"Sure, but we are also in a hurry. Acier, Theo and the rest of house Matilda is at the edge of this dungeon..." Johan said in a low voice, finally revealing what she was actually protecting.

"Don’t worry, ti flows differently here, we have all the ti, and... I know." Selene said calmly, her deanor colder than it had ever been.

"...You know?" Johan completely forgot what they were talking about, her words, her calm tone, kept ringing in his mind.

’She is knowingly letting her family get tortured? Why is she so calm about it?’ He felt deep rage inside his heart.

Yes, he indeed did exactly the sa thing by waiting for a week. So, from a logical standpoint, Selene should never betray Leor, and just wait looking for the best opportunity, but, it was not Johan who did it... it was Selene.

Johan Von Matilda was a disgusting scumbag. Selene was an emotional, kind girl, who acted more on what she believed was right, than to wait and let sothing like this happen.

And she sounded like she didn’t even care. How can soone change so much in just a few days?

"Yes, I knew, I even t them, but unfortunately I was unable to help. But from Marino’s description, I knew you were alive, and ca to save them eventually. Then, we could work together, and escape..." Selene said in the sa tone Johan used to talk before Jas’s transmigration.

"So you saw them go through everything!?" Johan, suppressing emotions, asked in a voice that barely could hold back the fear in his voice.

"...I was hung upside down for days, naked. I was whipped, and burnt all over my body. I was then fed sothing disgusting, and turned into a monster... You knew all of it!?" Olivia bit her lower lip so hard that it began to bleed. She shouted loud enough to catch the attention of the entire city.

Olivia was the only one who treated Selene right from the beginning. She nded her wounds. She took beatings in her place. She supported her emotionally at every chance. She considered Selene a younger sister, who suffered the sa way she did.

Usually, Olivia wouldn’t lose control of her emotions like this, and just repeat her favourite line again, ’Just endure.’ But, due to the influence of God Tree, and her realizations of herself after confessing to Johan, she can’t just endure this ti.

Selene’s pupils trembled slightly as if about to cry, before they turned cold again, "No. I protected everyone to the best of my abilities. I made any guard who wanted to rape the maids, and other female mbers like Acier, and Diana disappear silently. I prevented uncle Theo, and everyone from corruption. They are all alive because of ... I did my best." she said in an uncertain tone.

"But aren’t you marrying Leor... Even after everything he did. You could’ve just run away with the support of Zack, and Maria. I am sure you could’ve avoided the torture too..." Johan said through gritted teeth. Even though he expected Selene to change, but this much?

"I don’t need to explain everything to you. I ended our relationship at the court when I swung that sword on you. And please, you don’t have any right to tell what I could’ve done when you yourself did nothing. I just want your help with house Matilda. We can work together, then it’s over. I will even give up the na Matilda." Selene said it all in one breath, finally losing her original cold tone.

"Are you kidding ? This has everything to do with . How can you still not reject Leor when he did all this. I can’t let you just skip without giving the answer. Choose one side, why are you helping , and house Matilda while you’re trying to marry their biggest enemy?" Johan asked seriously. He is losing too much of his edge due to the God Tree’s holy aura overwhelming him. Otherwise, he was sure this conversation would’ve gone much smoother.

Selene was finally starting to go against Leor. This was an opening to slowly plant more doubt, not play a stupid bla ga of what could’ve been done. Emotions were truly the worst.

"Jas, I don’t think it’s for you to decide who she should marry. I have a daughter, and I would let her choose her partner herself." Marino on the side gently advised Johan.

Johan’s eyes turned cold, "Shut the fuck up. Things are more complicated than what your monkey brain can comprehend." He regretted his words imdiately, but as he couldn’t take them back, he didn’t let the regret show on his face.

Marino’s eyes widened, he now knew Johan was also a royal so this made sense. But, he didn’t want to believe that Johan would really be like other royals.

"...I-I just want to know what really happened to him. He used to be really kind, supportive, and a genuinely good person. I can’t find a person as great as him, no matter where I look.

I always hated you so much, but I don’t... hate you as much as back then now... you two have changed.

Too much for it to be a normal change. Too sudden to be a natural change. As if you two were replaced by soone else." Selene’s heart finally revealed what she really wanted to say from the beginning, mostly because of the emotional, betrayed tones of Olivia, and Johan.

She had chosen to investigate this all on her own, wearing a cold mask while doing it. She wanted to believe that this Johan wasn’t real Johan, and that Leor wasn’t the real one.

But, nothing made sense. Though she could definitely confirm that sothing weird definitely happened to Leor.

Johan’s lips parted. She was the only one who noticed the change, but it was expected as her emotional intelligence was high for her age.

He finally took a deep breath, trying his hardest to suppress the chaotic thoughts, telling him to make fun of Selene’s intellect, "I guess I can’t hide it from you forever... Sure, I will tell you."
