Bullets shattered the glass, the gunfire at the door ceased, and Chen Ke stowed his shield and, hoisting his rifle, ran back down the deep corridor of the first floor.
At that mont, he saw through the walls, four special forces teams launching a simultaneous assault from the front and side doors.
Two flash grenades smashed the window glass and were thrown into the corridor.
Suddenly, a silver helt appeared on Chen Ke’s head.
Boom! Boom!
Stun grenades exploded, emitting powerful shockwaves and sound waves, but Chen Ke’s helt blocked all sounds.
A team of riot police in black uniforms rushed in through the doorway, and Chen Ke was already prepared.
" 1 second"
" 1 second"
" 1 second"
" 1 second"
" 1 second"
" 1 second"
" 1 second"
...
These special cops were too weak, after all, they were just mortals.
Chen Ke pulled the trigger, and blood sprayed from the rifle’s ejection port as the Divine Blood Bullets, like awls, pierced their bulletproof vests, and the group that had just entered were all shot down.
By then, the special police from behind had also invaded the building, and he turned his head to glance back, casually pulling open the door beside him, revealing not the inside of a room, but the second-floor corridor.
He walked in, closed the door behind him, and then heard the sound of a grenade exploding through the floor underneath.
Looking through the walls and floor, Chen Ke saw the third team circling to the south side of the White House, setting up C4 along the wall.
A violent explosion rocked the foundation, and the room on the first floor burst open, several stun grenades thrown in following a series of explosions, as two teams of special police quickly entered, only to find it empty.
Chen Ke, standing on the second floor, fired through the floor. In an instant, that group of special police fell in droves, and the others also raised their heads to shoot at the ceiling, imdiately creating large ragged holes in the eting room floor.
He left the eting room and moved to another room deeper inside, where a clerk who hadn’t escaped was cowering under a desk, trembling.
Chen Ke ignored him; there was no need to kill civilians now.
The table was piled with stacks of paper docunts, which he picked up and glanced at. The text was in the English alphabet, which he could read.
He shook out a few docunts and quickly skimd through them.
"Libitelli nuclear crisis?"
"Research concerning Zhao Ling’s mutation?"
"Considering reappointing Helena Mina as Council Director?"
"About the source of the neutralizer leak?"
...
Chen Ke found nothing valuable; these docunts might be secretive, but to him, they were just aningless issues of an irrelevant world.
He tossed the docunts aside, his blue eyes piercing through floors and walls to observe the movents of the special police.
They didn’t dare attack fiercely and were retreating.
At that mont, Chen Ke grabbed the clerk, asking, "When will those with superpowers arrive?"
The man stamred, too frightened to speak.
Chen Ke set him on a chair, saying, "Take a deep breath."
The clerk did as told.
"Alright, let’s go over this again. The people with superpowers, when are they coming?" Chen Ke asked again.
"Are you referring to... the Superpower Special Departnt?" the clerk cautiously asked.
"Call them whatever you like, the really powerful ones. You must have so contingency plan, right?" Chen Ke said with a smile.
"I... I don’t know. I’m just a consultant... Do you actually hope they co to deal with you?" the clerk said.
"I wish they would send more people," Chen Ke said.
"You’re crazy... do you know that? The United Council is just 5 kiloters from here," the clerk said.
"So what?" Chen Ke said.
"They might call Wei Tianyang over, and then you’ll surely die," the clerk said.
Chen Ke was taken aback.
"The Wei Tianyang you’re talking about... Which Wei Tianyang?" Chen Ke asked nervously.
"Who else could it be... Don’t you watch the news?" the clerk replied.
"Is he that powerful?" Chen Ke asked.
"He’s the world’s strongest mber of the Superpower Special Departnt, capable of defeating a whole country on his own! And you want to provoke him?" the clerk said.
Chen Ke put away his automatic rifle, thought rapidly for a few seconds, then grabbed the clerk’s collar and urgently asked, "Do you have any information about him here?"
"Do you even have ti to look at the files now?" the clerk laughed.
Chen Ke snapped his fingers.
A ti bubble enveloped the entire White House; now, ti inside it no longer moved.
"Find it for ," Chen Ke demanded.
He drew his Glock pistol, pressing it against the clerk’s back, making him search through a stack of outdated files. After an unknown length of ti, he finally pulled out a dozen files.
Chen Ke shot the clerk dead, then sat at the desk to read them.
The files were not very thick, filled with nurous nas of organizations and mbers. Chen Ke focused on the most important parts, his brow furrowing more deeply the more he read.
Wei Tianyang had not yet beco divine, but he was already far beyond Chen Ke’s ability to defeat...
He had stopped a nuclear missile in Libitelli, and wiped out a city in Chicken Snake Country... At 20, he was treated as a distinguished guest by countries around the world, participated in several missions at the United Council, and directly or indirectly killed millions of people...
The most recent battle took place against a living extra-terrestrial object, a half-hour brawl that spread across three continents, a city was affected and gone. Besides that, another thousand people died indirectly.
Chen Ke sighed deeply to the sky; he had thought Wei Tianyang gained his world-destroying power only after becoming divine, but he never imagined that even before that... he was already invincible on Earth.
"Damn, picked the wrong ti," Chen Ke muttered.
He picked up the last docunt and looked at the tistamp; it was from over a decade ago.
2105... Tiantai Pharmaceutical... Project 091...
He read carefully and discovered that this was the origin of Wei Tianyang.
2105... Chicken Snake Country.
"Found it! 15 years old... He was only 15 at that ti," Chen Ke exclaid.
He stored the file in his storage space. Through the wall, he saw the riot police had regrouped and gathered at the room’s door.
No longer apprehensive, he summoned the Black Knight armor and donned it.
Though ti in the White House had stopped flowing, people could still move. This would cause a ti discrepancy inside and outside, and he had hoped to use this thod to save ti, but now, it was no longer necessary.
Chen Ke held his automatic rifle in his left hand and summoned the Fire-igniting Broadsword he had acquired from Fan Hede Royal City in his right hand.
Just then, the door was kicked open, and two hand grenades flew in.
"Grenades!!!" the riot police shouted outside.
Then, with an explosion, shards shattered and the shockwave sent files fluttering everywhere, but protected by the Black Knight armor, Chen Ke was unscathed.
The riot police stord in, but what t them was a Knight from the Middle Ages.
Chen Ke shot down six, then, with a single sword thrust, pierced the last man’s chest; flas from the blade ignited the corpse, emitting a foul burnt sll.
Another woman with a pistol sprang from the doorway; he had no intendedly further killing, stepped forward and kicked her away, then moved into the corridor.
At the staircase, a man shot at him with a pistol and dragged the woman behind the wall.
"So boring..." Chen Ke shook his head.
At that mont, the sound of helicopter blades echoed from outside.
A heavy machine gun tore through the wall and windows, large caliber bullets hit Chen Ke’s armor, forcing him to retreat step by step.
He stowed the rifle, switched his left hand to a shield, and made a gripping motion with his right hand; a blue radiance coalesced in his palm and instantly beca a spear.
Spiritual Crystal Gun!
Chen Ke peered through the ceiling to locate the helicopter, then hurled the lance.
With a swoosh, the crystal gun, like a surface-to-air missile, adjusted its flight path automatically, penetrated the ceiling and windows, curved in the air, and directly hit the helicopter’s tail, severing it.
Chen Ke shook his head; if he had enough lifespan, he could amplify this ability, and with one throw, even sink an aircraft carrier. But now, he only had less than a dozen hours of life left, his strength barely different from when he first started.
"Ti to go... Wasted a star nucleus, hope V won’t hold it against ."
Chen Ke spoke and ran towards the window, smashed through it in a jump, and in mid-air, a flash of white light leaped back to Opportunity City.
