Even if they could avoid the planet being scorched, the issue with the atmosphere would still be unavoidable.
Clearing the battleships was a precaution.
"That’s a bit difficult; it’s not that I can’t do it, but I don’t have much ti right now. I can only clear out one flagship at most."
