Blessings can be malicious, and it’s not unusual, the key is to look at what kind of existence is bestowing them and the role they play.
The blessing of that fire demon beast is self-serving—the creatures it kills are forcibly sacrificed to feed the beast itself...
This reminded Zheng Yichen of a proverb—’to act as a willing accomplice to a tiger.’
"It really is a tiger, huh?" Zheng Yichen looked at the fierce creature that dared to defy the dragons. Klakauska was a fire dragon with wings, nearly thirty ters in length from wingtip to wingtip, and almost twenty ters from head to tail.
It was considered a large beast, and the fire dragon Bourg that Cardanas had encountered before was a bit larger than Klakauska, but the difference wasn’t huge—it was like the difference between a human who is 1.6 ters tall and one who is 1.9 ters tall: it looks significant, but both are within the normal range.
The size of this ’tiger’ wasn’t small either, almost half the size of a fire dragon, qualifying as a behemoth.
"Blast Fla Tiger, a magical beast with trendous destructive power. It’s said that its Blast Fla attack is no weaker than Dragon Breath."
"Hmm? ’It’s said’?" Zheng Yichen spotted important information in Klakauska’s words.
The fire dragon picked its nose and released a small fla, showing its annoyance at the Blast Fla Tiger’s challenge: "This kind of beast has low intelligence but an extrely fiery temper. It dares to challenge dragons, yet I’ve eaten plenty of them. None have withstood my Dragon Breath. They’re spicy and quite delicious."
"Then I think your ’it’s said’ is quite reliable—" Zheng Yichen smiled subtly, his thermal vision allowing him to detect sothing amiss. The accumulation of heat within the agitated Blast Fla Tiger was not inferior to the heat source at Klakauska’s chest.
And from his battle with the dark red fire dragon, he had observed such information— that heat source should be the ’fiery flas sac’ the fire dragon used to spray Dragon Breath.
"What? Impossible, absolutely impossible! A Blast Fla Tiger is just food in the eyes of a dragon, even if it’s blessed by a demigod!" Klakauska said, licking his lips and revealing a ferocious smile, "Now that you ntion it, I haven’t eaten one of those in a long ti."
The Dragon Tribe’s nu was vast and varied, but as intelligent creatures, they naturally preferred to feed on less intelligent beings rather than one with whom they could communicate. Since Blast Fla Tigers had low intelligence and were difficult to communicate with, it was normal for them to be a part of the Dragon Tribe’s diet.
There were also several lizard magical beasts unrelated to dragons but sowhat resembling them that were regulars on the nu; and as for others that seed strange... to the Dragon Tribe, humans or humanoid creatures eating monkeys were also odd!
"Then you can fight it out with it, and I can deliver the final blow."
"Huhu—watch !"
Klakauska charged confidently, but then he realized that what Zheng Yichen had ntioned seed true. The Blast Fla Tiger was slightly stronger than expected; the demigod’s blessing and the lives forcibly sacrificed to it after being killed by the tiger had made this beast very dangerous.
Surrounding it were nurous Blazing Evil Spirits that burned fiercely, sowhat akin to the souls under Zheng Yichen’s soul control manipulation, helping the Blast Fla Tiger absorb a great deal of attack damage.
This, coupled with its fire type, made Klakauska appear very passive in combat.
After having its Dragon Breath dispersed by the Blast Fla Tiger’s swiping Blast Fla Claws, the fire dragon’s eyes nearly bulged out.
"Oh, that cursed demigod’s blessing!" The dragon rubbed its eyes. Its Dragon Breath being dispersed was definitely related to the demigod’s blessing, as the multitude of Blazing Evil Spirits helped the Blast Fla Tiger divide the fire of the Dragon Breath, reducing their number by a fifth with that single blow.
With the strength of the Blast Fla Tiger not inferior to his own, the only reason it hadn’t threatened him was that the beast knew no magic, relying entirely on its innate magic power for attacks. The cautious fire dragon was displaying the combat level expected of its tribe.
Dragons were physically powerful and even more so in magic. In Hazy City, where Zheng Yichen had overpowered them, the magic of the fire dragon was limited due to the low-level environnt of that world.
In the local world, it was different. The periodic fire rings erupting around the Fire Dragon prevented the Blast Fla Tiger from getting close. The Blazing Evil Spirits were blown up by the Fire Dragon’s orbiting teor fireballs. The Blast Fla Tiger tried multiple tis to charge at the Fire Dragon with its explosive speed, but the Fire Dragon took advantage of that, delivering heavy blows to the Blast Fla Tiger.
This was the sense of powerlessness for a warrior facing a mage. Although the Blast Fla Tiger’s attacks were demon-possessed and powerful, they were ineffective. No matter how strong they were, they seed aningless.
If not for the sufficiently powerful Demigod blessing, this Blast Fla Tiger would have already beco food in the Fire Dragon’s mouth.
The outco of this battle was already certain. It wouldn’t be too easy for the Fire Dragon to win, but it definitely wouldn’t lose.
As the number of Blazing Evil Spirits surrounding the Blast Fla Tiger dwindled, the Blast Fla Tiger beca increasingly agitated. So of the Blazing Evil Spirits stopped attacking Fire Dragon Klakauska and instead started approaching Zheng Yichen.
"What the hell..." Zheng Yichen swung his fishing rod as he watched the approaching Blazing Evil Spirits. Before the spirits could exert their influence, they were suppressed into the Soul-Subduing space inherent to the fishing rod. This made the Blast Fla Tiger even more anxious, and in a mont of inattention, it was blasted into the ground by a column of fla released by Klakauska.
The fire magical beasts naturally had strong resistance to fire. However, resistance isn’t immunity. Faced with stronger attacks, fire resistance could only reduce so damage. The continuous attacks had burned so of the Blast Fla Tiger’s fur, even emitting the scent of barbecued at in so places.
"Roar!"
A roar accompanied by an energy burst scattered the column of fla, and the Blast Fla Tiger leaped out of the ground. A shadow erged on its forehead, and Klakauska looked on in surprise; he sensed the presence of a Demigod.
What in the world? This creature’s Demigod blessing also carried the effect of a descent? Couldn’t this Blast Fla Tiger be so Demigod’s illegitimate child?
So thought the Fire Dragon, on high alert as he watched the yet unford phantom.
With a harsh screeching sound, Klakauska was stunned for a mont. Before he could react, he saw the unford phantom forcefully shattered, and the sowhat dazed Blast Fla Tiger was also directly obliterated by that strike.
Its vast body rapidly withered.
"Hey, we agreed I’d handle this alone..." While Klakauska inwardly breathed a sigh of relief, he grumbled outwardly that he was, in fact, a little bit stronger. Just that when the power of the Demigod erged on the Blast Fla Tiger, it might have beco just a tiny bit stronger than him.
"Next ti, then. I don’t want to attract the attention of a Demigod right now. It’s best to deal with it later after we find them," he said.
Fire Dragon Klakauska smacked his lips, "Fine, since it was you who took action, and it’s already late. Shall we find sowhere to eat now?"
Clearly, eating this Blast Fla Tiger was no longer an option. They would go in search of so normal Blast Fla Tigers instead; this type of fiery-flavored magical beast was what he, Klakauska, had set his sights on for today!
As for the Demigod, there wasn’t much to say. If the Demigod truly descended, that could be troubleso, but unfortunately, Zheng Yichen’s move was too fast. The phantom triggering the Demigod’s power hadn’t even fully ford before its vessel of power was thoroughly extinguished by Zheng Yichen’s overwhelming attack.
The Demigod probably didn’t even know who had dealt the strike.
Klakauska did not particularly care about his revealed existence; he already held a grudge against one Demigod and was indifferent to gaining the attention of others.
After collecting the bounty locally, they went together in search of new Blast Fla Tigers. The process of collecting the bounty was easy. The Dragon Tribe Gold Card that Fire Dragon Bourg had given him provided great convenience, as the relevant bounty could be directly transferred into the card, saving Zheng Yichen a lot of effort.
He was not worried about the Dragon Tribe deceiving him. Klakauska declared that the Dragon Tribe wouldn’t dare to cheat in this regard. In a world where strength reigned supre and was made even more evident by magic, powerful beings naturally carried a sort of trustworthiness bonus.
The sort of bonus that maxes out the other party’s trust...
