Toy Factory
Chen Ling pushed the door and entered. He saw a figure with greying temples sitting on a grand armchair in the center of the room. Holding a cup of hot tea in his hands, his gaze passed through the curling hot steam, looking at the child at the door whom he had doted on since childhood.
"Pu Jianyue pays his respects to Father." Chen Ling vividly mimicked Pu Jianyue's deanor and movents, bowing to Pu the Sixth.
Pu the Sixth carefully sized up Chen Ling. Discovering that after going out for a training excursion, his temperant was indeed much steadier, a satisfied smile surfaced on his face:
"Not bad... I've heard that you completed your training task very well this ti."
"I rely did my best."
Chen Ling answered with feigned modesty.
Chen Ling knew that Pu Jianyue's so-called completion of the task was just spending a large sum of money and using various dirty, underhanded thods behind the scenes to barely finish it. Who knew how many innocent commoners were implicated during this period, only for him to find ways to suppress the news. The real Pu Jianyue simply didn't have that capability.
Right...
The current Pu Jianyue should have already transford into the 'Six of Hearts'.
Chen Ling was actually sowhat curious about what kind of storm such an incompetent 'Six of Hearts' would stir up in the South Sea Domain... Of course, in order to give this 'Six of Hearts' a grand debut and draw attention away from himself, Chen Ling had already prepared a 'great gift' for him.
"You have already Advanced to the Fifth-Tier and have also completed the randomly assigned training task from the family. According to the family rules, it is ti to allocate assets to you."
As if he had prepared long ago, Pu the Sixth took out three Docunt Bags from under the table and had soone place them respectively in front of Chen Ling.
"This ti, I fought for three opportunities for you. Choose one from them."
"The one on the far left is a foreign trade company. Its main business is the trade exchanges between the South Sea Domain and the Spirit Void Domain. The involved categories are mainly vegetables, fresh food, and so daily necessities. It is also the most valuable of the three assets... However, the outside world is currently turbulent, and the foreign trade industry is also unpredictable. You have to judge for yourself whether you want to take it or not."
"The one in the middle is a few office buildings. There isn't much operation needed for this, just collecting rent regularly. Although the profits can't compare to the foreign trade company, the advantage is that it's relatively stable."
"The one on the far right is a toy manufacturing factory. I don't recomnd you take this one."
"Why?" Chen Ling asked in return.
"This toy manufacturing factory was snatched over from a few rival families just two days ago. Although their family businesses can't compare to our Pu Family, they also have the support of several high-tier Divine Path Possessors and politicians. Therefore, they are not resigned to the ownership of the toy factory. As far as I know, they are still secretly preparing to take back this factory..."
"Right now, almost all the workers in this factory have been dismissed. Only a pile of worthless machines and a brand remain. Coupled with the fact that they send people to cause trouble every few days, I'm afraid you wouldn't have a mont of peace even if you recruit people to run the factory."
Without much hesitation, Chen Ling picked up the Docunt Bag on the far right.
"I choose the toy factory."
"Oh?" Pu the Sixth seed sowhat surprised. "Why?"
"An asset that can stably make money is a good asset. Since the other party is so reluctant to let go, it shows that as long as this toy factory is built up, the profits will be even better than the foreign trade company... Since that's the case, what does it matter to take a little risk?"
Pu the Sixth was stunned for a mont. Then, the corners of his mouth curled up slightly, and a hint of praise surfaced in his eyes:
"As expected of my son, having ambition. Very good."
Making money was just an excuse Chen Ling used to deceive Pu the Sixth. The reason he chose the toy factory was because the other two were not suitable for settling the Integration Faction.
The foreign trade company required frequent public appearances, going out to other Domains, and its operations were relatively transparent. Once the Integration Faction people got involved, they would be easily discovered. Renting out office buildings was too simple and simply didn't require recruiting hundreds of people... The only one that could et Chen Ling's needs was the toy factory.
A toy factory required workers, had dormitories, and the environnt was relatively closed off. It was perfectly suited to accommodate the Integration Faction.
Actually, Chen Ling originally wanted to get an uninhabited island or sothing, but with only two days left until the Integration Faction arrived in the South Sea Domain, he no longer had the ti to operate those. The most important thing right now was to first secure the toy factory in his hands.
As for those trouble-making "rivals"...
Chen Ling naturally had his ways to deal with them.
Since Chen Ling had already made a choice, Pu the Sixth very readily handed over the corresponding contracts to him. From now on, this would be his, "Pu Jianyue's," private livelihood. Even the governnt of the South Sea Domain didn't have the qualifications to intervene in its managent.
Holding the docunts, Chen Ling walked straight out of the room. Outside, a pattering light rain had already begun to fall.
"Cousin, Cousin!"
Pu Shu walked over, holding an umbrella.
Seeing the docunts in Chen Ling's hands, he smiled and said, "Did Cousin get your assets? What is it? Can you let this little brother widen his horizons first?"
"A toy factory, it has good potential."
"That's really nice." A strange glimr flashed through Pu Shu's eyes. "If those things hadn't happened back then, I probably could have also..."
Chen Ling glanced at him from the corner of his eye.
"Sigh, never mind. Let's go, Cousin. I've already made all the arrangents to host a welco banquet for you!" Pu Shu waved his big hand.
Since Chen Ling had to play the role of Pu Jianyue well, and had also promised to "help" him deal with Han ng, he naturally wouldn't refuse. After putting the docunts away properly, he followed Pu Shu outward.
As soon as Chen Ling and Pu Shu went out the door, they got into a car and headed straight for the most luxurious clubhouse in the South Sea Domain.
Pu Shu had indeed arranged everything well.
Right after entering the door, a bunch of figures who looked like little brothers raised by Pu Shu shouted "Big Brother" in uniform unison, giving Chen Ling plenty of face. Then, surrounded by the crowd, they entered the room. First, an exaggeratedly large spread of seafood was served, and then the little brothers took turns offering toasts...
In terms of etiquette, Pu Shu handled it quite appropriately, leading a bunch of little brothers to accompany Chen Ling alone to drink. His ears echoed with various praises and exclamations. If the real Pu Jianyue were here, he probably would have been praised to the point of floating up into the sky... It's just a pity that the person sitting here right now was Chen Ling.
On the surface, Chen Ling smiled and played the part of Pu Jianyue, but in his heart, he sneered endlessly. It must be said that the Pu Family truly had a massive family business. Just one Pu Shu coming out had so many people following behind him to flatter him. No wonder the higher-ups of the Domain didn't let their people participate in the Alliance Council; the conflicts of interest involved behind them were simply too many.
"Cousin, this ti I also arranged for a few good goods, all sixteen or seventeen years old. You can take your pick first in a bit!" Pu Shu drunkenly leaned close to Chen Ling's ear and chuckled lightly.
Chen Ling glanced at him and was just about to say sothing when a figure hurriedly pushed open the doors of the banquet hall.
"What are you doing, what are you doing?! Didn't you see I'm entertaining my cousin?!" Pu Shu flew into a rage.
But the next mont, that person's words left almost everyone present frozen in place.
"The Councilors... it's the Councilors! Those two Councilors who ca to the Pu Family today, after going out the door, all died tragically!!"
