"Apples? And eyeballs?" Katrina looked at the contents of the box with her usual expression. She might have been repulsed by things like eyeballs and internal organs a while ago, but after learning more witch knowledge from Eileena, dealing with these had beco a regular occurrence.
The eyeballs, judging by their size, weren’t human but belonged to so other creature. The apples, on the other hand, appeared to be entirely... normal?
Well, the fact that Zheng Yichen had put these two things together indicated that there was no chance they were normal.
"These are remnants from a planet after it underwent mutant activation, probably the last vestiges of that world," Zheng Yichen explained the origin of these items.
"...The more I hear, the more incredible it sounds," Eileena sincerely comnted. Her curiosity as a witch made her want to touch everything Zheng Yichen had encountered, yet the experiences Zheng Yichen had were not attainable in a lower environnt.
If the environntal conditions don’t support it, it’s like being on a mountain peak. The view from the highest peak in the world is entirely different from what one sees on an ordinary mountain.
A planet altered by mutation and activation, sothing one might never see in their lifeti.
"Over 99.9% of the people in that world are dead," Zheng Yichen picked up an eyeball and under his thermal vision, he could see the ’heat source’ the eyeball emitted. But since the world where it ca from had perished, the eyeball no longer showed any signs of activity.
It didn’t feel particularly special to hold in his hand.
When he placed the eyeball on a piece of blood-soaked flesh, so blood vessels erged on the surface. They quickly rged into the fresh flesh, and soon after, the eyeball began to move slightly.
"Hmm, it’s much weaker, and there’s no proliferation or division," Zheng Yichen observed the changes in the eyeball. It was completely different from what he had previously encountered. The Eye of the Planet he previously dealt with had been aggressively active.
Now, this thing seed quite inactive, like a salted fish. Probably because its source had completely died out, making it relatively ordinary. If it had been like the main body, he likely couldn’t have brought it into the Dusk Territory. The fact that he could bring it there ant that its potential for destruction could never reach the level of the main body.
As for danger... similar to a biohazard? If Zheng Yichen really pocketed a tube of biohazard virus and took it to the Dusk, he wouldn’t be stopped by the Dusk nuns. Those creatures only affect living beings, and turning all of a world’s creatures into zombies wouldn’t impact the fundantal structure of that world.
The Dusk didn’t care about what happened to the creatures within a particular world, as long as the basic frawork was intact.
The apple brought back didn’t require much discussion, placed on a piece of new, fresh flesh, it elicited no reaction. Presumably, it would only take effect if a living person consud it.
"The danger isn’t that great anymore, but you still need to be cautious when researching it," Zheng Yichen warned Katrina and Eileena solemnly. He could ignore the effects because of his special physique, but these two witches, though talented, still had the constitution of normal humans.
"Don’t worry," replied Eileena imdiately. She didn’t have as many notions as Katrina, and her thoughts were more mature. She dreamt of fighting side by side with Zheng Yichen, but they each had their own battlefields where they needed to excel in their respective domains.
Of course, she did have so ideas about the identity of a Dusk rcenary. As long as it didn’t involve participating in certain wars, exploring a higher environnt through the status of a Dusk rcenary sounded quite appealing.
"Shall we research it further tomorrow?"
"Of course." Eileena closed the box with a flick and placed it inside a freezer, showing Zheng Yichen through her actions that she wouldn’t let her intense curiosity affect her mood, even though her witch’s intuition was screaming at her that this thing was incredibly unique.
So unique that it would be best to wait until the laboratory was completed before starting serious research.
That night, Zheng Yichen beca Katrina’s pillow in her arms, and in terms of feeling, he could only say it was not bad, a rather different experience indeed.
Early next morning, Zheng Yichen went to the living room, fired up the grill, and began barbecuing. After tasting the at, he clicked his tongue slightly; his digestive power was about the sa as the previous night and hadn’t increased much. He touched his head, noting that his hair had grown longer, but the speed was nothing compared to before.
To recover quickly, he still needed to hunt so extraordinary creatures.
Arriving at the witch workshop, Eileena was already busy at work: "I’ll take an apple with later; for the eyeball, I’ll consider giving it to a collaborator after you’ve made so progress in your research."
After relaying this to Eileena, he and Katrina, who had finished breakfast, headed to the southern forest.
Deep within the southern forest, Zheng Yichen took out a bait he had rarely used, scraped off a part and scattered it into the air. Soon, the surrounding environnt began to stir.
Katrina gripped a small bag tightly; it contained quick-cast materials she and Eileena had developed. They didn’t need magic staffs; compared to preparing a staff, they preferred to have a concealable firearm and, alongside it, carry a long sword.
Zheng Yichen signaled to Katrina not to be nervous, "Don’t be nervous, just support well."
The girl took out so golden powder from the bag, and upon scattering it, Zheng Yichen felt a layer of energy, neither particularly strong nor particularly weak in this world, clinging to his body.
Then so creatures of the forest couldn’t resist anymore and charged out, attacking Katrina. These creatures included both native beasts and beings that had co through anomalies but remained in this world permanently, many of which had suffered severe mutations due to the anomalies.
The extraordinary creatures approaching Katrina were swept away by a black spear; several smaller ones turned directly into dust. Zheng Yichen was in a weakened state, leading to a significant increase in the vampiric nature of his extraordinary abilities. Ordinary extraordinary creatures of this world couldn’t resist at all.
The mont they were breached by the black spear, most of their blood was drawn out, leading to imdiate death.
In a low-level environnt world, the extraordinary creatures are essentially manic, and with the influence of Zheng Yichen’s bait, they beca even more frenzied, continually charging to their doom.
Katrina took out other materials and applied Blessing Magic of an augntative nature to Zheng Yichen, who keenly felt his strength and speed were further enhanced.
This enhancent weakened as he continued fighting and recovering, but the effect didn’t disappear. Had Blessing Magic been developed to this extent? Was this still Blessing Magic, or was it Strengthening Magic?
