"What is this?" Ahn Qi held a tube of blood in her hand, examining it. The glow it emitted imdiately made her think of sothing radioactive...
"Blood."
"Then this creature must be able to emit light continuously, is this your loot this ti?" Ahn Qi felt a sense of letdown too, was this Zheng Yichen’s haul just this?
"That’s it. How should I put it, I encountered a rather ordinary world this ti, where families couldn’t afford a computer, and the phones they used had physical buttons. Here, take this as a collectible." Zheng Yichen pulled out a cellphone.
He casually brought back a few of those things, as they weren’t difficult to obtain.
Watching Zheng Yichen produce the cellphone, her eyes also twitched slightly, "No wonder you returned so quickly this ti."
"Alright, that’s pretty much all I’ve got this ti. If there’s nothing else, I’ll head back first."
The blood given to Ahn Qi didn’t need to be kept secret to any great extent; Eileena had already conducted thorough research on it. This blood contained a special energy but was in a dissipating state; if left alone, it would beco ineffective in at most two months.
Without the influence of this energy, the blood would spoil at an extrely fast rate if not properly preserved, because a part of the blood had already deteriorated due to this energy.
As for the purpose of the energy contained in the blood... Eileena ntioned the Philosopher’s Stone, an alchemy version of the Holy Grail, but neither Eileena nor Katrina were adept at alchemy.
Even with such a substance, they could only use it in the ways they were skilled at.
But this blood wasn’t going to be used up anyti soon, and since it would soon lose its effectiveness, Zheng Yichen handed a bottle to Ahn Qi directly. He didn’t ntion the ti sensitivity of the substance; whether anything could be made of it depended on her side’s technology.
Zheng Yichen took the remaining blood to Dusk Cathedral.
"I plan to use this stuff as enhancent material."
"For personal use, 500 rit points 20 million, for your equipnt, 50 rit points 2 million."
"?" Zheng Yichen’s eyes widened, "I didn’t catch that, could you say it again?"
"You heard ."
"Is this a robbery?"
"Not at all." Prioress Tia’s expression remained as calm as ever.
Zheng Yichen looked incredulously at Tia who had just quoted an exorbitant price, finding it absurd, "I’m using my own blood as enhancent material, and you’re charging 500 rit points? How many people would I have to chop down to save up that much??"
rit points? Before, it was always just a few points here and there, and now suddenly to hear such a staggering sum, is this expecting an average person with a monthly inco of less than ten thousand to pay for a house in full? And to top it off, the bricks used in that house were carried by yourself?
"At least you should let know why this stuff is so expensive, right?"
Tia nodded and explained, "After using this as material for bodily enhancent, you can maintain the state of Unity of Heaven and Man permanently."
Zheng Yichen’s slightly annoyed mood dispersed quite a bit, "Uh, is it that kind where the world revolves around ?"
"It’s the world holding you aloft."
Is that how it is? Hearing this, it didn’t seem quite so expensive anymore. In fact, it even seed like quite a bargain?
"If that’s the case, could I withstand a nuclear bomb in a low-environnt setting?"
"You cannot."
"Oh..." Upon hearing this, Zheng Yichen’s interest waned... not really, just because he couldn’t withstand it in a low environnt didn’t an he couldn’t in a high environnt: "Then in a high environnt, could I treat those things as mushrooms in my own backyard to be picked?"
"You can."
So it’s still an environntal issue, huh? The difference in power was too great, no wonder so people would think of targeting the entire ’world’. If it were him, he’d have the sa idea.
"I really can’t afford it, is there a way to get a loan? No?" If he could use this blood as enhancent material, just thinking about solving problems in the future, he could simply bulldoze his way through, teaching all enemies the aning of cruelty. As long as he appeared in a world, that world would inevitably be saved!
But what exactly was the Sky Pillar thing? His blood, imbued with the energy from gnawing on the Sky Pillar, was already so powerful. Why didn’t they extend and develop it more over there?
"What about enhancing equipnt?"
"It’s possible to achieve Unity of Heaven and Man, but only if you aren’t instantly killed."
"...What if I don’t fight that sort of entity?"
"Then it’s a normal enhancent."
Considering that Dusk Cathedral always offered what you paid for and seed quite sincere about rit point expenses, Zheng Yichen hesitated. Should he not enjoy the benefits himself first before his equipnt did? 50 rit points for a single weapon, wasn’t that too expensive? But then, thinking of the boost that expense would provide, Zheng Yichen felt tempted again. Enhancing oneself was important, but so was enhancing equipnt.
```
The Hellfire that ca with the fishing rod was a trendous help to him, the kind of fla that had nothing to do with the environnt, a product that was self-produced and sold after consuming Life Force, it could be used even in environnts lacking resources.
Interferences could be directly ignored...
"A normal enhancent is a substantial one, isn’t it?"
"That depends on how you use it."
Zheng Yichen struggled and after so hesitation decided to give it a try; after all, hoarding rit points without using them was pointless. He needed to find chances to use them and using them was also counted, not affecting the chance to save the 400 rit point opportunity.
"50 it is then...I’ll play the rich guy this ti."
"Co with ," Tia walked directly out of the Dusk Cathedral and led Zheng Yichen to the garage: "It’s not a weapon?"
"It’s ’your equipnt’."
Isn’t it just weapons? Zheng Yichen was sowhat surprised, and suddenly had the idea of browsing for goods, but Tia obviously saw through Zheng Yichen’s thoughts.
"The rit points consud are based on the equipnt you have on you, if there’s more, you need to pay extra."
Well, Zheng Yichen had the idea to go back and bring over a bunch of equipnt and also to contact Hong Zhao and the others, asking them to send over the weapons they used as well. Not the Fire Dragon Scale Sword, but Battle Maniac Asura’s Supre Demon weapons.
"What about less? Just this weapon, how much?"
"45."
"? So you guys are charging a slting fee too?" Was there even a choice needed? "Wait so ti before enhancing, I need to prepare sothing to go..."
The equipnt Tia ntioned included his weapon, his motorcycle, the weapons inside the motorcycle, the cat spirit cloak in the motorcycle, and so on, while the various supplies inside the motorcycle were all taken out.
He carried a bag back into the cathedral, found a table, and started writing letters to acquaintances from other worlds.
It could take a few days for Qi Xiangyun and the others to reply; if lucky, a single reply could lead to an instant chat.
Looking at the ti on Chiang Wei’s side, Zheng Yichen could expect a result in no more than two hours. She had an arrangent with Zheng Yichen: she would usually check her storage locker during lunch and after work in the afternoon.
"What’s this?" Chiang Wei looked at a small bottle in the locker with a puzzled expression, but after seeing the related instruction manual, she nodded in understanding. She wasn’t very familiar with this stuff but knew the research value it held, despite its short shelf life.
"Here cos work."
Chiang Wei handed the small bottle, as thick as a finger, to a staff mber. After learning of the ’special nature’ of the item, the person imdiately placed it in a bulletproof and explosion-proof briefcase and quickly left the Dusk Cathedral, getting into a car resembling a personal vehicle.
After finishing these tasks, Chiang Wei yawned. She was struck with the lethargy that cos with spring and wanted to nap after eating her sumptuous lunch, she glanced at the letter Zheng Yichen wrote, which first complinted how useful Lilith’s System was, followed by various day-to-day matters.
"No signs of turning into a Doris? Need an interference device?"
Lifting her eyebrows, Chiang Wei took out a cellphone and sent a text ssage, then placed the phone aside to continue eating. She just acquired sothing valuable from Zheng Yichen, and what he wanted wasn’t hard to co by, or rather once the value of that vial of blood was confird, the related departnts would imdiately deliver it.
And what could be researched within a shelf life of less than two months? What did that have to do with her?
She couldn’t beco a Dusk rcenary herself, and the local Dusk rcenaries had recently completed a mission. Although they ca back in a sorry state, they did return, and the harvest, while not entirely satisfactory, was heartening.
They really had direct contact with another world.
"So envious... I really want to be a Dusk rcenary," Chiang Wei muttered to herself, tucking Zheng Yichen’s letter away as her phone rang: "Hello? What’s that? A party? I don’t want to go, what do you an I’m not getting any younger? I’m busy with work, I’ll go ho for a al in a few days, that’s it."
After hanging up, Chiang Wei rolled her eyes. Even though she was now an official hacker, having been a hacker before, she still wasn’t interested in such gatherings.
Especially not ones with ulterior motives. Matters concerning the Eye of Ti and Space Fortress remained a secret, and the World Security Departnt wasn’t exactly top secret, but so information had the sa level of confidentiality as the Eye of Ti and Space project—it wasn’t that it couldn’t be checked, but accessing it would trigger the Shell System.
The archives were checked ten minutes ago; the person was taken away ten minutes later; the network was disconnected on the spot.
Although Chiang Wei never served in the military, she now had a very high honorary military rank. While it was so, she still held real powers as long as it didn’t involve certain matters.
But Chiang Wei thought, there wasn’t much need for her to exercise those powers, other than making tasks outside more convenient. Oh, and getting her hands on so things not available on the market would also beco easier.
Other aspects? It’s not like she could get so tough female soldiers to spar with her in training, right?
The various changes to her identity naturally attracted the attention of so people. It wasn’t that they had any ulterior motives, but rather they sought a strong family alliance of sorts.
As for Chiang Wei, she wasn’t particularly interested in such matters. Her hacker skills prevented many secrets from escaping her gaze. If she wanted to find a partner, even if not deliberately, an accidental slip of her hand might reveal a wealth of secretive information about the other party, and then?
What next?
"Luckily, I now have the power to be willful," she mused, finishing her al just as a briefcase was delivered to her.
