White lightning descended from the sky like heavenly punishnt, illuminating the pseudo-dinsion as it thundered down with a vengeance.

As many as Humphrey dealt with, several more took their place, slowly breaking through his defenses.

It didn’t take long for the courtyard they were in to turn into a forest of lightning with Humphrey forced to conjure a shield to protect them.

It won’t last long. We have to move or we will die.

Alex replied. "Let’s head into the castle for now."

The castle doesn’t seem safe. I advise we head back to the ship.

"Ana is in the castle and she is still alive. Let’s go." Alex said, leaving no room for argunts.

Understood.

Alex tried to snap but space was still locked, no doubt a result of the serpent’s ddling.

Who would have thought the domain of Space would be so troubleso to handle?

Humphrey took charge seeing as Alex couldn’t teleport.

He kept the shield he’d created up, making his way toward the entrance with steady steps.

But with each step they took, the lightning bolts grew more powerful, striking down like cudgels causing cracks to appear in Humphrey’s barrier.

Alex felt the need to respond to the harassnt but with the thought that the serpent could still be watching, he didn’t want to reveal his cards too early.

Unfortunately, in the battle that just ended, he didn’t have the chance to do so due to how fast it had been.

Perhaps only Ana would be able to react properly to the serpent’s attacks which ant they needed her if they wished to defeat the serpent.

The barrier won’t hold for much longer.

"Protect Ulysses, I’ll handle myself," Alex replied as he snapped, causing his body to transform into a deluge of black and white light.

Seeing this, Humphrey didn’t hesitate to act, using his shadowed body to cover Ulysses before then concentrating his barrier on himself, leaving Alex at the rcy of the relentless attacks.

The lightning bolts struck down as though they’d been waiting, intent on destroying Alex but after the dazzling radiance dissipated, Alex remained unhard.

After a second round that was still unsuccessful in damaging him, the bolts shifted to strike down at Humphrey but due to how compact his barrier had beco, it was only able to scratch the surface.

Like this, the trio reached the great coral doors of the palace and with an exchange of looks, pushed it open only to be suddenly whisked away to soplace within.

Your friends are indeed quite troubleso. Rather unfortunate that they are not dragons. I would have loved to devour them as well.

The serpent thought to himself while floating about in a lightning forest.

The forest persisted within a hall that had no windows or doors and was half filled with water.

Ana didn’t respond, or rather, she couldn’t, as she had sealed herself in a temporal lock, leaving the serpent no choice but to spit her out.

In her current state, she was oblivious to what was happening about her, a pri state to be devoured but alas, the temporal lock also served as a defense chanism.

If the serpent devoured her in such a state, it would end with him being stuck in the lock as well.

Do you think they would be able to save you, child?... Foolish. Ti cannot exist without space but so spaces do not need ti to persist. I am superior to you in every aspect and this act of yours... It is rely a aningless struggle. So give up and I shall make your end swift.

As he spoke, he adjusted his perception, seeking spatial holes in the temporal lock so he could drag Ana out of it and complete the devouring.

Alex found himself in a dark hallway that seed to stretch on forever with no end in sight.

Looking about, he extended his Will, using it as a radar to ensure there was nothing about him.

Receiving no feedback, he snapped but found that he couldn’t summon Humphrey to his side.

Once again, the domain of Space had reared its ugly head, locking Humphrey away from Alex.

Just as he took a step forward, he heard distant laughter.

It sounded like a little girl amused by sothing, but Alex had received no feedback after extending his Will, so there was no way the little girl was human.

He raised his guard, prepared to snap at a mont’s notice.

Just then, he felt a cold draft wash over him, almost like sothing had passed him but when he turned around, there was nothing.

Imdiately, he thought of sothing. Ghosts.

With that thought ca another and though he knew the risk, Alex didn’t hesitate to look between his legs only to finally set eyes upon them.

They were pale white entities dressed in a variety of intriguing attires, each one with a pained look on their face.

Their skin seed bloated, and it appeared as though they had died by drowning.

But the peculiar thing was that these entities weren’t human.

Instead, they seed to resemble... rfolk.

But then that raised the question: how the hell did rfolk die by drowning?

Before Alex could even begin to figure out the reason for such a bizarre end, the ghosts noticed his gaze and looked back at him.

Alex quickly stood back up and without hesitation, leaped to the side.

A cold draft of wind passed by his previous location, sparing him the pain of being shoved forward like a sack of potatoes.

Letting out a sigh of relief, he was just about to get back on his feet only to pause as he heard what sounded like rushing water causing his heart to tighten.

He didn’t hesitate to get back on his feet and run as his teleportation was rendered useless.

Seconds after he started running, a wave of water suddenly appeared in the hall and charged at him with the intent of drowning him.

Restraining the urge to curse as he realized he couldn’t outrun the wave, Alex snapped, utilizing Skywalking to reach the roof and lie flat against it.

If this wave was the sa one that caused the death of rfolk by drowning, Alex had a feeling that letting it engulf him would not end well.

He watched as the water washed by him, barely touching his clothes before finally dying down.

With a relieved sigh, he undid the ability and dropped back on the now-wet floor before continuing on his way down the hall with steady steps.
