The scale bore the engraved magic ritual, and Fire Dragon explained to Zheng Yichen in detail about the origins of this magic. It derived from the legitimate summoning magic in his world, where summoning magic didn’t require signing contracts with magical beasts before summoning them.
That’s only one part of it.
There were Elental Summonings, Soul Summonings, and so on; the forr summoned unique elental creatures, while the latter summoned entities similar to ’Heroic Spirits.’
The Evil Spirit ritual originated from the Soul Summoning within summoning magic, and well, summoning powerful ’Heroic Spirits’ isn’t just lip service. First off, such mighty souls often belong to soone, many are under the control of the True God of the Death Domain, and others are kept by different True Gods.
They are the subordinates of True Gods.
If related by blood, one might be able to summon their ancestors. Without such a connection, it’s either about luck or trying to foster good relationships with certain True Gods or their subordinates.
But either way, that’s not easy, especially without any powerful ancestors to speak of. Thus, so summoners opt for a crooked path; if it’s hard to summon stronger ’Heroic Spirits,’ why not create so themselves?
Among these summoners who chose such unconventional magic, so found their way back to righteousness, while others continued down the dark path. The forr managed to create normal beings – similar to gods but distinctly different.
To grow stronger, they would need to absorb power similar to faith, like receiving sincere gratitude from soone they helped, drawing upon the positive emotional power naturally offered by living beings, which isn’t exactly the sa as true faith.
The God-type beings keep a blind eye over this matter. The True Gods of Fire Dragon’s world don’t have a huge demand for faith; it’s sowhat useful to them, acting mainly as currency and not deeply tied to their power, and they also don’t reject faith entirely – after all, money is an object but can be useful to throw at soone.
Among those ’Heroic Spirits’ cultivated by so shady summoners, so have potential. Once they grow, so True Gods, upon finding suitable ones, might even offer them positions.
The other variety that turned to the dark side are the ’Evil Spirits.’ They can grow quickly by absorbing fear and blood, which are all too easily created.
Fire Dragon tossed the scale to Zheng Yichen, "That’s pretty much it. Don’t pay too much attention to this stuff. Most of this is junk, but what’s crucial is the Control Contract!"
The scale had two sides: one side held the normal ’Heroic Spirit’ ritual, and the other, the abnormal ’Evil Spirit’ ritual.
"I’m not too familiar with this stuff, but who am I to complain—I’m a dragon, right? This is the best summoning ritual I know. It’s okay if you can’t use it; just take it back and have those two witches in your family study it."
