Had it been any normal creature, Zheng Yichen’s reaction wouldn’t have been so intense. Although the one-horned mule was troubleso and cunning, it was a creature of flesh and blood. Extraordinary creatures are still creatures, and their presence wouldn’t render them uniquely invincible due to so anomalies.
It’s just that compared to normal beings, they hold more possibilities, and now a being without flesh or blood had appeared. Though not long ago he had encountered so skeletal figures that invaded Hazy City through a bizarre event, at that ti, the firepower of unfamiliar allies by his side was overwhelming.
It gave everyone a feeling of security, but now that reassuring firepower was gone. Zheng Yichen imdiately jumped down from the tree, his strong and robust body could withstand such pressure.

This attack clearly had an effect. The light and heat made the evil spirit’s body look as if it were afla. The evil spirit that burst out of the explosion still bore the embers of burnt paper, and its grayish body also dimd sowhat.
A black spear pierced through the body of the evil spirit. The advancing evil spirit seed as if it had been punched, its body bending backward, and its floating assault halted. Zheng Yichen even felt the recoil on the black spear.
But this force wasn’t great, and he easily suppressed it back.
"Oh ho," looking at the evil spirit penetrated by the black spear, Zheng Yichen raised an eyebrow. His reaction was huge because he was spooked, even regretting a bit that when he left ho, he hadn’t asked Tia if the Dusk Cathedral had any Holy Water for sale.
But now, seeing the evil spirit ignore gunfire yet be affected by his own black spear, which derived from his extraordinary abilities, he imdiately felt steadier. The spear worked just like it would against a corporeal creature, giving him a clear sense of feedback.
Being immune to gunfire was indeed troubleso, but as long as other attacks were effective, there was no need to panic and flee. The evil spirit’s speed was within Zheng Yichen’s coping range, and he could handle the impact it had reflected back at him.
With one strike, he garnered quite a bit of information. This creature’s strength was much less than that of the one-horned mule; the mule could toss him around, but he could withstand the evil spirit’s thrashing.
He didn’t imdiately use his extraordinary abilities to try and ’devour’ the creature, instead, he pulled out the processed tongue tied to his waist and whipped it at the evil spirit that now struggled with a ferocious expression. The whip, just over one ter long, brushed against the body of the evil spirit.
A hissing sound arose, and with that strike, Zheng Yichen felt it was not just the sensation of lashing at air but rather a feedback similar to hitting rubber. The evil spirit that was whipped froze in its struggles, its body dissipated sowhat, as if the hissing caused by the tongue’s motion had an additional effect on the spiritual body.
This was very good.
The rigid body of the evil spirit quickly faded, leaving only a small amount of ash-like dust falling from the air. Zheng Yichen shook the black spear in his hand, and as the spear dissipated, it revealed the fishing rod wrapped inside.
The chill didn’t dissipate with the death of that Evil Spirit; Zheng Yichen glanced back...
"Damn it! Why are there so many?"
Without enough ti to fasten his belt, he picked up a fallen gun with the fishing rod, and turned to run. He saw more than a dozen Evil Spirits similar to the one he had just faced appear behind him. The only difference was that so of these Evil Spirits were bald, while others had hair.
That difference was negligible; the real issue was that he alone couldn’t withstand the onslaught of over a dozen Evil Spirits. These beings were light as air and could pass through trees. He could handle three or four, but a dozen... Thinking about the way those bodies he had encountered earlier were mutilated, Zheng Yichen felt it was not going to work out.
Zheng Yichen could keep up with the agility of the Evil Spirits but, when it ca to moving in a straight line, the Evil Spirits were faster than him. They ignored the terrain and passed directly through trees, while Zheng Yichen had to go around the trees in his path, making them undetectable by the thermal imaging function of his cara.
If the cara was used to record directly, it could capture footage of these Evil Spirits, which ant that the Evil Spirits Zheng Yichen encountered were not the type with innate invisibility that ordinary people couldn’t see.
Luckily, as they spread out to intercept him, they gave Zheng Yichen so opportunities. His black spear, as long as it wounded the Evil Spirits, could weaken their spectral form, taking down one after four or five consecutive strikes.
The hissing noise produced when he wielded his whip could also disrupt the Evil Spirits, causing them montary confusion.
However, this confusion lasted a very short ti, not enough for Zheng Yichen to finish an Evil Spirit with the black spear directly. Extraordinary creatures like little chicks and big rats could be drained dry within a second if they were pierced by the black spear.
But to kill these types of Evil Spirits with ’Bloodsucking Damage,’ it would take about five to six seconds, which was more than enough ti for the Evil Spirits to tear him to pieces. His skin was nowhere near as tough as tree bark now.
Yet, by maintaining this hit-and-run strategy and spending so ti, he should be able to wear down these Evil Spirits...
Hm? Rushing through the forest, Zheng Yichen felt a sudden pressure. The forest obscured his view and the presence of fog made the impact even greater, which led to Zheng Yichen suddenly encountering a change in the environnt after running, taking down a few Evil Spirits, and going around so large trees.
He had encountered an anomaly.
Looking back at the persistent Evil Spirits and hearing the hissing of his tongue whip, which slightly interfered with the Evil Spirits, Zheng Yichen himself started to feel annoyed. The effect was indiscriminate; he thought it was manageable at first, but after using it many tis, it beca unbearable.
"This is really... good, huh?" Zheng Yichen had always wanted to find an unsealed anomaly and then cross over to the world on the other side of that phenonon, whether out of human curiosity or as a transmigrator, he was eager to see more.
