Zheng Yichen wanted to deal with the God’s Corpse, and Alphis received information that could help him, but her father, the Main God, did not give her a way to find the God’s Corpse, also indicating he would not provide such a thod.
The existence of a God’s Corpse was inherently dangerous; the thod for finding an exiled God’s Corpse was only known to a few True Gods.
Knowing this thod might not be a good thing. Zheng Yichen’s encounter with the God’s Corpse was definitely not a coincidence, yet determining which being was behind it was difficult. Furthermore, based on Zheng Yichen’s performance, the likelihood of encountering another God’s Corpse was now low.
The thod of a surprise attack was effective the first ti, but continuing to use this strategy would only expose the instigator.
And the Luminous Supre God providing her the thod to find the God’s Corpse would not only endanger her but would also provide other God type entities with leverage over her.
True Gods do not always act reasonably, but when faced with beings of the sa level, so grounds for reasoning were still necessary.
One should know that a God’s Corpse is not sothing a True God close to defeat in a divine war would release; although releasing it could indeed end the divine war, then what? Such a True God would be rejected and targeted by other True Gods.
In the circle of True Gods, not many get to make the rules, therefore, breaking certain universal rules would result in quicker death for those ousted from the circle.
If a God’s Corpse could be released once, there could be a second ti. Saying there won’t be? Who would believe that?
Either never do it, or if it’s done, there will certainly be a second ti. And her father god told her that Zheng Yichen might have so way to alert him when he does it. As for the issue of leverage?
Zheng Yichen’s goal in looking for a God’s Corpse was to eliminate it; leverage was useless against him.
Alphis was pondering how to convey this news to Zheng Yichen when he sought her out first...
The next day, outside Landen City, a secretive air hung about.
"I plan to perform an Evil Spirit summoning."
Alphis, who had been brought here to et with Zheng Yichen, quickly said, "Wait a second, what sort of Evil Spirit summoning are you trying to conduct?"
She knew about this; it was a special summoning ritual researched by summoners. Although it had a high failure rate, it could occasionally create miracles, producing unique Heroic Spirits or Evil Spirits.
Zheng Yichen dragging her outside Landen City for this suggested he intended sothing significant this ti; otherwise, there were places within Landen City where he could have experinted.
"Just a normal Evil Spirit summoning, but I want to add sothing special to it," Zheng Yichen briefly explained his idea.
He had previously used a Great Evil God fragnt in a summoning ritual; ice crystals, ashes silhouettes, all had been produced using such materials for special summoning.
Now, using a God’s Corpse fragnt as summoning material, should he be able to procure an Evil Spirit related to the God’s Corpse?
He no longer sought sothing particularly special; as long as this could serve as bait to help him capture so God’s Corpse fragnts, it would suffice.
He had also considered a Heroic Spirit summoning ritual, but the fragnts in his possession were not like the reverse attribute Evil God fragnts. Using them might result in failure... but not that it couldn’t be tried. Using the fishing rod’s reversal attribute to adjust the Evil Spirit summoning ritual or even the Heroic Spirit summoning could be attempted.
However, considering the limited materials at hand— just two—he decided to play it safe.
"You, you—" Alphis was speechless after learning of Zheng Yichen’s bold plan. Wasn’t this courting death?
No, this wasn’t just courting death—it looked like actively seeking it. If a regular summoner attempted this, they’d most likely be dood.
Her father god was right; Zheng Yichen did have a special thod, and he had already brought it out. Whether it would work could only be determined by an actual attempt.
But then...
"What do you need to do?"
"Just watch. The thing I’m doing is a bit suicidal, so I feel it’s better to have a witness."
Alphis nodded. She used magic from the Luminous Church to send a ssage, and the Luminous Holy Maidens from inside Landen City all ca. A witness was needed, right?
They were all inford; why not co together.
To watch Zheng Yichen’s Evil Spirit ritual.
"A summoner’s summoning ritual, and even performing an Evil Spirit summoning ritual in front of the Luminous Holy Maidens?" Lillian muttered quietly, looking at Zheng Yichen.
The gaze of six Luminous Holy Maidens—unprecedented and rare. Yet the subject of their attention was orchestrating an Evil Spirit summoning ritual, and they had to offer support...
"Actually, a Heroic Spirit summoning ritual could also work, but I’m afraid of failure," he said, driving the fishing rod into the ground and falling into hesitation.
After nearly a minute, Lillian couldn’t help but ask, "And then?"
Zheng Yichen had been standing there a full minute, maintaining the stance of pressing down on the fishing rod stuck into the ground, without any further action.
"I’m hesitating about what to do next..."
"Have you changed your mind?" she thought Zheng Yichen intended to use the Heroic Spirit summoning ritual.
Shaking his head, Zheng Yichen said, "I’m hesitating over what kind of power to use."
"Ah?" Lillian looked at Zheng Yichen sowhat confusedly. Wasn’t it about using whatever power was available? Generally, it would be Magic Power, right?
But seeing the different powers on each of Zheng Yichen’s five extended fingers, she imdiately understood what his dilemma was.
Life Power, Power of Death, power of Hell, Elents power, and that kind of Light System Power mixed with Life Force.
These powers seed difficult to choose from, but at the sa ti, not so difficult. The key to an Evil Spirit summoning ritual was the thod, not the driving power. Even light energy infused with Life Force could drive it, let alone Life Power or Power of Death.
One could say that any power that didn’t conflict with the Evil Spirit summoning ritual could be effective, except for Holy type.
Different powers would affect the outco, so it was natural for Zheng Yichen to be conflicted.
"The God’s Corpse is dead; how about using Power of Death?" Lillian suggested after so thought.
Actually, I’d prefer to use Chaos power, Zheng Yichen mumbled to himself. He hadn’t showcased Chaos power, which was considered a big gun. Although it didn’t provide extra bonuses against enemies, it could ignore many of the enemies’ disgusting or unique protective characteristics, inflicting whatever damage effect it was supposed to have.
But Chaos power was unreasonable. It could snuff out the results of an Evil Spirit summoning ritual right after they were produced.
"I’ve decided. I choose light energy," Zheng Yichen announced his selection. What he really wanted was to summon an Evil Spirit that could find the God’s Corpse.
"Ah?" Lillian raised an eyebrow slightly, feeling like Zheng Yichen was doing this on purpose.
Zheng Yichen revealed his reason: "Light energy is the power I’m most adept at using."
"You an black reversal light, right?"
Lillian glanced at the light patterns on the ground. These lines of light quickly ford an Evil Spirit summoning ritual on the earth. It was actually ’Light of Life’ that was normal, not black reversal light, right?
In her mory, Zheng Yichen rarely used normal light energy in combat; most of the ti, he fought with black reversal light, which he handled as naturally as anything and which matched his combat style.
The Evil Spirit summoning ritual was complete.
The many souls stored within the fishing rod were infused into it, and Zheng Yichen did not forget to toss in so other materials, such as the blood-like liquid extracted from the God Simulation Engine’s energy crystals—a very small amount. Any more, and he feared the summoning ritual wouldn’t digest it well.
After Zheng Yichen’s additions, the magic array formation of the Evil Spirit summoning ritual turned a bloody red, emitting a blinding red light, looking like a furnace that might explode at any mont.
Zheng Yichen impatiently threw a fragnt of the God’s Corpse into it, prompting Lillian, who had already retreated to the center of the Holy Maiden sisters, to roll her eyes. She really wanted to scold Zheng Yichen for such a crude outsider’s approach, but she also wanted to praise him, saying ’Good! Very brave!’.
This guy was really haphazardly throwing everything inside!
And the durability of this Evil Spirit summoning ritual was too excessive, right? Despite Zheng Yichen’s rough treatnt, it didn’t imdiately explode but sturdily maintained its form.
"Having such a versatile magic staff really allows for so rough handling," Lillian murmured to herself. In her eyes, the extendable stick in Zheng Yichen’s hand was nearly the sa as a magic staff, considering it was too thin to be a blunt weapon.
Moreover, once elongated, the latter sections beca thinner and thinner, hence calling it a blunt weapon was more like calling it a rapier.
A few ters long kind... a Knight’s lance? This thing couldn’t hold a candle to a knight’s lance.
That ’magic staff’ kept the summoning ritual from collapsing.
As for the souls Zheng Yichen had thrown inside, as the Luminous Holy Maiden, she could tell they belonged to sinners. Normally, after people die, they can be forgiven, but they must suffer before forgiveness.
After defeating sinners, the Luminous Holy Maiden usually didn’t purify the souls by burning them clean but by washing away their sins, which also counted as purification. Of course, not doing this was also fine since the souls of the dead would return to Hell and be cleansed by the River Styx.
But the process of washing away sins allowed the souls of the guilty to experience the judgnt of their sins. The process wasn’t too long, but it made most sinners feel like years were passing each day, making them wish they were completely dead.
An advantage of doing this was that such souls wouldn’t be intercepted by the Death type True Gods after falling into Hell.
Those entities, upon spotting such souls, would only feel a sense of ill on.
It was a form of ’protection’ for the guilty, preventing them from being intercepted by True Gods after death and continuing to slave away doing bad deeds.
Of course, so souls were burned clean by the purification process due to the depth of their sins, and in such cases, the Luminous Holy Maiden couldn’t do much. Opportunities had been given; if the person couldn’t endure, what else could be done?
Find another guilty soul.
A towering red glow burst from the Evil Spirit summoning ritual Zheng Yichen had triggered. At this mont, the veins on Zheng Yichen’s arm burst forth, and the intact ground under his feet shattered due to the sudden heavy pressure, along with the earth that served as the foundation beneath the summoning ritual...
