Under the bombardnt of modern weapons, the Skeleton behemoth was blasted into smithereens, with ashes drifting everywhere. However, the situation was far from resolved; in fact, it started to worsen. Tourists in the vicinity who were not wearing protective suits began to show abnormalities: their bodies swelled rapidly, and their organs mutated into so kind of monsters that leapt out.
A portion of them was swiftly eradicated by ard personnel in protective gear, while another portion managed to turn the tables and fight back.
At this ti, Ahn Longling popped a dicinal pill into her mouth, her expression turning cold, "Need this? A dicine that can solidify ntal states."
"No need," Zheng Yichen shook his head. He was confident in his ntal defense; after all, he had once eliminated a tricky jellyfish, which granted him a new soul trait. That new trait had prevented even the Supre Demon from infiltrating his dreams, so here... there was no significant problem!
"If I use it, I may not be able to use necromantic skills," Eileena also refused the dicine offered by Ahn Longling.
The driver in the car imdiately took the sa dicinal pill after Ahn Longling had taken hers. There had been no need previously, but now, the situation was unresolved, and the effectiveness of the pill had already been confird by the ard personnel active outside, which was why they had resorted to using it.
As he opened the car door, Zheng Yichen imdiately sensed an abnormal substance in the air outside, brought about by the ’heat sources’ swirling in the air. The source of these minute heat sources were the pulverized remains of the Skeleton behemoth. After being blown to bits, the heat within the bones hadn’t dissipated but had rged into the environnt.
These tiny heat sources circled within the environnt, covering a vast area. They seed to be rising from underground... Underground?
With a flick of his fishing rod, Zheng Yichen upturned the ground, revealing blood-like strands beneath. These strands wriggled like living earthworms when Zheng Yichen lifted them.
"Was that behemoth a decoy to draw our attention?" Zheng Yichen muttered, tossing a clump of Hellfire without hesitation. The flas carried a scent of death and spread rapidly, igniting the blood-like strands underground. It was akin to lighting a firecracker’s fuse which needed a mont to burn.
The puppet master behind the scenes, realizing that their prepared trap had been exposed, imdiately altered their tactics. A large-scale Evil ritual erged from underground. Although a part of the ritual had been ignited, it still had its effect, causing unmutated ordinary people in the distance to abruptly mutate.
Their organs, eager to escape, burst out of them, and so Aberrant creatures charged towards the ard personnel. The weaker ones were shot down before they could get close, while the stronger ones charged through the bullets to engage at close quarters. Those who encountered the creatures at close range tried to fight back, but the mutated monsters simply detonated themselves.
Any ard personnel hit by the blast, whether dead or alive, began to undergo new mutations. Organs burst forth from their bodies, seizing their original hosts’ eyes, devouring their brains, taking up their weapons... Other organs outright attempted to seize the heavy weaponry.
So of the organ monsters successfully reached the weapons, but they couldn’t operate them due to authentication failures. This advantage of technological weaponry now ca into play; without passing authentication, they couldn’t truly leverage the heavy firepower against their forr allies. While firearms were effective, other armored personnel had already begun to counterattack.
The effect of their firearms could not be said to be useless, only minuscule at best. There were no snipers among the organ monsters, while further away, real snipers lay in wait, ready to blow up any of the organ monsters on sight.
Eileena held a Skeleton head in her hands, which flared up with glaring flas that behaved like shifting eyeballs.
"Over there, that being has been trying to influence in reverse," Eileena locked onto a direction with the assistance of the Skeleton head.
Ahn Longling spoke decisively, "I will arrange for support for you. Any abnormal beings that appear beside you will be imdiately eliminated."
She had not considered taking prisoners; a ntal parasite monster that also commanded so Evil ritual was too irrational to capture alive.
Zheng Yichen had lit up the enormous Evil ritual hidden within North Lake, but even before it was rendered completely ineffective, it still wielded sufficient influence over them.
Ahn Longling could feel her ntally solidified state dissolving due to the dication. Should it fully lt, she, too, might succumb to the Evil ritual’s influence and follow in the path of the mutated organs. However, she did not panic in this environnt, and the other veteran ard personnel continued to execute their orders stable.
It would be a race to see whether the vast and Evil ritual would fail first or if they would succumb to it first.
"Good."
Zheng Yichen instantly scooped up Eileena and quickly moved toward the direction she had pointed out. His speed was so fast that initially, Eileena had to guide him, but soon Zheng Yichen learned to discern the direction by himself, watching the change in position of the flas in the Skeleton head’s eyes and imdiately following suit.
Until the fire in the Skeleton head’s eyes steadfastly fixed ahead...
