At this point, the Dusk rcenary turned to Zheng Yichen, "What did you do?"
"It seems the Interference Field is still effective," Zheng Yichen said. The motorcycle had been enhanced by the Sky Pillar’s energy and was an entity capable of achieving Unity of Heaven and Man. The City of Evil Spirits was enshrouded in a special kind of delusion, a power that affected every corner of the city. But after the Interference Field interfered with that power, these Dusk rcenaries regained their normal state.
After hearing Zheng Yichen’s words, the Dusk rcenaries looked at the streets again and found that the corpses that had been there were gone, replaced by screaming crowds.
Several Dusk rcenaries fell silent. Their previous responses had been toned down; the reality was even more terrifying than what they had described.
"How do we combat this issue?" the Dusk rcenary asked.
"I’m not sure, but it seems that this influence doesn’t interfere with cognition. Now that you know the truth, maybe you can be prepared?" Zheng Yichen snapped his fingers and let Lilith remove the Interference Field, and the Dusk rcenaries imdiately showed strange expressions.
One of them looked conflicted, "Damn it, now the entire street is hung with corpses again!"
The information they had just seen hadn’t disappeared, but their attempt to resist the influence was useless. What they now saw seed to be the reality, with the sensation of touching corpses in places where no corpses existed.
"Then it’s clear, what you see is exactly what the Evil Spirit wants you to see, including the Evil Spirits you encountered. Okay, leave this matter to ." Zheng Yichen did not arrange tasks for these Dusk rcenaries, as they were unable to free themselves from the influence of the City of Evil Spirits, and could potentially beco a cumberso drag on him.
Rather than thinking about deploying them, he’d be better off being more proactive, exterminating all the Evil Spirits and ntal Aberration creatures in his field of view.
"...We will contact other colleagues to leave this city."
The captain of the Dusk rcenary squad promised imdiately. Now was not the ti to consider their mission; leaving was the wise choice.
As for subsequent actions? They would see what this Proxy Agent in front of them could do. If he could break the city’s delusional influence, they wouldn’t mind going all out before the real apocalypse began.
"Then move fast," Zheng Yichen said.
The departing Dusk rcenary squad didn’t discuss the city’s inhabitants; discussing that was pointless. As for kindly making contact? What a joke, they already knew they were under an illusion; who knew if the residents they touched were Evil Spirits in disguise?
anwhile, at the center of the City of Evil Spirits, an additional Evil Spirit fountain erged, coming into Zheng Yichen’s sight. Huge numbers of Evil Spirits rushed out of cracks, fearing they would be left behind if they were too slow.
The Evil Spirit fountain was visible at the city’s edge, yet the ordinary people within the city were still panic-stricken by Zheng Yichen’s presence, blind to the more terrifying Evil Spirit fountain.
Zheng Yichen snorted. Thermal vision allowed him to mark all nearby Evil Spirits, and Blood Perception revealed so particularly special ones that could sowhat circumvent thermal vision, leaving them with no place to hide.
So Evil Spirits possessed humans, but under Zheng Yichen’s dual perception, this was of no use. His diverse abilities allowed him to move in the City of Evil Spirits as easily as a fish in water.
Once Zheng Yichen started moving again, countless Evil Spirits mocked him from all directions, ridiculing his actions as aningless, laughing at how his existence had brought a great number of sacrifices to the city, accusing him of being a major sinner.
Ignoring these Evil Spirits’ taunts, Zheng Yichen, with an unsightly grin, took out an artifact from the motorcycle, a Curse artifact made by Eileena, using Supre Demon materials, and requiring a considerable amount of the Forest Witch’s energy.
It was a Curse artifact with a broad range of chains. The type of curse was determined by the amount of vocal power Zheng Yichen put into it.
Zheng Yichen’s power hadn’t touched much on curses, but he had special Curse objects at hand. He had borne a large number of curses before; so had been removed, others transferred.
The best Curse object he had was the four Reincarnation Curse bullets he had never used.
Who wanted to live forever? A shot from him and they could live forever, only having to suffer through reincarnation eternally.
Zheng Yichen felt that this Curse object, potentially more useful in certain situations, should not be used here, at least not on these Evil Spirits unworthy of reincarnation.
A silhouette Evil Spirit, as if burned to ashes, appeared behind Zheng Yichen. The Evil Spirit’s crescent moon-like mouth and eyes revealed crimson flas, with sparks scattering from the eyes and mouth.
Zheng Yichen tossed the Curse artifact he held to the silhouette Evil Spirit, "I’ve already marked those Evil Spirits, burn them!"
"Hehehe—" the silhouette Evil Spirit let out a laugh resembling the last gasps of the dead, grasping the bone-carved staff thrown by Zheng Yichen, whose hair wound around it turned dark red like hot iron wire.
The Curse object was activated, and the silhouette Evil Spirit’s power could use the artifact.
The silhouette Evil Spirit, that followed beside Zheng Yichen, laughed eerily without pause. Its black body showed traces of lingering embers. It seed to revel in slaughter, even if it ant attacking local Evil Spirits, who in na, were its kin.
