The remaining people Zheng Yichen t with one by one for face-to-face talks, and so his ho quieted down. As for safety inside the house, Zheng Yichen wasn’t worried at all, for he lived with two witches.

One witch excelled at necromancy and was researching curse-related powers, while the other, though not particularly offensive, was still a witch, with plenty of magic specific to witches around the house—just as Zheng Yichen knew, there were magic array formations underneath carpets, behind paintings, and under tables.

So were curse-related, others protective.

Anyone causing trouble in his ho was likely to et with serious problems, for Zheng Yichen had no doubts about the effectiveness of those spells, having left too many spellcasting materials for the two witches before.

And those spellcasting materials were each more unique than the last, including his hair.

In a low-magic world, magic wasn’t as powerful, but using special materials could make its force more absolute within its limited power.

However, as good as these magical effects might be, they weren’t all that reliable for protection in a low-magic environnt; in the technological world, there was a weapon called an RPG that, if loaded sufficiently, could level Zheng Yichen’s house with a few shots, rendering the magic ineffective.

Zheng Yichen slept until the afternoon and found no evidence of anyone else moving around in the house. Was Ahn Ke still asleep?

He checked her guest room and sure enough, the woman was still deep in slumber. Even by dinner ti, there was no sign of her waking, which Zheng Yichen found astonishing—could soone really sleep that much?

At dinner, Ahn Longling arrived looking sowhat exhausted. She sat down imdiately upon arriving, "Is Ahn Ke still asleep?"

"She’s a heavy sleeper. Should we wake her up?"

Ahn Longling shook her head, "No need to wake her, she won’t get up until tomorrow."

Ahn Ke had always been disciplined about her sleep schedule, but this incident had disrupted it. It was normal for her to experience a kind of revenge sleep, preferring to wake up the next morning rather than the sa evening.

Ahn Longling had encountered such situations before when she had to carry out missions, so she wasn’t surprised by it now.

"Why don’t you take a shower?"

Zheng Yichen suggested, eyeing Ahn Longling; she no longer seed as sharp, her hair strictly tied up, no makeup visible, and her clothes wrinkled – clearly, she had been wearing sothing else over them previously.

"Thank you, I will."

Ahn Longling accepted without refusal. Ahn Ke had returned directly here during the day, while Ahn Longling had a pile of follow-up matters to deal with, not those brought on by the Evil Spirit – once the Evil Spirit had been dealt with, Hazy City officials took over.

The affairs had been mostly settled within a day, as the Hazy City officials had always been very professional in these matters. Any remaining impact was handled by the relevant departnts.

However, she was busy with the aftermath involving the Essence of Life harvested near North Lake – the benefits it brought were imnse. Until now, the area around North Lake was still sealed off, with people still trying to salvage any remnants of Essence of Life, even though most of what remained was only residues.

But these remnants were still incredibly valuable, and many Hunters wanted to try their luck there.

Her part was to address the major disputes over the Essence of Life. The Ahn family had taken an early advantage by securing half of it, inciting envy in other families. Just transporting that Essence entailed several interceptions, for what was discovered at North Lake was not rely a few pieces that could be packed in suitcases and taken away—it required trucks to transport, obviously not easy to move completely.

Once the Essence was safely delivered to the storage facility and after clearing so rcenaries ’hired’ by ’unknown’ forces, the matter reached a temporary conclusion. Subsequent disputes over the Essence of Life, however, were bound to be frequent.

But such battles would have little to do with her by then; the confrontations that needed to be faced had been dealt with, and what remained involved negotiations and disputes in other areas.

While Ahn Longling was taking a shower, the doorbell rang. A female assistant delivered a paper bag, not saying a word beyond that it was sothing Ahn Longling had sent over and swiftly left, without even a glance inside Zheng Yichen’s ho.

The bag contained a new set of clothes.

"What’s this? When did my place beco so welcoming?" he mumbled as he passed Ahn Longling’s clothes through the door and his hand received the package.

Before long, a refreshed Ahn Longling, with damp hair, returned to the living room.

"Why do I feel like you all have a tendency to be too accommodating?" Zheng Yichen couldn’t help asking. Ahn Ke was like this, and Ahn Longling was much the sa—even Ahn Qi was nearly ready to hand over her house’s security keycard to Zheng Yichen, oh wait, that thing doesn’t need a keycard.

"Too accommodating?" Ahn Longling, drying her hair, replied, "Not really, the main reason is that you’re rather special, and moreover, there’s been a signal from the higher-ups in the Ahn family."
