The longsword, blazing with a ghostly green fla, cleaved through the air, and the unsuspecting pursuers were thrown into chaos under its strike. It wasn’t just the death of one person that disturbed them—all the more because the fla on the sword exploded on impact.

That eerie green fire was like a festering growth on bone, and once it clung to them, they felt their life force fueling the flas, which grew rapidly in strength.

Having scored a hit, Zheng Yichen paid no heed to the pursuers who were set ablaze; he swung his weapon, and the burning flas lashed out like a whip at the chasers who had not been hit by the explosion.

In less than two seconds, the number of pursuers was halved, all transford into human torches.

The ghostly green fla cast a sinister and otherworldly glow on the surroundings. Zheng Yichen took a deep breath, acknowledging the formidable power of the weapon, although the loss of blood was quite severe. The two-second burst of wide-ranging attack left his entire body numb.

He glanced at the hand that wielded the sword; the palm was beginning to wrinkle, and the Sword of Hell in his grasp seed very lively, as if it had devoured enough life.

He sheathed the sword and touched his pectoral muscle; it didn’t feel as good as before.

Tsk, this was the first ti symptoms of Withering Disease erged since he arrived in this world. Though it was still early-stage, the sensation made him uncomfortable. It ant that his own countdown had started once more.

With disdain, he glanced at the corpses that had been reduced to charred skeletons in a short ti, and Zheng Yichen swiftly left the area. With his current physical state, he could probably use similar attacks two more tis.

After two more uses, unless he could slaughter a sufficiently strong extraordinary creature nearby, he might turn into a wooden figure.

The price of unleashing wide-reaching attacks with the Sword of Hell was indeed steep. It was a pity; if only there had been twice as many of them, he would have obliterated all his pursuers right here.

After that, Zheng Yichen’s journey beca much easier. The missing pursuers did not reappear, allowing him to rest properly and approach the Dusk Cathedral in relatively good condition. He used his thermal vision to survey both sides of the road and couldn’t help but click his tongue—the missing pursuers had set an ambush here in advance.

But clearly, they hadn’t received news of their companions’ annihilation. The ambushers... were no threat at all. Zheng Yichen touched the Sword of Hell he carried and suppressed the urge to indulge just one more ti with that weapon.

Facing the harmless pursuers, Zheng Yichen chose to take a detour instead.

"..."

"He’s spotted us again. Where are our people? Why haven’t they caught up?" The ambushers watched Zheng Yichen leave and fell into silence.

If their people hadn’t caught up, there was only one possibility—the ones left behind to pursue Zheng Yichen were finished. This realization threw them into a panic. After all, their captain was among those left behind. If they had been wiped out, how could the rest stop Zheng Yichen?

They had planned to trap him with a pincer attack, but without the chance now, the cost of silence was sothing they were well aware of. So many had died without taking down Zheng Yichen, and he even had ways to detect them in advance.

How were they to fight now? The plan had gone seriously awry. The distance to the Dusk Cathedral was very short, and Zheng Yichen could reach it rapidly if he charged without care.

And that’s exactly what Zheng Yichen did. After taking a detour, he sprinted towards the Dusk Cathedral at top speed. He had scoped out the place from a high vantage point on his arrival, and he was certain of the right direction.

The distant Dusk Cathedral, though slightly different in style from what he had seen in Hazy City, bore the unmistakable hue of Dusk that confird it was the place he was seeking!

What was there to hesitate about?

Having had ti to rest and in a great physical state, Zheng Yichen went on without stopping. The pursuers behind him rode on horses, watching his figure move away. Zheng Yichen wasn’t as fast as a horse, and he had taken a detour through terrain that was not easy for horseback riding. He could traverse those areas quickly with his hands and feet.

They, on the other hand, had to take a much bigger detour, and had no chance of catching up to the extraordinarily enduring Zheng Yichen anymore.

"Dusk Cathedral, here I co!!" With unrestrainable excitent in his voice, Zheng Yichen arrived at the entrance to the Dusk Cathedral. As for those pursuers? They were just a bunch of losers. He had already killed quite a few; those who remained, if they lingered around here like persistent ghosts, would not expect to live much longer.

Even if they didn’t stay, he would still take action if the opportunity arose. After all, John and Raymond had been his companions for months.

Eager to proceed, Zheng Yichen hurriedly pushed open the door to the Dusk Cathedral. As he took in the interior, a final weight lifted from his heart.

Compared to the Dusk Cathedral in Hazy City, this one was much smaller in scale, with only a few of the world’s dwellers here. Those who ca didn’t seem to be there for prayers; so resembled itinerant traders taking a brief rest.

Then there was the nun here, with her autumn maple hair color and orange-red eyes, such distinct features that made Zheng Yichen approach her without hesitation, "I have many questions!"

"But you cannot ask them now." The nun looked at Zheng Yichen with a calm gaze. He was slightly startled but quickly realized the issue at hand — the Subduing Item he was carrying had beco heavier.

The rapidly increasing weight caused the straps on Zheng Yichen’s back to snap, and the black tal box slamd onto the floor, creating a dent, with the chains on it violently trembling. As they shook, fine cracks appeared on the surface.

Zheng Yichen pulled out a rope from his possession and threw it towards the box, but the mont the rope touched the box, it disintegrated into fine powder. Not daring to touch the box directly now, Zheng Yichen hesitated for a mont, then summoned the black spear in his hand and gave the chain on the box a flick. The black spear wasn’t destroyed, but the weight of the box was beyond his expectations.

What should have been around twenty pounds was now two tons, or perhaps even more — what on earth had he been carrying with him all this way!

"I don’t know anything about this," Zheng Yichen spread his hands to show his innocence. He truly didn’t expect this thing to have such a problem. Had he known, he wouldn’t have rushed in so hastily.

"If you knew what this is, you wouldn’t have been able to co in." The nun looked serenely at the black box on the floor, the first chain on it already snapped, and physical ripples spread out in circles, as intricate cracks appeared on the floor. The people inside Dusk Cathedral also noticed the anomaly here, and so had already fled the scene ahead of others.

"Is this my bad luck?"

"Yes, ordinary people can’t bring this thing here; only soone like you could have." The nun’s expression remained composed, but she stepped back as the area affected by the ripples expanded.

"Why is that?" Zheng Yichen’s mouth twitched slightly, feeling he’d been set up, no, the nun’s words were clearly telling him he’d been played!

"You’re not of this world, so the aura on you can conceal the aura of this thing."

"This thing isn’t going to destroy this place, is it?" Zheng Yichen was thinking of running away. The nun’s composure probably ant the nuns of Dusk Cathedral were all like this, those he t in Hazy City before included.

"It won’t, but this world will beco a source of infection." The nun continued to retreat as she spoke. Once all the chains on the box had snapped and the tightly closed box opened,

a cracked ’glass sphere’ rolled out from the black box, and upon touching the ground, the environnt around it beca like the sphere itself, full of cracks that made Zheng Yichen’s eyes twitch.

This world was considered low-magic, and now with this thing appearing, it had turned into what seed like a shattered void.

"A source of infection sounds like a really bad term."

"That’s just to make it easier for you to understand. Now you’ve got yourself into trouble," the nun said just as the ’glass sphere’ completely shattered along with the surrounding environnt. However, instead of a gaping black hole, the environnt’s cracks released ’fragnts’ that seed like broken glass.

These fragnts evaporated before even hitting the ground.

Then the environnt returned to normal, the black box distorted and twisted, and the floor was covered with dense cracks. If not for these traces, the abnormal phenonon that just occurred would seem like it never happened.

Zheng Yichen had envisioned the entire cathedral being destroyed or so significant disaster occurring, but he had felt sothing different when the ’glass sphere’ shattered — sothing had surged towards him.

That sothing was invisible, felt as if a breeze caused by different air pressures had brushed against him. Then he felt his body becoming more active, akin to the vigor after passing through a phantom event. His perception of special powers also increased.

Zheng Yichen swung his hand through the air next to him, and the breaking of the air sounded imdiately. He felt his power had increased at least twofold, and as the activity continued to escalate, the ’Environntal Adjustnt’ of this world started to change.

"What exactly was that thing??"

"Co with ," the nun gave Zheng Yichen a look that said there was no chance for escape, then walked in a direction. The Dusk Cathedral was now devoid of outsiders; all who had stayed had fled completely.

Zheng Yichen picked up the twisted tal box from the ground and followed her. He had even more questions now, and since the box could contain that kind of ’glass sphere,’ it must have its unique properties.
