The battlefield still **smoldered with the aftermath** of the clash. The Hidden Order had retreated into the Abyss, their ranks **broken but not defeated.** The ruins stood eerily still, the echoes of the fight still hanging in the air like a whisper that refused to fade.

Sai stood in the center of it all, his breath still heavy, his body still tingling with the **power** that now pulsed through his veins.

The Abyss had **accepted** him.

No, that wasn't quite right.

**It had always been his.**

Now, he had simply **stopped resisting it.**

Lena, still gripping her chakrams, let out a long breath, turning to look at him. "Sai... what happens now?"

Sai wished he had an answer.

But the only thing he knew for certain was that **nothing would ever be the sa.**

---

### **The Weight of the Crown**

Ezren Vale stood nearby, his golden abyssal eyes studying Sai like **he was watching sothing rare take shape.** His black armor, now dented from their battle, still radiated an undeniable presence. **He had been testing Sai, pushing him to the edge.**

And now?

Now, he looked **satisfied.**

Sai turned to him. "You could have killed ."

Ezren smirked. "I still could."

Sai narrowed his eyes. "Then why didn't you?"

Ezren stepped forward, clasping his hands behind his back. "Because, Sai, you were never ant to die here." He gestured at the abyssal creatures that had fought under Sai's command. "You are the first in centuries to awaken this power. Killing you would be a waste."

Sai felt a flicker of unease. "And what? You want to just... take the throne? Beco the next Abyssal King?"

Ezren's gaze darkened. "The Abyss does not need a king."

Sai blinked. "What?"

Ezren exhaled, looking toward the shattered ruins around them. "The Abyss was never ant to be ruled. It is a force beyond any one person." He turned back to Sai, his voice quiet but heavy. "But it does need a **leader.**"

Sai frowned. "What's the difference?"

Ezren stepped closer. "A king controls. A leader commands."

The words sank into Sai's mind, heavier than they should have been.

He had never wanted to **rule** anything. That much had always been clear to him.

But...

Could he be a leader?

And if he wasn't—**who else would be?**

---

### **The Abyss Answers**

A pulse of **energy rippled** through the ruins, sudden and **unexpected.**

Sai turned sharply, his instincts flaring.

The ground beneath them **trembled**. The air around them **shifted.**

Lena tensed. "Sai... tell you feel that."

Sai's system **flashed a warning.**

**[Warning: Abyssal Core Disturbance Detected.]**

**[Unstable Energy Rising.]**

Sai barely had ti to react before a **wave of abyssal force** surged outward, nearly knocking them off their feet.

From the center of the ruins, where the battle had torn the fabric of the Abyss, **sothing was waking up.**

Ezren's expression turned serious. "It seems the Abyss has decided for you."

Sai barely had ti to process those words before **the shadows themselves rose.**

---

### **The Return of the Forgotten**

A rift **split open** in the air before them.

It wasn't like the other gates Sai had seen.

This wasn't a portal.

It was a **tear in reality.**

And from it, **they stepped forward.**

Figures cloaked in abyssal mist, their faces hidden, their bodies **half-ford**, as if they existed **between existence and nothingness.**

Sai's breath caught.

"The Forgotten."

Ezren's golden eyes flickered. "So they still remain."

The Forgotten moved in eerie unison, their **hollow voices overlapping in whispers.**

**"The First Heir has risen."**

Sai **tensed.** "First Heir?"

The voices **shifted.**

**"You have broken the chains. You have awakened what should have remained buried."**

Sai's chest **tightened.** "You an the Abyss?"

A pause.

Then—

**"No."**

The air **shuddered.**

And Sai felt it.

Sothing **far older, far greater** than himself.

Sothing waiting.

Sothing **hungry.**

---

### **The Truth of the Abyss**

Ezren's posture stiffened. "So it's true."

Sai turned to him. "What's true?"

Ezren's gaze remained on the Forgotten. "The Abyss was not always broken. It was not always a prison."

Sai frowned. "Yeah, I saw that in the vision. It used to be a kingdom."

Ezren nodded. "But do you know why it fell?"

Sai hesitated. He had seen glimpses. A war. Sothing they had tried to **stop.**

Ezren exhaled. "The Abyss did not fall by accident. It was **destroyed.**"

Sai felt sothing **cold** settle in his stomach. "By what?"

The Forgotten turned their **empty gaze** toward him.

**"By the Betrayer."**

The na **slamd** into Sai like a hamr to the chest.

His system **reacted imdiately.**

**[New Record Unlocked: The Betrayer of the Abyss]**

**[Historical Data Unsealed.]**

Sai clenched his jaw. "Who is the Betrayer?"

The Forgotten's whispers **shifted**.

**"The one who tried to consu the Abyss. The one who shattered the first throne. The one who will return."**

Sai's pulse quickened. "You an the Abyssal King?"

The Forgotten's voices turned **cold.**

**"No. He was the last protector. The last guardian of the Lock."**

Sai's breath caught.

"The Abyssal King didn't destroy the Abyss," he whispered. "He tried to save it."

The realization **hit hard.**

Sai had spent all this ti thinking the Abyssal King had been so kind of ancient tyrant, soone who had ruled and lost everything.

But if the Forgotten were telling the truth—**then the Abyssal King had fought against sothing far worse.**

Ezren's voice was grim. "And now that you have broken the Last Lock, you have awakened it once more."

---

### **A Choice to Be Made**

Sai's mind raced.

The Abyss hadn't just chosen him for **power.**

It had chosen him for **this.**

To stop whatever was coming.

He turned to Ezren. "If the Abyssal King couldn't stop it, then how the hell am I supposed to?"

Ezren's golden eyes were steady. "By doing what he could not."

Sai clenched his fists. **There had to be another way.**

He could still walk away. He could still **ignore this.**

But deep down, he already knew the truth.

If he didn't take control of the Abyss—**soone else would.**

And they wouldn't fight to save it.

They would fight to **consu it.**

Sai exhaled. His hands stopped shaking. His mind cleared.

Then, slowly, he turned back to the Forgotten.

"I am not your First Heir," he said. "But I am the last."

The Abyss **rippled** at his words.

The Forgotten **bowed.**

And the Abyss **answered.**
