Elena’s golden dust drifted through the Wailing Peaks in search of the others.

It grew difficult the further in she went as the wails that had earned the Mountain its na left her disoriented, barely able to maintain her current state.

Of course, her desire to save the others allowed her to maintain a singular focus, careful not to alert the banshees to her presence.

Unfortunately for her, that was easier said than done.

A series of bizarre cries rang out at that mont like a sort of alarm, causing her to discard her dust form for a physical state to better take on what was coming.

However, surprisingly, instead of the banshees, it was Arwen who ca to welco her.

"Arwen," Elena muttered softly as she prepared for any eventualities.

Arwen managed a smile as she remarked. "Did you think you could sneak in here without getting caught?"

"Maybe, maybe not," Elena replied. "What have you done to the others?"

"They are safe, for now at least."

"For now?"

"Indeed. Alex has agreed to beco my spouse, ensuring that with the birth of Death, the Dark Lord is born as well."

"What do you hope to achieve?"

"The end of death, Elena, only by creating an undying world can that happen and with Alex’s help, it is possible."

"Arwen, this isn’t you talking. It’s whatever that’s corrupted you. You have to fight it."

Arwen chuckled. "She’s already fighting as it is. I an, if not for her, you’d already be dead by now, sa with your other comrades. Of course, Alex is an exception."

"Let her go."

"No."

"I didn’t want to do this but you gave no choice. Either you leave her body on your terms or I’ll force you out." Elena coldly remarked.

Alas, her words only served to amuse Arwen as she replied. "If it were that easy, you’d have done it long before now, but you didn’t. Why?... Because attacking is the sa as attacking Arwen. She and I are inseparable."

"There has to be a way," Arwen remarked. "And I’m going to find it."

"Oh co on, no need to do that. Look here, you don’t have to feel guilty, Elena dear."

"..."

Arwen’s smile turned crooked as she continued. "If not for you, Arwen would have never t and I wouldn’t be here, preparing to fulfill my dream of creating an undying world."

"I won’t let you take her."

"Why so selfish?... She wants this as well. How else do you think she would be able to understand the fragility of mortality?... My plan will end the concept of mortality for eternity."

Elena wavered at that mont, seeing so sense in what Arwen said.

But the knowledge within her, alongside her gut, made her understand that it couldn’t be so easy.

That sothing was wrong with Arwen’s twisted plan to end the world, consuming it with flas.

"Oh dear, why must you doubt ?"

The next mont, Elena sensed danger and imdiately reacted accordingly.

Flas erupted about her a second later, seemingly from thin air, devouring her in an instant.

"Oh my, I guess I didn’t tell you that keeping your distance from doesn’t matter. The flas of death are all-encompassing." Arwen remarked in amusent only to pause as she realized sothing was off.

The next mont, Elena erged from the flas, unscathed with a cold expression on her face.

"Interesting," Arwen muttered. "Truly interesting."

Elena didn’t even bother with a response as she conjured a portal leading to Purgatory beneath Arwen’s feet, only for the latter to burn it up with her green flas.

But that wasn’t the end as the flas continued to burn, allowing Arwen to transform from a human girl to a 9 feet tall beautiful woman with a skeletal fra and a pair of bone dragon wings, wielding a scythe in one hand while green flas continued to consu her figure.

As she took to the air, her eyes, glowing a bright erald, focused on Elena, and the next mont, the flas consud her again.

Elena used her ability to shift dinsions, hoping to dodge the attack a second ti but this ti, things were different.

The flas burned the lines between dinsions, reaching for her true body hidden in a different space.

Shocked by this, Elena didn’t hesitate to teleport, shifting to a different dinsion before appearing behind Arwen and swiping at her, causing a slash in space to erge.

Arwen’s flas burned the attack, revealing that there was a space of perpetually burning flas about her, serving as a shield against all incoming attacks.

As Arwen turned to attack with her scythe forged of bones, Elena teleported again, appearing at another place and then, throwing a punch at her opponent.

Arwen ignored the attack as she expected Elena to have her hand burned off but imagined her surprise when instead of that happening, Elena’s fist bypassed the burning space and struck her directly with a force that far exceeded what she should be capable of.

The result was Arwen slamming into the ground, causing the Wailing Peaks to tremble.

Arwen looked up just in ti to watch as Elena’s entire body began to glow with a faint golden aura her eyes took on the sa shade while her hair floated as though it were alive.

"I won’t say it again." Elena intoned, her voice echoing as though several were speaking at the sa ti. "Let her go."

Arwen’s eyes flashed as she remarked. "Truly remarkable. You share a relationship with the Pillar."

Elena gave no response, preparing to attack the mont Arwen made a move.

"It’s surprising that you are just at this level. With enough practice, you can beco a worthy proxy of that entity, harnessing powers exclusive to deities. But you haven’t done so and that, my dear, is the difference between you and I."

"What are you talking about?"

"Because unlike you, that is barely a hatchling. I have had thousands of years of practice, and in a battle between proxies, I am equal to none."
