The environnt in Hazy City could previously be said to be pretty shoddy, otherwise, a colossal Skeleton behemoth wouldn’t end up drowned alive upon sinking into North Lake.
Zheng Yichen had experienced the formidable power of the Essence of Life, yet in such a low-level environnt, such a creature still perished.
Death by suffocation was just like those in-ga death thods that ignore all resistances to dying.
To him, death thods such as a pierced heart were no longer of any consequence; as for suffocation... it still posed a threat to him. He could go a long ti without breathing, but he still needed a bit of oxygen.
He couldn’t ignore death by suffocation, but he had a way to evade it. He had already learned Life Archive, which could be used to feign death in such a situation. The mont he made contact with air, he’d be able to revive.
This was his thod, whereas the drowned Skeleton behemoth clearly didn’t possess such special abilities.
The one here that drowned, either couldn’t swim or was in a comatose state when transferred here, plumting into the water and ending up dead straight away. The storyline where soone always cos to rescue after falling into water isn’t so easily triggered.
"That’s just too tragic," Tanshia Firlo said, recalling what Zheng Yichen had ntioned not long ago, and put away the Crystal Ball.
She planned to do more research when she got back, as they were preparing to go treasure hunting in the next location.
Zheng Yichen told her that even though this treasure hunt wasn’t a serious affair, since they were here, they might as well explore thoroughly because they might not get such a good opportunity again in the future.
The reason?
The environnt in the Misty City World had gotten stronger, so beings that arrived here through the Phenonon would also get stronger, significantly lowering the chances of creatures accidentally falling into North Lake and drowning.
Instead, those who fell into the water might even have the chance to find sothing valuable here.
ntioning once more the drowned Skeleton behemoth, if such a creature appeared here after the world had balanced out, even without the ability to feign death or fly, it still wouldn’t just drown so easily.
With the resilience of such a creature, it could easily withstand the pressure of mud and water at the bottom of the lake, freely moving around underwater and simply walk ashore.
Can’t walk?
A display of strength could produce miracles and make a leap out, right?
As long as it ca into contact with the air, there would be no possibility of drowning.
Their treasure hunt this ti was directly aid at turning North Lake into a cleaned-out mine, and before long, Tanshia Firlo found a sword under Zheng Yichen’s guidance.
As she was about to touch the sword, an oddly twisted face suddenly appeared within it, and the face snapped at her little hand, startling the small white dragon, who slapped back with a tiny palm, exploding the twisted visage...
"That scared to death!" Holding the giant sword, which was even taller than she was, Tanshia Firlo said sowhat fearfully after seeing that Zheng Yichen had noticed her.
"Don’t be so impulsive next ti," Zheng Yichen shook his head at the place where the Vengeful Spirit had exploded; that thing was probably a water ghost... or an Artifact Spirit, right? It hosting itself in the sword might have had so story to it.
Looking at the still-intact skeleton inside the matching Armor, Zheng Yichen felt a bit of sympathy for the sword’s owner.
That set of heavy Armor, coupled with Hazy City’s destroyed environnt, falling into water... Tsk tsk, truly miserable.
The sword carried a certain strength, Zheng Yichen could sense a faint blessing aura, but there was more of a Curse presence. It was likely affected by a strong grudge, turning blessings into Curses, and the sa had happened to the Armor.
After a bit of cleaning, the new finds were collected; his own storage space was vast, these items could all be taken away.
"BOSS, there are detection devices up ahead, I have already taken control of them," Lilith suddenly reminded as they were walking, and Zheng Yichen looked towards the location of the detection devices, using the Illusory Eye to pull up a panoramic map.
In this map, it could be seen that a research facility was directly above them.
At the place with detection devices, there was also a transparent isolation shield housing so things inside, but this shield already showed tiny fissures.
There were so underwater equipnt undergoing ergency repairs as well.
This kind of situation has beco quite common: versions have changed, but the strength of the equipnt hasn’t, things that could withstand impacts before, now seem feeble in the face of the strengthened aberrant creatures or experintal creatures.
Aberrant creatures can be suppressed by an aura and reverted to their old version, but these experintally enhanced modified creatures are different.
They weren’t weakened, but the equipnt that confines them wasn’t strengthened either, and so this is the result.
Those underwater devices are currently undergoing ergency repairs, while inside the isolation shields, salvage and cleanup operations are underway, Zheng Yichen even saw many underwater combat weapons on alert.
If anything tries to escape, they’ll imdiately neutralize it.
"The fact that this news wasn’t released, if sothing really happens, this lab is going to bear a huge responsibility."
Zheng Yichen said this, his thermal vision didn’t spot anything interesting nearby, so he didn’t stay longer and imdiately left the place.
There’s a risk of incidents here, but the relevant labs have clearly covered it up, silently cleaned up the hidden dangers in this place, and the modified creatures inside the isolation shields have been mostly cleared out, essentially eliminating the risk.
If the cleanup wasn’t complete and an accident occurred, it would be like a new disaster movie scenario.
"That really earns so good karma points, I could probably rack up a bunch," Zheng Yichen thought after leaving. He knew that without the aura, North Lake would definitely not be this calm.
Not to ntion letting those labs who covered up the incidents gamble and successfully ’transition’ through.
Stone tablets inscribed with strange characters, various weapons, magic books that have been underwater for a long ti without damage, and jewelry scattered around but missing their original owners, etc.
Not just Tanshia Firlo, even Zheng Yichen was feeling imnsely thrilled in this treasure hunt, even though many of the found items were of little use.
Well, at least for him, they were of little use, but who doesn’t like picking up money?
"Boss, sorry to interrupt your fun, you have a phone call." Just as Zheng Yichen found a thick tal plate and was about to see what was on it, Lilith’s figure appeared before him.
Zheng Yichen snapped his fingers, connecting the call to his Illusory Eye, and looked with a surprised expression at the figure displayed through the Illusory Eye: "Old Gang, what brings you here?"
"..." Du Gang, seeing Zheng Yichen wearing swim trunks and Tanshia Firlo in a child’s one-piece swimsuit in the visual, was montarily dazed: "Are you swimming?"
He said that, but once Du Gang saw the huge tal plate in Zheng Yichen’s hands, he felt these two people were probably misusing their strength underwater.
The tal plate could very well have just been peeled off sothing.
"Yeah, swimming."
"Swimming underwater?"
As Du Gang spoke, he confird Zheng Yichen’s location through local data accessed by the Illusory Eye. As long as they were in Hazy City, they should currently be at North Lake.
"Cough, treasure hunting while swimming."
"Hmm..." Du Gang nodded knowingly, it made sense. Treasure hunting in North Lake and all, he saw live footage of North Lake on the Illusory Eye; there were probably many phenona there, and a fair number of unlucky ones who passed through the phenona and drowned.
He continued: "Don’t rush to co out, I’ll co over directly."
"Okay." Zheng Yichen nodded and then asked, "Why did you co to see ?"
On his way there, Du Gang replied with a smile: "Haha, I thought you might be about to embark on a mission, your local world just got balanced, I ca to see if there’s any way I could help, but it looks like the problems you encountered here are already resolved."
He looked up the news here; the sky’s aura had cleared Hazy City of the aberrant crisis, and he was thinking if things here were really bad, he would co and help.
Considering the timing, Zheng Yichen was due for a mission assignnt by Dusk, and if things were a ss here, Zheng Yichen might complete a mission, co ho only to find his city turned into ruins.
