Wei Tianyang waited in the zero-gravity chamber for a mont before Li and Rovt ca over.
"We are about to prepare for the exit. Next, I will tell you so precautions, considering you haven’t undergone professional training, we’ll just cover the most important parts," Rovt said.
Wei Tianyang nodded like a schoolchild.
"We will have two ropes to hold you, one to lock you onto the track, and another connected to us, just like climbing a mountain," Li said.
"Ah, I know, I just need to follow your steps, right?" Wei Tianyang said.
"You should follow below us, we will form an inverted triangle formation, exiting from face ’A’ of the science cabin, then move along the track to face ’B’, that is, above, to replace the malfunctioning sensor," Li said.
"We... ’walk’ to ’above’?" Wei Tianyang said.
"There is no distinction between up and down in space, you will need to adapt once you’re out, and the horizontal level indicator on your spacesuit will display on the HUD, just watch that," Li said with a smile.
At this mont, he suddenly rembered sothing and added, "Your spacesuit had a problem, right? It couldn’t detect brain activity?" Li said.
"Maybe a patch in the helt short-circuited. Isn’t he lively and kicking? Should be no major issue," Rovt said.
Li lowered his head to think, then whispered, "This does not conform to the exit standard."
"Then we have to let him go down," Rovt said.
Wei Tianyang was startled and said, "Go down? No, that’s not possible. I didn’t co up here easily."
"Don’t rush... I don’t think anyone has inspected his helt," Rovt said.
"I hope that wasn’t recorded," Li shook his head.
"I can change helts, they are not going out either," Wei Tianyang said.
"That won’t work, spacesuits are a set, you can’t mix and match," Li said.
"Let’s just do this then, I won’t just suddenly have brain death out there, trust ," Wei Tianyang said, giving a thumbs-up and pointing at his chest.
Li and Rovt looked at each other, then floated with Wei Tianyang to the decompression chamber to change into spacesuits.
After getting ready, the three of them hung safety ropes on themselves, with four orange cables passing through the sides and underarms of the spacesuits, twining around Wei Tianyang’s waist.
Rovt pulled a rope out from Wei Tianyang’s waist, released the yellow iron hook on the head, and attached it to his own waist.
On the HUD of the helt visor, Li sent a set of instructions on using the hook.
The hook uses an electromagnetic lock; it won’t co loose without an electronic switch to unlock it. Wei Tianyang also held a red iron hook attached to a rope, which was to be hooked onto the track outside the cabin.
The pressure inside the cabin began to drop, and the three floated higher. At that mont, the red light turned to green, and Li said, "Ready, this is the exit on face ’A’, I’ll go out first."
Li was the first to float out; he attached the red hook to the track at the cabin door, a shallow groove on the outside wall of the cabin, specifically for assistance with external movent.
Rovt went out second.
On Wei Tianyang’s helt HUD, a formation diagram appeared.
Li was on the left, Rovt on the right, and he had to stay beneath them, in the middle position, perfectly forming an inverted triangle at the base. Unsure whether this was an irony.
The yellow rope on the body slowly extended, Rovt was already about to reach his position, and Wei Tianyang then floated to the cabin door.
He saw the side of the planet before him; he had never looked down on the mother planet of humanity from this angle, the blue and white interwoven colors, in the pitch dark of space, seed so precious and unique.
He looked left and right, the helt’s HUD displayed yellow arrows for guidance, a rail glead brightly in the HUD, signaling where he should hook on.
He didn’t know how to open the hook, but following the HUD’s guidance, he just gently inserted it into the slide and heard a click; the hook automatically opened, gripped the rail, and then closed up.
"Don’t co out standing; adjust your body position and co out lying down," Li said through the channel.
Lie down and co out?
Wei Tianyang didn’t quite understand but did as instructed. He first turned himself sideways inside the cabin; then, like a chubby fish, he slowly flipped over in midair. From another person’s perspective, his posture would have looked utterly ludicrous.
It took him so effort to stabilize himself, lying in midair. Then, holding onto the red rope, he slowly pulled himself out of the cabin.
The magical mont arrived.
As his head slowly erged from the hatch, the sparkling white exterior of the space station, filled with various markings, looked just like a road.
Li and Rovt were already standing about ten ters ahead of him, waiting.
He pressed his hands against both sides of the hatch, and the HUD’s level showed he was actually maintaining an upright position.
However, he felt just that, even though he had co out lying down, now it felt as though he had simply crawled out of a hole.
He floated out slowly, his left foot stepping onto the outer wall, and the soles of his boots strangely had magnetic suction. At an appropriate force, they secured him outside, and the red hook on his suit automatically tightened a bit, the length of the rope was just right to hold him firmly, not too long or too short.
Wei Tianyang stood on the cabin wall, and behind him, the hatch slowly closed; Ilya’s voice ca over the channel, "The hatch is closed, we can see your signal, be careful."
"Understood," said Rovt.
Wei Tianyang looked around, the space station’s solar panels, and two booms extended from underneath the main cabin. The cabin walls underneath his feet curved outward to both sides; if not for Earth’s reflection, he probably wouldn’t have been able to see the space station at his feet.
"Ready? We’re going to move forward, up to the top," Li said at that mont.
He led the yellow rope, and Rovt did the sa. Thus, the rope was taut, making a triangle with Wei Tianyang’s position as the pivot.
He tried to turn his head, and on the HUD, a small window popped up, the cara behind activated, displaying Earth’s image.
So, he led the rope, stepping carefully, moving forward.
The short distance of 20 ters took them five minutes. Rovt and Li adjusted their body positions, a chanical arm moved slowly, sweeping over their heads, delivering the repair parts.
Wei Tianyang watched them begin their work, only then rembering his own purpose.
But the universe was just too vast.
Too vast.
In the darkness, the stars’ light was obscured by Earth’s reflection, and within just a few minutes, the blue planet dimd, the distant horizon radiated the golden light of the slowly erging sun.
A layer of golden light also draped over Wei Tianyang’s body.
The sunlight srized him, his mother’s voice echoed in his ears.
"Beco their sun..."
"Direct sunlight exposure warning."
An exclamation mark symbol appeared on the HUD, the AI’s female voice was warning, and the radiation dose was soaring.
"Yishenmali! Don’t look directly at the sun!" Li’s voice ca through the communicator.
