Oma was a creature of wisdom, yet there were no other beings within the Alien Phenonon, and Zheng Yichen didn’t know what the creature intended by residing here as an Alien Phenonon creature. The re fact that Oma could ntion "Dusk’s lackeys" suggested a familiarity with the Dusk Cathedral.
Perhaps residing here as an Alien Phenonon creature offered extra benefits?
Zheng Yichen couldn’t be sure of that, but what he was sure of was that since Oma was a creature of wisdom, there must be a stable dwelling place here.
However, the Alien Phenonon Remnant Zone was not small, and even though Zheng Yichen had pointed out the direction, it took four days before they found it.
During that ti, Liu Haipeng’s convoy ca and went nearly ten tis, each ti taking away a considerable amount of resources from this place; they started with food and clothing and later on electronic gadgets and such.
After that, they took whatever they could.
"This is the place..." Liu Haipeng said with a somber expression, opening the gate to the villa in front of them.
The reason it took four to five days to find this place was not only because the direction given by Zheng Yichen was slightly off, but most people were busy moving resources.
Searching for living quarters wasn’t urgent; finding it was simply a matter of obtaining Oma’s collection, whereas those resources were crucial for the survivors of this apocalyptic world.
"What’s wrong?" Seeing Liu Haipeng’s heavy expression, Zheng Yichen put away the snack bag he was carrying.
"There are many... specins here."
Biological specins, plenty of animals, and also humans—it was no wonder Liu Haipeng looked so grave.
"We should burn this place down afterward," Zheng Yichen said heavily as he looked at the ’specins’ scattered around one of the rooms. Suddenly, he didn’t regret his last attempt to deal with Oma; that last try had been a risk.
"Alright," Liu Haipeng agreed crisply.
The specins weren’t only found here; this place was a specin collection room, and more specins could be found elsewhere in the villa.
Zheng Yichen tried to search for any living beings, his thermal vision always on, but he found no signs of life. The creatures from the moving Alien Phenonon that couldn’t adapt would all fall unconscious.
Clearly, Oma had no intention of caring for those unconscious creatures.
In the villa’s study, Zheng Yichen glanced at the books on the shelves, which must have been collected from the environnts brought by the Alien Phenona.
"Strange... Is there soone else here?" Liu Haipeng looked puzzledly at the two cups on a table, "If it was just one person, there’d be no need for two cups, right?"
Zheng Yichen walked over to take a look at the cups, which were already empty. He opened the teapot next to them, and sure enough, there was so tea inside. After who knows how many days the fragrance burst forth as soon as he lifted the lid of the teapot, the re sll of it was invigorating.
"This tea has been here for at least four days and it’s still good?" Liu Haipeng was surprised, "Try it?"
"You’re that brave?" Zheng Yichen looked at Liu Haipeng speechlessly, then rummaged through the study, found two new cups, and said, "Try it."
"..." Liu Haipeng watched Zheng Yichen, who had already picked up the cup, speechlessly. He tasted the fragrant tea that had been sitting for several days, and his eyes lit up, "I feel like my body has gotten years younger!"
He couldn’t resist finishing the tea at once, feeling the change so strongly that it seed not to be an illusion.
He gazed feverishly at the teapot.
Zheng Yichen pushed the teapot towards him, "Drink it, I don’t feel much."
After tasting the tea, Zheng Yichen felt only revitalized, nothing else changed. As for Liu Haipeng, he indeed underwent so kind of transformation after drinking the days-old tea.
Continuing his search, Zheng Yichen quickly found a bag of fresh tea leaves wrapped in plain cloth, likely the sa type as the tea in the cups. Although it seed of no use to him, it was still a fine thing. After pouring out so, he took the rest with him.
He then found plenty of other items in the villa, including different teas, tobacco, and several gel-like objects resembling donkey-hide glue. When they left, Zheng Yichen was shouldering a bag nearly half his height.
Liu Haipeng, carrying a smaller bag, knew sharing brings wealth. Zheng Yichen shared a small portion of the tea leaves and tobacco he scavenged with him. The rest naturally belonged to Zheng Yichen, as he was the one who had defeated Oma. He was willing to share so out of the thought that end-of-world survivors had it tough, helping out where he could. The study was just their first stop; they went on to other places and Zheng Yichen’s bag grew even larger. Although Liu Haipeng’s bag wasn’t full, he couldn’t hide the grin on his face. In addition, he now had a flask of liquor hanging from his belt.
It wasn’t just any liquor; after a small sip, Liu Haipeng felt like he was about to explode.
"Don’t get too happy now, once you’ve finished scavenging this place for resources you better leave quickly. The Alien Phenonon creatures here definitely have connections with other people."
The use of the teacup in the study previously was the best proof. During the scavenging, he also found so letters, but they weren’t written in ’Common Tongue’, instead, they were in another script.
From other traces found elsewhere, it was clear that people often ca here looking for Oma. Those people might be Oma’s companions or allies from the sa force.
There was no doubt that his ddling with the mobile Alien Phenonon had disrupted that mysterious force’s plans. When they returned and discovered the absence of the phenonon here, they would certainly realize sothing had happened.
"Will those people bring more Alien Phenonon creatures with them when they co?" Liu Haipeng’s smile faltered as he asked. Initially delighted, the items he carried could dramatically increase their power when he returned. He himself could beco a true Evolver, not just the half-finished product he was now.
He could even use these resources to try a radical viral stimulation to further heighten human evolution.
After that, there wouldn’t be any extra worries for their settlent; they’d only need to focus on population growth.
"They probably won’t." Zheng Yichen pondered for a mont before speaking. Bringing mobile Alien Phenonon creatures surely wouldn’t be easy; otherwise, they could be everywhere in this world. He guessed there must be so special limitations to these creatures.
"Well, that’s a relief..." Liu Haipeng breathed a little easier.
"As for how powerful the opposition might be when they arrive, you don’t need to worry too much about that. As long as you have strong enough people on your side, self-protection shouldn’t be too big of an issue."
Environntal Adjustnt can’t be ignored by anyone; if people related to Oma co to this world, they too will have their strengths diminished by the effects of Environntal Adjustnt.
Zheng Yichen wasn’t sure what his combat abilities were at this stage in this world, but he figured as long as the gap in strength between them wasn’t too exaggerated, they should be able to put up a fight, right?
As for worlds where deities road freely, even if his powers could swell to a very high level after arriving, Zheng Yichen wouldn’t be overly confident unless he understood the hierarchy of powers in that world and identified roughly where he stood.
A roaring blaze ignited, enveloping the villa. When the convoy’s people noticed the situation here, so ca over voluntarily.
"Captain, isn’t this a bit like cutting off our own escape route?"
Soone asked with uncertainty. It would have been enough to move the items, there was no need to start a fire. After moving the items, the buildings would still be there, and they couldn’t possibly take everything with them. If soone else ca here in the future, they might still find quite a few things.
But burning it down seed a bit too much.
"This place is where the monsters from the Alien Phenonon lived, filled with many human specins!"
"..." The team mbers who arrived exchanged glances, "Then it’s fine."
Those turned into specins might not be from their world, but as mbers of the human race, knowing that their own kind had faced such treatnt filled them with inevitable anger.
"Alright, inform the others to speed up the resource collection. Two days max; we pull out completely after two days."
"Huh? Isn’t that a bit too rushed?" One person was startled. These past days, they had scavenged the Alien Phenonon Remnant Zone continuously, day and night. With each visit, more and more people ca, everyone bursting with energy, wishing they could work twenty-four hours a day.
Still, it would be impossible to clear out the place completely in such a short ti.
"Less talking, the creatures from the Alien Phenonon might have other companions." Liu Haipeng’s words silenced the hesitant team mbers.
Their knowledge of Alien Phenonon creatures was limited, but beings capable of causing such extensive anomalies surely couldn’t be normal, right?
So looked towards Zheng Yichen, just about to say sothing when Liu Haipeng gestured to cut them off: "The subsequent resource gathering can be done in small batches, like simple field explorations. Don’t be too reluctant; we’ve already taken the major haul. Just processing what we’ve obtained this ti will take quite awhile."
Liu Haipeng had been a captain for many years. He could clearly discern the thoughts of his subordinates, which really just boiled down to wanting Zheng Yichen to deal with any of the Alien Phenonon creature’s companions if they encountered them. But Liu Haipeng didn’t entertain such thoughts, not one bit.
Zheng Yichen’s involvent was a lift to these survivors of the apocalypse. Ask him to do sothing? On what grounds? They had no right to demand anything; they had already gained so much. The rest was a matter of choice, their own affair. Their demise due to excessive greed would have nothing to do with Zheng Yichen.
However, small-scale field explorations could still be arranged. The news about this place was known to the entire settlent, so in future expeditions, there would surely be individuals who’d sneak over here out of curiosity or personal desire.
Rather than that, it’s better to conduct more orderly explorations, which are less likely to lead to mishaps.
