Swoosh!
A white light flickered, and Chen Ke reappeared in the eting room.
His dress shoes left several muddy footprints on the polished floor as he stumbled forward a couple of steps before steadying himself.
The conversation in the eting room imdiately quieted down, with everyone turning their gaze to Chen Ke, awaiting his good news.
"Did you complete it?" V imdiately asked, even deliberately turning up the volu of the loudspeaker.
"Where’s your coat?" Lear joked with a smile.
Chen Ke had a hard-to-guess expression, a smile that was not quite a smile and seed a bit puzzled.
"What’s wrong? Co on, spill it!" Li Moyang also stepped forward at this point.
"I... I didn’t kill Wei Tianyang," Chen Ke said.
The light on V’s cara shifted from blue to red, and the fans at his back whirred to life; Chen Ke guessed he was probably about to explode with anger.
"Let finish!" Chen Ke raised both hands.
Everyone else crossed their arms and watched him.
"The docunt said that Wei Tianyang beca one of the dicine People, was injected with the Black dicine from project 091, and after a series of events, he eventually beca Shenwei," explained Chen Ke.
"So what did you do?" V inquired.
"I took out 091 and killed the people from the pharmaceutical company," Chen Ke stated.
"Gods cannot be killed, you couldn’t have possibly killed Him!" Lear said.
"I didn’t kill Him; I just sent Him back," Chen Ke stated.
"Sent back?" Li Moyang was taken aback.
"Those things fell from the sky, and I made Him return to a much earlier point in ti. The preconditions for Wei Tianyang to beco Shenwei have been removed," Chen Ke explained.
The group looked at one another, heavy with skepticism, unsure if this approach would really work.
"Did it work? I don’t feel any different from before," the Sword Cultivator comnted.
Chen Ke was also unsure; he had done what was supposed to be done, which should have led to success.
"That’s wrong. This thod was never going to work from the start," V suddenly interrupted.
His one eye glowed purple as he multitasked, and another one of his bodies was doing sothing aboard the spaceship.
"That’s not possible. I have already destroyed the precondition for Wei Tianyang to beco Shenwei. There’s no reason or possibility for him to destroy the world now," Chen Ke said.
"You’ve also said that the universe balances paradoxes, right?" Lear pointed out.
Chen Ke looked at Lear, his mouth slightly open, but he didn’t know how to respond. He too began to feel uncertain.
"Is it possible that he is inevitable?" the Sword Cultivator spoke up.
"Inevitable? What do you an?" Lear asked.
"There’s only one path to enlightennt, but there are thousands of practitioners... there’s always one who will ascend," the Sword Cultivator explained.
"I don’t like where you’re going with this..." Chen Ke disagreed.
"That’s the most pessimistic scenario, Chen Ke. What if the end of the world is inevitable? The prophecy was also written on the stele... if you kill Wei Tianyang, soone else will take his place. You destroyed the precondition for him to beco a god, but what if he has another path... could it be?" V suggested.
At that mont, heavy footsteps were heard from behind them all.
Wang Ye walked forward, looking down upon Chen Ke.
"I want to know, why didn’t you kill him?" Wang Ye asked.
"I can’t murder a child who is trying to live his life," Chen Ke said.
"He will turn into the nightmare of the whole world," Wang Ye stated.
"The mont I saw him, he wasn’t one yet," Chen Ke said.
"You say we can’t lose our beast nature. But you never had it," Wang Ye declared.
"We can’t betray our true nature," V stated.
Wang Ye looked at Lear and V, then glanced at Chen Ke and the Sword Cultivator, and turned to leave the conference room.
"Is this guy pissed off?" Lear looked at V and Chen Ke and asked.
"He’s always angry." Chen Ke spread his hands.
"He’s from the sa world as Wei Tianyang, yet never actively offers us information. Can we really trust this guy?" V expressed so doubt.
"I’ve seen him fighting alongside others in Fortress City. He’s just been influenced by Black dicine. I think he was probably similar to Wei Tianyang before he took the dicine," Chen Ke sighed.
"Tell us about him, what was Wei Tianyang like when you saw him... How long did you go for? To us, it seed like you went in and ca out imdiately," Li Moyang couldn’t help saying.
"The story isn’t that long... if you want to hear it." Chen Ke said.
...
Pei Guode Hotel.
At night, Yaha was hugging Zhao Ling, curled up asleep on a soft cushion.
Wei Tianyang was lying on his side in bed, resting his head on Baphot’s waist, reading a thick book.
Suddenly, he heard soone calling his na.
"We know where Wei Tianyang is, but we cannot say..."
"We can’t treat Wei Tianyang as a threat anymore, we need to avoid provoking him..."
"The only True God... Wei Tianyang, listen to our prayers..."
"No one knows where Wei Tianyang is! If he doesn’t want to be known, then it’s impossible for others to know."
"...Wei Tianyang..."
"Wei Tianyang..."
It was as if people in every corner of the world were discussing him.
Wei Tianyang thought he was hallucinating. He quickly sat up, but he could still hear those voices.
What’s going on?
He began to discern the content of the voices and realized he couldn’t hear complete sentences unless they ntioned his na; then, the sentence would start with his na and the volu would gradually decrease until it disappeared.
Too chaotic... Many people in the world were ntioning his na; from the snippets of conversation, there were secret religious groups gathering in various places, governnt departnts, military personnel, and people from all over the world.
So held so secret intelligence; others only knew him through dia and news, and still, others were simply spreading false rumors about him.
Those voices were mixed together; Wei Tianyang couldn’t even block them out. Along with the thoughts of others, they sward in his mind.
"Damn it... What’s going on..." he muttered as he got out of bed and paced beside the headboard, looking puzzled and irritable.
He flicked his fingers at the coffee bean jar, the lid popped open, and a handful of coffee beans flew into his hand. He tilted his head back and shoved all the beans in his mouth, crushing them with his serrated teeth.
Brewing coffee had beco a re amusent. Now, when he wanted caffeine, eating the beans directly was much quicker.
"What’s wrong?" Baphot noticed sothing off with Wei Tianyang.
But Wei Tianyang ignored him, just staring blankly out the window.
Is this an ability?
He didn’t recall ever having this power. Could it be from one of the hundreds of abilities he absorbed when he destroyed the Lingxian Sect?
No, this wasn’t an external power; it felt different, more like sothing innate.
"With horns?!" Baphot sent a telepathic ssage while bleating.
Yaha shifted his arm.
Wei Tianyang walked to the window and whooshed out into the air.
He controlled the wind direction, avoiding all air friction, and shot up to the sky at Mach 29, punching a hole through the thick clouds.
When he reached the altitude of satellite orbits, he turned back to overlook the entire Earth.
The voices were still there.
"I can hear... What does this an?" Wei Tianyang mumbled to himself.
