Wuji Underground
Under the maid's guidance, Chen Ling held a thick stack of questionnaires and arrived at the door of Chi Tong's office.
"Please co in." The maid opened the door for him.
Chen Ling adjusted his collar, raised his head, and walked toward Chi Tong's office with an aura of righteousness, like a debater about to step onto the battlefield. Seeing this posture, Chi Tong's eyelids twitched repeatedly, and he already started having a headache.
"Chi Tong." As soon as Chen Ling opened his mouth, it was with the tone of speaking to an old classmate. "I stayed up late last night to organize the current situation of dical care in the Wuji Domain, and summarized about fourteen key points..."
"Stop!"
Chi Tong imdiately called Chen Ling to a stop. "On my side, I have another very important matter to discuss with you. You don't need to speak in such detail... Just, being a bit more refined is fine. We can discuss the details later."
Chen Ling hesitated for a mont, but still nodded:
"Simply put, I believe the distribution of dical resources in the Wuji Domain is extrely uneven right now. It's like this geographically, and also in terms of ti allocation. Under long-term, high-intensity work pressure, even if the residents get sick, they have no ti to see a doctor... For the few hospitals that are open for night clinics, the doctors on the night shift are insufficient in number and lack experience..."
"Alright, I understand." Chi Tong waved his hand.
"The second problem is easy to handle. I'll issue an order today for the various hospitals to adjust their doctors' shift tis. As for the problem of insufficient dical resources, there's nothing we can do either. After all, there are only so many surviving doctors in the domain, we can't magically produce more."
"Then why not open the domain, allowing sick residents to take the train to other domains to see a doctor?"
As soon as this sentence ca out, the entire office fell into dead silence.
Chi Tong stared straight at Chen Ling, his eyes narrowing slightly, unable to tell what expression he had.
"This point is absolutely impossible." Chi Tong's tone brooked no doubt.
Chen Ling sensed the change in atmosphere and didn't continue speaking. When he proposed this idea, he didn't expect the Fire-Stealers to agree either. After all, if the Wuji Domain was completely opened, all the residents of the Wuji Domain would scramble to flee from here, and the other major domains might even seize the opportunity to directly attack Wuji.
He said that sentence exactly to make Chi Tong refuse, so that he could then naturally propose the next request.
"Alright." Chen Ling sighed. "In that case, I want to look through the related docunts from the early days of the domain, or during the Great Cataclysm... During that period of disaster, our dical resources should have been even more scarce. I want to study how we solved these problems back then."
Chen Ling making this request was naturally to find evidence of his own existence.
No matter what, he was one of the first victims after the Red Star descended. He believed the relevant departnts would definitely keep files... It was just that whether the files were destroyed during that turbulent ti, or which base they were currently in, he wasn't certain.
"dical files from the Great Cataclysm period?" Chi Tong raised his eyebrows in astonishnt, seemingly not expecting Chen Ling to make such a request.
"This scope is too large. Where am I supposed to get them for you... Moreover, we only took over the Wuji Domain later. Most of the original things in the Wuji Base were lost during the split and turmoil of the Witchcraft Association. We don't have them here."
Even though Chen Ling didn't hold much hope, hearing this answer still made him sowhat disappointed.
Chi Tong looked at Chen Ling and changed the subject:
"However, I know where they might be..."
"Where?"
"If these files really exist, they are probably in the hands of those remnants of the Witchcraft Association." Chi Tong spoke leisurely. "Now... they are also known as the 'Rat Party'."
...
Wuji Domain, underground.
A burst of soreness ca from all over his body. Fang Liangye let out a muffled groan and slowly opened his eyes.
The first thing to enter his vision was a grating-like skylight. Pattering rainwater flowed along the skylight, falling from the dark overhead into the drainage pipes, making a waterfall-like splashing sound.
"It hurts so much..." Fang Liangye clutched his head, chaotic mories filling his mind.
"Mr. Fang, you're finally awake."
A voice sounded from the side.
Fang Liangye looked back, only to see a young man with black hair and a black robe walking slowly toward him. On the palms of both his hands, mysterious symbol Markings were engraved.
"You are..." Fang Liangye's eyes were full of bewildernt.
"Nice to et you for the first ti. I am Durand, the leader of the Rat Party." Durand spoke calmly. "The Wu Duo who contacted you at the Human Rights Union before is our wizard."
"Rat Party... Human Rights Union..."
Fang Liangye muttered these two nas, feeling very familiar, but unable to rember where he had heard them.
"It's fine if you can't rember. Mr. Ji said your mory was affected by the Path of the Thief and might be sowhat chaotic... But he has already used Incantation Healing to help repair your mind and stabilize your soul. At least your mind won't be in a deranged state."
"Path of the Thief..."
As if rembering sothing, Fang Liangye's expression suddenly turned ugly.
He closely followed up and asked, "Was it you guys who saved from the Silver King?"
"Silver King? No, we don't have that kind of strength yet. We only rescued you from the Detention Center." Durand answered truthfully.
Fang Liangye nodded slightly. He sat back on the bed Soul Out of Body, not knowing what he was thinking.
"In short, Mr. Fang, you should rest well first. This is one of our strongholds and is relatively safe for now." Durand checked the ti. "Wu Duo is still busy outside and will probably be back in over two hours. You two are more familiar with each other, and you can slowly recall your lost mories..."
"...Mm."
Durand turned around and walked into the gloom.
After Durand walked far away, Fang Liangye could no longer sit still. He got up and paced in the dark underground, muttering to himself:
"The Silver King indeed made a move on my mories... However, for them to actually be able to rescue from there, this Rat Party seems to have so strength..."
"Mm... sothing seems a bit wrong... my head hurts..."
Fang Liangye recalled carefully, and then felt as if a fault had appeared in his mory. Dense sweat once again seeped from his forehead.
"Regardless, I must first figure out a way to contact the Dusk Society... I wonder how Zou Wei and the others are doing, and whether they have successfully arrived at the Tianshu Domain?"
"But we just caused a commotion in the Tianshu Domain, so the security there should be very strict... But with Senior Bai Feng around, evading the search shouldn't be difficult."
The sweat on Fang Liangye's forehead beca denser and denser.
As certain mory fragnts flashed across his mind, the corpses that he had personally slain were still fresh in his mory. His face instantly turned pale. He held onto the edge of the bed with both hands, lowered his head, and began to vomit violently.
