The specific situation of this world is quite dire. As for whether this intelligence is true or false, Zheng Yichen doesn’t care for the mont. In any case, he will inevitably co into direct conflict with the Boundary Breakers and the Devourers. Information like this is useful if obtained and if not, he’ll just dive into action.
Having useful intelligence only made his actions more convenient.
"Boss, the map update is complete," Lilith said. The map that Zheng Yichen got from Dusk was an offline map, not very accurate, but the one in this data packet now provided a clearer map, including so markings that wouldn’t appear on a normal map.
These markings included the positions of Firmant Fortresses.
"Let’s start by checking out the nearest hidden base," Zheng Yichen was quite interested in the weapons of this world.
"Navigation updated," ca the reply.
The motorcycle, which was moving slowly, sped up. Zheng Yichen nodded as he looked at the map beside him. Although autopilot was convenient as the motorcycle wasn’t a car; unless necessary, manual operation felt more comfortable.
At a hidden base, Zheng Yichen found the entrance following the intelligence he had. This place required a password of over a hundred digits, and it also needed to match so specific symbols for validation. Input ti couldn’t exceed one minute. Such security asures indicated the original inhabitants’ trust in the abilities of Proxy Agents.
It was troubleso, but for Zheng Yichen it wasn’t much of a challenge; even without Lilith’s assistance, he could complete it quickly.
After opening the door to the hidden base, Zheng Yichen squinted slightly at the corridor radiating red light before him. Touching the equipnt on his body, he walked inside.
"Greetings, Wise Dragon No. 211 at your service," a male figure appeared in front of Zheng Yichen. Though the projection was entirely red, giving an uneasy feeling.
"Why is the color sche here red?" Zheng Yichen, who dealt with Lilith every day, was unphased by such projections. The technological developnt of this world was obviously not lacking, so the presence of such projections did not surprise him.
"The base is currently offline, would you like to attempt a network reconnection?"
"Leave it as it is," he replied, "how about changing the color?"
A projection screen flashed in front of Zheng Yichen. Reviewing the information on it, he casually picked a different color, and the red light in the base’s corridor disappeared, replaced with a normal hue: "Tell about this place," he requested.
"This is a weapon base. Survival resources here can support two thousand people for four hundred years..." Wise Dragon No. 211 responded to every question, but after hearing the details, Zheng Yichen’s eyes twitched. A weapon base?
Two thousand people for four hundred years? Four hundred years is just the minimum threshold. Beyond that, the recycling capabilities of the base’s survival resources might degrade due to age, making them less efficient. With so luck, the system might last for thousands of years.
But all these calculations by the system assud a maximum population of two thousand people.
Zheng Yichen thought... a survival system designed to last this long didn’t seem very useful, but he understood its purpose after so thought. The longevity wasn’t aimless but a result of the technology of this place. Four hundred years was a minimum due to compressed tilines; if it were specifically a refuge to survive disasters, it could last much longer.
"Due to unknown reasons, the lifeti of the base’s survival resources has been significantly reduced."
"It must be an issue with the ecosystem imbalance," Zheng Yichen said. The Wise Dragon No. 211 following him did not answer back, seemingly lacking the intelligence of Lilith.
Zheng Yichen could feel the warmth inside the base, yet the cold persisted. The ecosystem imbalance had penetrated this place, which was fatal for the built-in life support system, cutting off the possibility of recycling the survival resources.
The crops would die, and the animals bred here would die as well.
Zheng Yichen ca upon a warehouse and his eyes lit up as he beheld the stored weapons. Picking up a gun, he examined it: "To think they still use real bullet firearms; such weapons truly stand the test of ti."
He made no apologies for testing the weapons on the firing range with great enthusiasm. Besides firearms, there were single-person combat flyers, armored vehicles, and other armants. To Zheng Yichen’s regret, he could not take many of them with him.
The flyers and armored vehicles were no longer operational; they couldn’t obtain enough energy from their fuel. According to Wise Dragon’s report, the energy system of the base had severe issues. Under normal wear and tear, its energy systems should have sustained for at least two thousand years.
However, since the energy system here began to malfunction until now, its output has already dropped from the initial 100% limit to 27%, and the speed of this upper limit loss is accelerating. Soon this base will face the problem of energy depletion.
This base also possesses a number of energy weapons, but after Zheng Yichen tested them, he found that these weapons were drastically inadequate. The environntal imbalance rendered them inferior to... uh, less effective than conventional chemical weapons. Even the chemical weapons’ power was significantly affected.
Zheng Yichen rembered that in a world which had faced a similar fate, nuclear weapons were still usable. But given the current changes, he guessed that nuclear weapons wouldn’t be very effective either. High environntal resistance had beco a serious hindrance, and the ’vacuum’ created by the imbalance had a severe impact on many weapons.
No wonder Firmant No. 7 had specifically warned about this in the intelligence provided. These weapons would be very powerful in normal or low environntal situations, but the current environnt was far from normal. It’s not that these weapons were completely useless now.
If Zheng Yichen could find a way to eliminate the ’vacuum’ caused by the environntal imbalance, these chemical weapons could still demonstrate their original power. As for energy weapons, forget about it—they were already losing power due to the imbalance, and would be weak even if the environnt were corrected.
Chemical weapons could still be effective because they released a large amount of energy in an instant upon detonation, so they weren’t completely wrecked like the energy weapons, but it was inevitable that they too were affected.
There was exoskeleton armor here too, but the battery was ruined.
Moreover, Zheng Yichen even found an energy battle saber here, similar to those sci-fi sabers in video gas. Its power was trendous with energy support, and without it, it was still a quite formidable lee weapon.
In terms of chemical ammunition, so bullets had been specially treated; they were much more powerful than the ammo Zheng Yichen brought.
Zheng Yichen even discovered two ’nuclear weapons’ here, but these weapons nad Dusk had been rendered useless due to the environntal imbalance. These were not purely technological creations.
But even if they weren’t useless, Zheng Yichen couldn’t take them with him.
"The ammunition specs are a bit off, can they be additionally processed?"
"The base has flexible production lines, which can set the specs for the ammunition, but the productivity is relatively low." Wise Dragon swiftly replied.
Zheng Yichen specified the caliber of ammunition he needed, of course using the best materials. As for other weapons, energy weapons were completely abandoned, armored vehicles could be ignored—as the vehicles here didn’t use oil-based fuels. But even if it were oil, it probably wouldn’t work.
Fuel that hadn’t reacted could still be used, but once it started to provide energy, the resulting power would be sucked away by the environntal ’vacuum’ first—making it impossible to even start the vehicle.
He stayed at this base for less than an hour, taking with him so ammo made of specialized materials from this world and parts for so weapons. There was also high-end tal here, well preserved, but now wasn’t the ti to carry it.
After solving the problems in this world, he would have the opportunity to obtain better resources—providing that Firmant kept its word.
Besides so ammunition and grenades, he took the best battle saber in this base... Considering the base’s heavy weaponry, lee weapons should have been obsolete, and yet, not only had lee weapons not been phased out, they were still shining brightly in this world.
The battle saber Zheng Yichen took with him was worth more than all the weapons in an entire heavy weapons depot here, yet it was in a semi-functional state. The environntal imbalance had severely damaged the weaponry of this world.
Wise Dragon No. 211 provided additional information; the saber he took wasn’t the best. The best weapons were concentrated in bases within Wise Dragon No. 10. These were key developnt bases, and if he needed, he could check out those bases.
And the reason Wise Dragon No. 211 was so responsive and provided additional information to Zheng Yichen was that the ’identification codes’ he had input granted the highest level of access. Even if Zheng Yichen wished, Wise Dragon No. 211 was ready to address him as the supre commander on the spot.
"In a sense, the Devouring Faction seems more adept at causing trouble," Zheng Yichen mused as he resud his journey, examining the straight-edge battle saber in his hand. Weapons of such caliber no longer needed to consider certain chanical structures, they just needed an uplift in balance performance to beco lethal weapons.
If this weapon hadn’t been in a semi-functional state, according to the test paraters provided by Wise Dragon No. 211, it could’ve directly breached all physical defenses of the No. 211 base; it could also disrupt energy shields. However, its built-in power source was almost defunct, incapable of such performance now.
While its effectiveness against energy defenses had diminished, its destructive power against physical barriers couldn’t match that of the tests. To reach the tested standards, the only way would be to force a miracle.
A single Devouring Sky Pillar had directly rendered most of the world’s weapons useless, but this was also related to the fact that this world had been compromised. Without the Sky Pillar’s influence, the local forces should have had the ability to resist... before problems arose.
