"Huff... Huff..." Zheng Yichen clutched his forehead. His right eye had returned to normal, but his left remained pitch-black. He had already dispelled the Black Light he had cast on himself and quenched the Flas of Rage that had ignited his fury, but his ntal state couldn’t recover in a short ti.
At this mont, he was like a powder keg, ready to explode at the slightest provocation. He reached for his right ear and felt sothing hanging there, the sa thing that brought him a sense of coolness during his frenzy.
—The white ball he had always used as a car decoration.
"Good job, little thing." Looking at the white ball in his hand, which was like a sticky rice cake, Zheng Yichen squeezed it as if it were a stress toy, then kicked it into his pocket. He reached into the storage compartnt of the motorcycle and took out so blessing artifacts, as well as those ntal-type dicines.
The Amulet’s Blessing Magic could diminish and suppress negative effects, and the ntal-type dicines could forcefully stabilize one’s ntal state.
He poured an entire bottle of potent dicine that stabilized the mind into his mouth. Along with the effects of the Amulet, it made Zheng Yichen feel sowhat better. As the mania subsided a little, he had the mood to ponder over more matters.
First was the Great Evil God that had revived. It had been destroyed, and whether it was completely dead or not wasn’t clear to Zheng Yichen, but he rembered that after the Great Evil God exploded, so tiny particles scattered. Those particles were likely the fragnts used by the Evil Spirits to revive the Great Evil God.
Then there were the 12 Supre Evil Spirits. Zheng Yichen faced imnse pressure from the Great Evil God. If he rembered correctly, by the end, at least two high-rank evil spirits were still alive.
The God of Rebellion... He glanced at the sky, where the God of Rebellion, radiating organized yet not blinding light, was now about the sa size as the revived Great Evil God; both appeared as towering figures. The only difference was that unlike the Great Evil God’s grotesque and bloated form, it still possessed a humanoid shape.
With high aesthetics and no discernible gender, the lack of emotional expressions made it seem like a perfect statue. Standing amidst a city engulfed in flas and battered by destruction, there was no sense of incongruity. At first glance, it seed as if it belonged there.
The ground beneath his feet was loose and overgrown, now a wasteland devoid of life, not even fit for microbes. The rampaging ntal Aberration creatures and Evil Spirits had vanished without a trace. The Great Evil God had absorbed more than half of the Evil Spirits and ntal Aberration creatures within the City of Evil Spirits, and those few that survived probably perished under the light of the God of Rebellion.
The Hellfire, now less than one-tenth of what it had been without an enemy to fight, remained on standby.
In the distance, the faint sounds of cries of survival could be heard emanating from the crumbling city encircled by the Evil Spirits, continuing to collapse. Initially, Zheng Yichen speculated the black ring had sothing to do with the black moon, but it turned out it had nothing to do with it.
His Essence of Life was almost completely drained. His right arm, holding the fishing rod, was covered in a thin layer of blood-soaked flesh, skeletal enough to make a mummy nod in recognition.
His arm was in such a state yet still movable. Slight movents made it seem as though half his body would tear apart, the painful sensation seeping into his bones causing uncontrollable twitching at the corner of his eyes. Wielding the Demonic Abyss Seven Kills for a flat slash was exhilarating, even with the Great Evil God’s high damage reduction, he could chop its arm off like a carrot.
But now he was reaping the sour fruits of his thrill.
Zheng Yichen took a light breath. He could sense that the demonic thoughts filling the City of Evil Spirits were nearly gone; not that they were eliminated by the light emitted by the God of Rebellion, but rather, he had used almost all of them during the battle.
What little remained of those demonic thoughts would dissipate completely before long.
With his good left hand, he rubbed his forehead. His body was painfully sore, and his ntal state was no better. Demonic thoughts could be understood as a corrosive fuel. The fuel might be used up, but it would still leave lasting corrosive marks on the container.
Zheng Yichen’s container could self-repair, but the corrosion was severe this ti, rendering his ntal state extrely unstable. Irritated, disordered, prone to anger, and sensitive... While sorting through his mories, he felt at least ten urges to slash at the God of Rebellion.
If only that thing was more proactive and pulled the Great Evil God out of another spatial dinsion earlier, things wouldn’t have co to this. Settling the Great Evil God sooner could have spared many lives. The distant cries were especially infuriating for him. With the Great Evil God exploded and the Evil Spirits gone, even the Hellfire under his command would not attack the survivors.
If they had the energy to weep, they might as well look for other survivors in need of help!
And there was the floating God of Rebellion with so many hands that it could act as an excavator and rummage through the rubble, yet it just stood there like a statue!?
The resentful gazes of the people mutated by the fluid coming from the black moon also annoyed him. He didn’t even have to deal with the Great Evil God, he helped you kill it, and you repay him with that look of disgust?
All the little things he didn’t mind before now irritated him; discovering even a slight discomfort would send his emotions into overdrive.
```
"BOSS, what you need now is to find a safe place to rest properly," Lilith’s projection appeared and said to Zheng Yichen seriously, "Your current ntal state is very unstable, and too much thinking will only further reduce your ntal stability. You have already done enough for this world; it’s ti for the original inhabitants of this world to solve the remaining issues... You were never a savior."
That was just a self-deprecating claim.
"I don’t worry about what I can’t see, damn it!" Zheng Yichen rubbed his face, letting a stream of water fall from the sky onto his head, splashing onto his right arm, lightly flowing across the thin skin, creating a cold, needle-like sensation that made the corners of his eyes twitch slightly.
He reached out and pulled the water-repellent cat spirit cloak over his right arm: "Let’s take a round."
Zheng Yichen, who still wanted to chop sothing, planned to see if there were any fish that had escaped the net in the city, and the remaining Hellfire also sprang into action with Zheng Yichen’s new orders.
Survivors uneasily watched those huge humanoid fire-breathing monsters, which they had seen fighting Evil Spirits and ntal Aberration creatures during the previous commotion, yet the appearance of such monsters and the eerie green flas they emitted still did not seem like a good on.
What relieved them was that the Hellfire showed no interest in them. As they watched the Hellfire move away, so survivors actually felt less secure; the Hellfire was frightening, but at least it had protected them before.
Other survivors blankly stared at the ruins around them. The change had co too fast; just a mont ago, everything was fine, and in the next instant, the entire city turned into a pandemonium as if the scene had shifted. Friends and family by their side turned into ferocious Evil Spirits.
The once stylish won passing by and the dogs they had admired turned out to be ntal Aberration creatures. The dog’s owner physically ripped their face apart and, in the form of an Evil Spirit, laughed maniacally at the young people attracted to the scene.
In that mont, the fear that erupted in the city was the most intense. Everyone was calling for help, dialing the police, and even actively seeking assistance from nearby police stations and hospitals. However, these places beca fixed hunting grounds.
Many Evil Spirits inside cackled ominously, waiting for panicked prey to walk into their traps. Exorcists fighting the Evil Spirits in this place were overwheld by their sheer numbers and torn to pieces before the eyes of ordinary people. The Evil Spirits splashed the exorcists’ blood and flesh among the crowd, wantonly spreading terror.
The city was already in chaos, but the ergence of the Evil Spirit fountain and the Great Evil God plunged every ordinary person into an unprecedented panic.
Many people went insane on the spot.
And afterwards? Later on, many were still bewildered when they realized they had been saved. The Evil Spirits that filled the city vanished without a trace, as did the towering Great Evil God, replaced by an unknown existence radiating an orderly light.
The ones who hadn’t fallen into madness had a deep impression. They were ordinary people, unable to clearly see from a distance but what stuck with them most was the sight of the Great Evil God’s limbs being continuously severed by black weapons, driving them to despair at the seemingly endless regeneration.
It wasn’t until the Great Evil God was finally annihilated by a staggering strike that they reclaid hope from despair.
"BOSS, there is sothing special 120 ters away," Lilith reported.
"Hmm..." Zheng Yichen nodded absentmindedly, bringing the motorcycle to a stop at the spot marked by Lilith. Unlike his deliberate search, Lilith had already marked the objects to be picked through her projection – it was an irregular fragnt the size of a fingernail.
He picked up the object, which felt warm and smooth to the touch, and it did not cause any substantial erosion: "The ashes of the Great Evil God?"
"It’s sothing that flew out of the disintegrating body of the Great Evil God," the projection screen in front of Lilith played a recorded playback, dense with paraters about the trajectory of the flung debris, which were rapidly decreasing: "One piece of debris is supposed to land in this area."
"This thing is different in nature, let’s go treasure hunting," Zheng Yichen tossed the fragnt into the motorcycle’s storage compartnt. He needed to do sothing interesting to distract himself. If he couldn’t find any potential Boundary Breakers, treasure hunting would suffice.
"Route planning complete, navigation starting now," Lilith’s fingers moved across the projection screen in front of her. She had calculated the trajectories of many fragnts; so had completely flown out of the city to unknown places, and those that hadn’t left the city she could mark the landing points of more than 40% based on their records.
With Lilith’s markings and energy detection, they could pick out any of the fragnts within range.
The fragnts were mostly the size of fingernails, of two types: one was the innocuous warm one he first found, and the other was polluted and potent. The white ball was very interested in the heavily contaminated ones, and Zheng Yichen fed the harmful portion to the white ball as if it were cat food.
