"This is all I know," the disguised Evil Spirit said with a fawning smile as it looked at Zheng Yichen, who, in its eyes, was hardly considered human, even though he looked almost the sa as a human from all aspects.
But as it drew closer, it could feel the chilling aura of Zheng Yichen’s equipnt, and the black cloak he wore exuded a cursed presence that made it frightened.
Anyone who could harness such a Curse object and casually wear it must not be ordinary, let alone the fact that Zheng Yichen had not been influenced by the City of Evil Spirits.
"Not bad. From now on, you’ll be my reserve," he said.
"Huh?" While the Evil Spirit was still stunned, Zheng Yichen hit it on the head with his fishing rod, disbursing its energy body and stuffing the Evil Spirit’s soul into the fishing rod.
He discovered that this Evil Spirit’s soul was stronger than the ’wild Evil Spirits’ outside, most likely due to the city’s influence.
Zheng Yichen then turned his attention to the bedroom where the young girl lived.
He thought it best to wait for daybreak. When daylight ca, he would control the soul of that Evil Spirit and have it take the girl out. As for the city, it was not yet the right ti to strike. All the people here were deluded, and it was not certain that they would ’hear’ what Zheng Yichen said. Moving prematurely could just make the Evil Spirits here more cautious.
However, that did not an he would ignore the girl just because he could not act against the city at the mont. Now that he had found her, there wasn’t much to discuss. He would simply take her with him, regardless of the girl’s opinion.
At least her opinion wasn’t important at this ti. He already had a place in mind where he could take her—first off, he would send her to Alice’s.
There was also the fact that when the girl saw Zheng Yichen, her gaze often rested on his eyes, which still maintained the hue of Dusk even after the transformation from a cat spirit.
This girl might also have an adaptability to Dusk.
And not just the kind that would allow her to visit as a tourist. If developed, it seed she could beco a Dusk rcenary... that is if the bartender hadn’t been fooling him.
Taking advantage of the night, Zheng Yichen went to explore other places. The City of Evil Spirits at night was like a wild rumpus of demons.
That’s how it seed to Zheng Yichen. To the ordinary people and exorcists here, the night in this city appeared no different from nights in any other city.
Ordinary people still wandered the night markets, buying mundane items from the stalls. In two hours, Zheng Yichen witnessed no fewer than twenty car accidents, and at least forty people cheerfully having late-night als with friends—or their Evil Spirit friends—when they heard the distressing news that soone important to them had been in a collision or so other troubling event.
The hospital was a very lively place because several gang fights had broken out.
The sky bore a mix of colors that Zheng Yichen deed deeply polluted, intermingling in such a way that prevented him from seeing a normal nightscape, only a very strange black moon.
In the distance, there was a black ring enveloping the city, a sight that didn’t seem visible during the day. So beings that looked like Evil Spirits or other ntal Aberration creatures were moving around that black ring, pretending to be clouds.
At lower altitudes, one could see a large number of Evil Spirits active, with ntal Aberration creatures becoming pets of these Evil Spirits. So ’stylish’ won who might have looked like they were walking their dogs on trendy leashes were actually Evil Spirits, and the ’dogs’ they led were ntal Aberration creatures.
```
The human race, evil spirits, ntal aberration creatures—all coexisted here in a manner even Zheng Yichen found absurdly congruent.
"Damn, the more I see, the less I can resist the urge to act!"
After taking a breath and noticing the ti, Zheng Yichen returned to the young girl’s residence, realizing that the City of Evil Spirits was superficially favorable toward evil spirits. Yet, the most critical aspect was that this place was marked on the Dusk map.
The Boundary Breaking Faction’s primary area of operation was in the City of Evil Spirits, and where exactly within it depended on how Zheng Yichen decided to search.
So far, the ’Apocalypse’ hadn’t erged, and the machinations of the Boundary Breaking Faction hadn’t beco evident. The Boundary Breakers operating here clearly didn’t rely on mobile illusions, nor did they seem to be linked to the Demon Flower catastrophes or the Demon Tree.
Dusk rcenaries... forget it, the Dusk rcenaries clearly were influenced by this environnt as well, otherwise, they wouldn’t have concealed this information.
Zheng Yichen could also confirm that this influence wasn’t purely psychological. The Dusk rcenaries must have been here, but after falling under the City of Evil Spirits’ influence, the information they received lacked the truth. Even if they left this place and the influence was removed, their mories contained no related information, and everything would seem utterly normal to them.
And if any unusual movents from those Dusk rcenaries happened here, they would be directly placing themselves in the eye of the evil spirits.
The next day.
Rebecca woke from her sleep and, seeing her best friend hugging her, showed a gentle smile, "Wake up, we’ll miss morning classes if we don’t get up soon."
"Hmm... It’s okay to skip once in a while." The disguised evil spirit sleepily opened her eyes, "Let’s go out later, buy so stuff for the cat you adopted."
"Oh right, my cat!" Rebecca’s eyes widened, and she hurriedly ran out of the bedroom. Upon seeing the lazy-looking black cat on the couch, she breathed a sigh of relief; this newly adopted pet seed healthy and different from her previous ones.
She imdiately went over, endearingly picked up Zheng Yichen, now in cat form, and rubbed him against her face, the epito of a cat slave. Zheng Yichen showed a resigned expression, and this made the girl called Rebecca even happier.
She decided to skip class and buy lots of pet care supplies; she had bought so before, but those had been discarded after the death of her pets.
At nine o’clock, the two ’girls,’ who looked quite pretty to others, drove out. They visited pet stores, bought many things, and then the disguised evil spirit proposed at the right mont, "We bought so much for it; how about going on a picnic?"
"Is that safe?" Rebecca hesitated.
"Oh, it’s fine. Ya know, our city is the safest on the outskirts among all the first-tier cities," said the disguised evil spirit casually, "The chances of special incidents happening here are always the lowest. Nothing will happen."
The girl Rebecca thought it over, found her best friend’s words reasonable, and agreed to buy so fresh ingredients with the disguised evil spirit. Naturally, they left the city limit, and then Lilith, controlling the motorcycle, approached them unveiled and unnoticed.
The influence of the illusionary disguise was so potent that the driving Rebecca was utterly oblivious to the motorcycle close at hand, nor did she notice that her route had deviated significantly from the one originally chosen.
It wasn’t until she saw her cat turning into a person that, before the girl could say anything, Zheng Yichen gently tapped the back of her head and knocked her out, promptly whisking her away...
