The notice also ntioned sothing about money.
Money? In the post-apocalyptic world, money had beco synonymous with waste paper. A stack of paper money probably only had the value of actual paper used for burning for the deceased. Its overall worth was most likely less than that of a bullet.
"How should I put it, hasn’t this thing not been updated for like thirty years?" Li Yun expressed his opinion.
"Probably... But the nuns here are really young." Liu Haipeng glanced at the sisters inside the cathedral. Their beauty, fair skin, and good figures imdiately attracted the attention of many young n from the post-apocalyptic world.
Even so of the female transmigrators from before seed very beautiful to the people of the post-apocalypse.
There was no other reason. The living conditions in the post-apocalypse were so poor that it was basically impossible to find people with beautiful and fair complexions—there simply weren’t conditions conducive to that kind of maintenance. Moreover, for survival, most of the ti they had to endure all kinds of exposure to wind and sun, and were often in the company of firearms.
Under such conditions, even a great beauty could lose points due to the effects of the environnt.
The fair-skinned and beautiful nuns stood out as quite attractive here. However, the notice was very clear about forbidding any harassnt of the nuns, who possessed substantial combat power, and when they thought of people with the strength of Zheng Yichen working as re laborers, no one dared to test how tough the nuns actually were.
Moreover, they hadn’t co from afar for fun. Ultimately, they were there because of Zheng Yichen. He had been purposeful from the start, aiming for transdinsional phenona. Did his connection with Dusk Cathedral not directly indicate that the cathedral had a deeper understanding of anomalies?
This place might be an extraordinary force. As for phenona, Liu Haipeng and the rest had held etings at the gathering place. After acquiring resources from the territory of the suitcase remains, their developnt would greatly accelerate in the future. But this did not an they could always live in comfort—they had greater aspirations...
They wanted to understand more about the phenona, even to explore and uncover more of these anomalies.
"Stop looking at the nuns for now, sothing’s off with our people." Li Yun said in a low voice to Liu Haipeng, who then looked at the team mbers who had co in with puzzlent. So mbers seed very relaxed here, while others appeared quite uncomfortable.
It wasn’t that they were exhibiting any anxiety, but there was a sense of not wanting to be there.
"What’s wrong with you?" Liu Haipeng directly asked.
"Captain, we’re fine," a questioned team mber replied with so confusion.
"...You seem like you really don’t want to stay here," Liu Haipeng frowned slightly.
The team mber shook his head: "It’s not that I don’t want to be here, it’s just that there’s an odd feeling being in this place that I can’t quite describe."
After understanding more, Liu Haipeng thought about how the team mbers described their feelings, and his expression beca odd. He attributed the weird feeling to sothing akin to jet lag discomfort.
Jet lag discomfort? But clearly, there was no ti difference here; it was just that the overall color tone inside the cathedral gave the impression of being in the dusk. Not real dusk. And those mbers who had no issues didn’t feel this way.
So of the transmigrators they brought along also experienced this ’jet lag’ discomfort.
Was there an issue here? Or was it just an issue for certain people? Liu Haipeng figured it was the latter. Once those who felt uncomfortable left the interior of the cathedral, they returned to normal. It was as if they had been under so kind of strong psychological suggestion.
"Let’s start by understanding so of the information we want to know," Liu Haipeng discussed with Li Yun. No matter what, they ca here to better understand the issues related to the anomalies, for the sake of future developnt.
Zheng Yichen, outside Dusk Cathedral, didn’t find it strange that so team mbers ca out. Dusk Cathedral also emphasized adaptability; those who liked it here would often co back, while those who didn’t wouldn’t return after one visit.
Clearly, those who ca out were the ones who didn’t adapt well to Dusk Cathedral.
As for the purpose of Liu Haipeng and his team... maybe they could beco Dusk rcenaries in the future. In that case, they might still have the chance to greet each other and et up.
In this apocalyptic world, becoming a Dusk rcenary could be beneficial, right? As long as the Dusk rcenaries thought of aiding their own world, they would incidentally acquire so things that would be useful for their world during their actions.
Whether it was technology or sothing else.
However, becoming a Dusk rcenary probably wasn’t that easy, right?
"We might be colleagues in the future!" Liu Haipeng said excitedly to Zheng Yichen.
"..." Zheng Yichen retracted his previous thoughts. It wasn’t as simple as ghosting soone, huh? Had he really succeeded just like that?
"Alright, colleagues be colleagues, but there won’t be too many opportunities for us to act together."
"It’s okay, there will always be chances to et in the future," said Liu Haipeng, feeling sowhat sentintal. He had only co here to understand the situation, and not only had he gained an understanding, but he also learned about more things that he didn’t know before.
Then he wanted to beco a so-called Dusk rcenary. The nun from the Dusk Cathedral agreed without hesitation, and Liu Haipeng wondered how the Dusk nuns chose people. He could beco a Dusk rcenary, but his good friend Li Yun couldn’t, and likewise, several capable team mbers were also rejected by the Dusk nun.
They spoke very bluntly, stating that those who were rejected did not qualify to beco Dusk rcenaries. Those transmigrators who wanted to find a way ho were also driven to madness. They didn’t want to live in this damned apocalyptic world; they were eager to return to a normal society.
So even beca so emotional that they wanted to take action by force, but fortunately, Liu Haipeng intercepted them in ti. He asked other questions which sowhat improved the transmigrators’ morale. They still had the chance to return ho, as long as they found other normal anomalies. By passing through a normal anomaly, they could make contact with other worlds.
Liu Haipeng also felt that if the transmigrators really continued to be agitated, it would likely lead to a serious issue. It might not lead to collective punishnt, but Liu Haipeng didn’t want to test that feeling. As for these troublemaking transmigrators, they would deal with them after returning.
They had already beco potential sources of instability.
Moreover, there was another matter. Zheng Yichen’s arrival in their world to deal with the moving anomaly was to help their world solve problems. Otherwise, their world would be completely torn apart by the moving anomaly and then be swallowed by an alternate world.
Liu Haipeng, knowing this, wanted to help, but the Dusk nun indicated that it was Zheng Yichen’s job, and his participation was aningless—even more so because he couldn’t get involved.
Dealing with moving anomalies wasn’t suitable for him. With no strong opinions on the matter, Liu Haipeng, who had just beco a Dusk rcenary, was thinking about how to take on missions to other worlds in the future, completing them while incidentally acquiring sufficient special resources or new technologies.
Zheng Yichen, back on the road, had mixed feelings. He really hadn’t thought becoming a Dusk rcenary would be so easy... well, it seed not that easy. Out of the entire convoy, aside from Liu Haipeng, there wasn’t a single other qualified person.
Firstly, those who couldn’t adapt to the Dusk Cathedral were out of the question; they definitely didn’t qualify. Only those who could stay had further choices. Yet out of the one-third of people who stayed, only Liu Haipeng was qualified because he had the adaptability for anomalies, as well as enough potential for growth.
To be able to maintain sufficient combat power under various Environntal Adjustnts?
Anyway, as Liu Haipeng had beco a Dusk rcenary, Zheng Yichen was definitely going to congratulate him. As for the likelihood of eting in the future, unless so special situation arose in Hazy City that required a large amount of combat power to resolve, the chance of seeing Liu Haipeng again was really slim.
Looking at the distant moving anomaly, Zheng Yichen took a deep breath and walked into it. He would eventually have to face the giant serpent.
The environnt where the serpent resided was disgusting. If it had been a highly intense environnt, Zheng Yichen pondered that he could’ve gone in after entering Burst Mode and directly hamred the serpent hard.
Poison was a significant threat, but as long as he avoided direct contact and inhalation, he wouldn’t have much of a problem in a short-term lee. However, the intensity level here was too low.
Burst Mode wouldn’t produce a protective qi field around his body.
Zheng Yichen used another thod, controlling a large amount of soil to turn himself into a Stone Person, and then, as expected, he was smashed by the giant serpent.
He could make the Stone Person’s body very large, but it still wasn’t enough against a serpent longer than a hundred ters. He was sent flying upon impact, so Zheng Yichen had to switch tactics. He took out all the gems obtained from Oma and embedded them in the black spear.
The earthy yellow gems added an extra layer of earth armor over Zheng Yichen, the blue gems turned the surrounding wind into ultra-high intensity wind armor, and the purple gems made the lightning power on his weapon even more rampant.
Triple-layered defenses allowed Zheng Yichen to combat the poison-releasing giant serpent, though the resources consud were quite significant.
The poisonous venom sprayed by the serpent was directly repelled by the wind armor surrounding Zheng Yichen, while the earth armor served as an additional layer of protection to prevent any possibility of the wind armor breaking, getting tainted with the deadly poison, and causing trouble.
The lightning power focused tightly on the black spear. When confronted with the spear’s concentrated burst of lightning, the serpent’s tough scales were blasted open, resulting in a bloody wound. Once the defense was broken, the fishing rod concealed within the spear showed its effect; Hellfire poured into the serpent’s flesh.
The black spear also siphoned a ’small’ amount of blood from the serpent.
After landing a successful strike, Zheng Yichen didn’t give the serpent a chance to shed its skin. The wind armor burst open with a gust, deflecting the sprayed venom and bringing him close to the serpent’s vital area. Lightning gathered, and the thunderous outburst shattered the serpent’s scales once again.
This attack exhausted the purple gem on the spear, and Zheng Yichen saw the serpent’s exposed heart.
