Spencer looked up, pondering for a mont, then said, "Before I answer you, I need to confirm one thing."
Wei Tianyang spread his hands and asked, "Do you doubt whether I was really sent by Steijie?"
Spencer shook his head and replied, "You are too young. The Sethiyan Federation’s Superpower Special Departnt doesn’t have anyone as young as you."
Wei Tianyang looked back at the corpse on the ground, then turned to Spencer and said, "I am from the United Council, but it was indeed Steijie who told about the mission to extract you."
"That’s the first thing I wanted to confirm," Spencer said. "You say your na is Wei Tianyang, right? I know that na; it’s a top-secret one. I don’t believe he would join the United Council, nor do I believe soone of his rank would undertake this kind of mission."
"You can discuss it with Steijie yourself," Wei Tianyang replied.
He pulled out his phone which had only a few nas in it, selected Steijie’s private number, and the signal connected.
Wei Tianyang handed the phone to Spencer.
"Wei Tianyang?" Steijie’s voice ca from the other end of the phone.
"Steijie? Is it really you?" Spencer was sowhat shocked.
Although they were old friends, Steijie did not recognize Spencer’s voice imdiately and asked, "Who is this? How can you be using this number to contact ?!"
"Old man... It’s Spencer!" he said angrily.
"Spencer?! Wei Tianyang found you? That’s great!" Steijie sounded excited.
"Hold on; the one in front of , from the Superpower Special Departnt, is that really him?" Spencer glanced at Wei Tianyang and asked.
"Yes... it’s him, the last survivor of the 091 project. He is now a special officer of the United Council," Steijie replied.
"I can’t believe, you didn’t think of a way to keep him in our country," Spencer said.
"Let’s talk about that later. I will send a special force to bring you back ho now, with his help, it won’t be difficult," Steijie said.
"Wait... I can’t go back yet." Spencer said.
"What are you talking about?! Right now, there’s no way I can bring you back from Yixu without bending international laws and using special ans," Steijie insisted.
"I am not in Yixu, I’m in Azaha. I need to confirm sothing here, it’s not ti for to return yet," Spencer shook his head.
"You better know what you are doing. The situation in Azaha is even more dire than in Yixu..." Steijie warned.
"In fact, the situation here isn’t quite like what’s rumored outside, and... about that horse..." Spencer looked at Wei Tianyang, seeming sowhat concerned.
"Wei Tianyang is next to you, right? You can discuss this matter with him, his security clearance is far higher than that horse," Steijie said.
"Both Yixu and Azaha are trying to use this horse to break through the superpower blockade. That’s why the Yixu authorities detained , but then the superpower special forces of Azaha captured ," Spencer explained.
"That’s impossible... Azaha doesn’t have the resources and technology to create a superpower special forces unit. Could that religious fanatic who calls himself Rada Gan actually have superpowers?" Steijie asked.
Hearing this, Wei Tianyang touched his earpiece, switching to the conference call mode.
He couldn’t help but interject, "Wait a minute. Rada Gan and the Beauty and the Beast... wasn’t it you who created them?"
"Wei, it’s a bit complicated, I’m not sure either, you just need to keep him safe..." Steijie said.
Before he could finish, Spencer interrupted him, "No, Steijie, I’m not ready to leave yet, no matter how you persuade , you know that."
"Tell about Rada Gan, does his superpowers not co from your Black dicine? You told after you discovered the Heavenly Falling Objects washed up on the shore, the Sethiyan Federation sent you and your team to collaborate with Yixu, moreover, wasn’t the Black dicine already successfully developed?" Wei Tianyang said.
"That Heavenly Falling Object that washed up from the sea was a massive horse-like creature’s corpse, or rather... it should be said half a corpse. I spent a year and indeed developed the Black dicine, and I’ve also managed the aftermath," Spencer explained.
ntioning the aftermath, Wei Tianyang’s eyebrows twitched, he knew well what that implied: the dicine People used for continuous testing and the inverted triangle for sealing were probably all dealt with.
"That Black dicine can grant a person the ability to move quickly. After we developed it, we were sowhat disappointed. Ultimately... this ability isn’t as good as teleporting, it barely qualifies as rudintary in terms of a triangle’s rank," Spencer explained.
"What happened then? Why did Yixu suddenly detain you? And what about Rada Gan? Have you seen him?" Steijie asked.
"After the developnt of Black dicine, Yixu wanted to beco a permanent resident of Lazarus and move my company there..." Spencer responded.
"Do they want you to beco a citizen?" Wei Tianyang asked.
"Not just a citizen, but what the sacred texts describe as ’the chosen ones,’" Spencer replied with a smile.
"How is that accomplished? By taking an oath on the sacred texts?" Wei Tianyang also laughed.
"No, it’s even simpler than that, if they say you are one, then you are one, whether you believe in the sacred texts or not," Spencer said.
"Regardless, both Azaha and Yixu are hardly pleasant places, what exactly are you trying to confirm?" Steijie asked.
"I want to et Rada Gan in person, I want to see what kind of abilities he actually possesses. Based on my observations, Azaha shouldn’t have the capability to withstand Yixu’s offensive, yet the battle has dragged on this long. Don’t you find that odd? Azaha has been internationally sanctioned and lacks the internal resources for mass export. Where is their war funding coming from?" Spencer said.
"Spencer, listen to , let’s ensure your safety first. As for Rada Gan... perhaps Wei Tianyang can help," Steijie said.
"I’m not interested in Rada Gan," Wei Tianyang said.
Rada Gan, fundantally, was just a superpower special force. If Azaha’s half-capables weren’t Spencer’s creation, then it could only an that another unrecognized pharmaceutical company was hiding amidst the war, providing Azaha with Black dicine and neutralizers.
Wei Tianyang was more interested in finding out who was behind this and then killing them all.
"Wei... You make your own decision about Rada Gan, but be sure..." Steijie hadn’t finished speaking when the signal suddenly beca disrupted, turning intermittent, and simultaneously, a piercing noise ca through Wei Tianyang’s earpiece.
He quickly took off his earpiece, only to see the lights in the factory starting to flicker suddenly before the light bulbs burst with a pop, plunging the building into darkness.
"What’s going on?" Spencer asked.
He handed the mobile phone back to Wei Tianyang.
"Given the circumstances, it might be an EMP..." Wei Tianyang said.
The two stepped over bodies on the ground and went outside the factory building, looking up into the sky just as the EMP pulse explosion was tapering off, Wei Tianyang’s scarlet eyes saw the remaining blue electromagnetic pulses undulating in the dark fabric of the Sky Curtain, and after a few seconds, the sky returned to calm.
Spencer didn’t know what had happened; electromagnetic pulses were invisible to the human eye.
"Was it an electronic war launched by the Yixu Defense Army?" Spencer asked.
Wei Tianyang took out his mobile phone, which surprisingly still had two bars of signal, at which point Shepherd called.
"Owl, this is the Nest," Shepherd said.
"Nest, go ahead," Wei Tianyang replied.
"An EMP pulse just burst at your location, soone detonated an EMP bomb high in the sky," Shepherd said.
"EMP damage to electronic devices is physical, so why can my phone still receive calls?" Wei Tianyang was puzzled.
"The explosion was high enough. The target wasn’t you. It’s just that we’ve lost a satellite... We’re setting up a secret frequency with another, slightly farther, satellite. But there’s sothing you need to handle right now," Shepherd explained.
"What is it?" Wei Tianyang asked.
"Shadow’s unmanned reconnaissance drone was affected by the blast and has crashed within Azaha’s territory... We don’t want the authorities to find out we’re involved. We’ll send you the possible crash location coordinates, and you need to destroy the evidence before local militias get there," Shepherd said.
"Received. Owl, ending the call," Wei Tianyang said.
"Nest, ending the call," Shepherd said.
Wei Tianyang pocketed his phone and turned to look at Spencer, who was curiously observing him.
"You’re actually working for the United Council, which I don’t quite understand," Spencer said.
"I have my own reasons," Wei Tianyang said.
"Everyone who shows up on this land has their reasons... I believe Rada Gan does too. I don’t believe he’s the True God, but I’m very curious about him because Azaha isn’t exactly a welcoming refuge. I want to know what he’s after..." Spencer said.
"I do have a guess, based on my brief encounters with Yixu people and my first impressions of them... I believe that the holy war they’ve waged is fundantally a campaign of massacre for territory, just as you said. Without Rada Gan, Azaha couldn’t have held on for so long. So I think Rada Gan must be in pursuit of that thing," Wei Tianyang said.
"That thing...? What are you referring to?" Spencer asked, puzzled.
"Justice," Wei Tianyang said.
