Hallolass has ruled over the Hallows Lands for more than twenty years. He has a very strong army. They’re called Watchers of the North!" A fisherman said.
"Watcher?" Siderius smirked. Coincidentally, his title was also Lord Watcher in Xander Guild. Although he completely made it up, he couldn’t help but wonder the underlying implications of the nas.
He’s Lord Watcher and Baron Hallolass had the Watchers of the North as his army. It was as though Fate wanted them to have a fight.
The fisherman nodded. He then stood up and pointed at all the fishern all around.
"The truth is. We all ca from the Hallow Lands but the place beca too much to bear so we had to find so place else to settle down. The Armad Lake was the most suitable because it is in the intersection of all the North territories."
A shorter fisherman stood up. "That’s right. Only because it is a neutral land that we ca here. We’re afraid that the other lords will drive us away."
Siderius rubbed his chin. These were lost people without a ho to go back to. They’re capable fishern and they had their usefulness. Maybe he could figure out a way to use them?
"Can you sail?" Siderius said.
"I beg your pardon, my lord?"
"It’s a simple question. Can you sail the sea?"
"Of course we can, my lord. We are all sea fishern, not land fishern. We learn to sail before we learn how to fish."
"I see." Siderius smirked.
Wealth in a way was power. The more coins he gathered, the easier it was to build his own force. At the mont, Santa Roberto and Snowfell had developed most of its capable advantages.
Blacklungs, however, could still be developed further. Siderius had a guild branch there with Teddy as his handler. They couldn’t expand too much because of the lack of wealth.
Siderius didn’t provide them with more funds as it would be a lost cause. Without a way to feed itself, Blacklungs should soon eat its own tail.
But these fishern provided an opportunity.
"I can employ you all. Not as slaves, but as fishern. I need n to sail the sea for and catch fish. Of course, I will be providing the boats and all the other tools. You will be given a place to live, a salary, and protection."
All the fishern breathed heavily.
"My lord... Are you really telling the truth?"
"I’m many things. A liar is not one of them."
"If that’s the case. We will be your rods and nets, my lord!"
All the fishern stood up and bowed.
"Please. We are having a celebration. Let’s continue."
The small celebration was also a test by Siderius to see how capable they were. The fishern were able to catch quite a lot of fish even in the dark of night. They’re capable and very useful.
’I should be able to expand my operations in Blacklungs..." Siderius thought to himself.
They roasted the fish. They dined and sang in the night with the kind lord that had saved them. The fishern swore loyalty to Siderius that night.
In the morning, they finally had a ho and a purpose. The fishern went on their journey to Santa Roberto and delivered a letter for Siderius. The letter should tell George what he needed to arrange for these fishern.
The kind lord bid farewell to the fishern and went on his journey. He still hadn’t found a suitable third Sonara for his mutation.
The first demon almost killed him. The second witch was taken care of. The witch of Starcrow was killed. All three of them didn’t have anything Siderius could use as his third Sonara.
"Maybe I have to visit Kraus."
Kraus had been busy the last few months creating a spy network for Siderius. He was surprisingly capable in recruiting people. Now that he had fulfilled his part, Siderius went and checked on the result.
If the spy network didn’t have any hidden threats, Siderius wouldn’t be stingy and taught Kraus how to beco a witch hunter and gave him the title of Spymaster.
However, Kraus was very cunning. His loyalty needed to be verified.
Siderius went to a small town at the border of Snowfell. The spy network had spread to all the corners of the baronies. The only few towns that didn’t have any spy were the one at the border.
When he arrived, Siderius didn’t wear his mask. Instead, he went in as the Lord of the North.
Kraus welcod him with open arms.
"My lord! You have arrived."
Siderius nodded. "How have you been lately, Kraus?"
"Not bad, my lord. Please allow ."
Kraus took the leash of Red and led him like a loyal servant.
They went inside a small house that Kraus had set up as the safe house for the spies.
Siderius t up with the spies of this town. An old lady. A middle-aged male healer. And a young kid around 16 years old.
He interviewed each of them carefully. Each had a reason to be a spy and each had extre loyalty and admiration to Siderius.
Siderius couldn’t help but be impressed by Kraus. He then dismissed all of them, leaving only Kraus at his side.
"I promise you once. If you give your loyalty, I can give you power, influence, and wealth."
Kraus kneeled down on his knees. "Yes, my lord!"
"You already have your influence by being the head of the spies in Snowfell. But you can beco even more. Lord Spymaster of Snowfell.
That title alone would bring you wealth.
But power. Power is a tricky thing. This kingdom is ruled by witch. To actually have power in Eldoria, you must have power that can match a witch.
So Kraus. Before I examine you. Do you have anything to confess to ?"
"What do you an, my lord?"
"It is in your nature to lie, Kraus. You have been raised on the street and you have an unfortunate upbringing. I won’t be surprised if you have left so hidden doors behind the network of spies you have created."
Kraus put his head on the ground. "Please believe , my lord. I have not and never will betray you."
"Is that so? I will see for myself then."
